A Bonnet Bouquet

     This is my third card as a Guest Designer for the Wednesday Sketch Challenge at The Outlawz.  The challenge is being sponsored by Jan's Digi Stamps and since I'm on the DT at Jan's, I got to do extra cards this last month using some of Jan's best images.  This one today is called "Bonnet Bouquet" and I used it for a Mother's Day card by adding a sentiment from that same set.

Here's the sketch.

Bunnies and Roses

     We're all familiar with the old adage about stopping to smell the roses but in our current circumstances wouldn't it be great to go outside and smell a rose?  Bunny Dew, from Digi Doodle Studios, has decided to do just that!   Today I'm sharing my DT card for DDS.

Spring in Silhouette

     I just finished up another card using techniques and tools which are not my "go to" items but which I love to use.  First thing, I used water color paper instead of CS for the image piece.  I used water colors to create the rainbow effect on the image background.  I let it dry and then ironed the paper using a high heat setting on the iron.

     At that point, I cut the paper to 8.5 x 11 inches (to fit the printer's paper tray), added the silhouette image (Bugaboo Stamps), and printed it onto the background.  Love the way that turned out!

My colors came from the Catch the Bug challenge
and I used the sketch from Stella Says Sketch.

Rain or Shine

     The day I got this new image from LeAnn's World 101 progressive challenge, our weather was cool, even a bit nippy in the early morning.  Three days later, as I'm publishing this, they are predicting a high temperature of 92F and we hit 90F yesterday!  I know summers are much hotter than that out here where I live but c'mon, people, it's only April !  I'd prefer rain.  :-D

Honoring Medical Heroes

     A salute today to all the medical heroes who have been working so hard for all of us these last 3 months, although they are there for any and all of us every day of the year really.  These three images came from Stamper's Delights progressive challenge this month.

     Instead of merging the images, this time I printed them separately because I wanted to die cut them for layers which would focus some attention on each of them individually.

I followed the color wheel at Color My Heart
choosing shades of red.

Floating on the River

     Hello all.  It's Friday and that means another challenge has begun at QKR Stampede, where our theme is always Anything Goes and where you can use any company's products to make your card.  However, if you decide to use a QKR image, or one from our sister company, Eureka Stamps, your entry will go into a separate draw just for those entries and that increases your chances of winning by a lot!  :-D

     For today's DT card, I merged two different QKR images, one called "Floating Gator" and the other called "Fish in Water."  I thought together they were perfect for a lazy day card.

Mountain Columbine in Lavender

     I'm guest designing for The Outlawz Twisted Thursday challenge again and the optional twist on the challenge is to "use one of the sponsor's images."  The sponsor for April is STAMPlorations and I used one of their beautiful floral stamps, "Columbine."

     I colored this one by looking at a photograph of an actual columbine flower.  Although they come in many different colors, including yellow and red, for me the lavender ones are the best because any shade of purple is my favorite.  Purples are my happy colors!  :-D

Water Flowers, Not Weeds

     I'm posting a reminder for those of you who haven't yet played in our Anything Goes challenge over at Jan's Digi Stamps.  Our challenge will run until the evening of Sunday, May 3, and you may use any products from any company.  However, if you choose to use an image from Jan's, your entry will be put into a separate draw just for those using Jan's and that increases your chances of winning by a huge amount.

      For this card, I used an image from "Friendship Flowers 702J."  I printed the colored version but in gray scale instead of color, then used a highlighting technique wherein I colored only a small part of the image, making that part seem 'highlighted.'

     The sentiment is from that same set and seemed very appropriate for our current days when it's so easy to focus on all the deprivations instead of finding a few blessings.  :-D

I used colors from Color My Heart #38, starting with
the diagonal colors from top right down to bottom left,
and then added all the other colors on the board
 before it was all finished, except for the Candy Apple.  :-D

Peonies in a Jar

     Today I'm back with yet more peonies and I'm still not tired of coloring them.  :-D  This image is from Conie Fong, called Peonies in a Jar, and I thought it would be perfect as a Spring DT card.  On our FB page, we always have two challenges each month - one is for coloring only and the other is for completed projects.  On the completed projects, the theme is Always Anything Goes (with a Conie Fong image) but we give you an optional theme if you want to use it.

     This month it's all about Lace or Pearls.  I featured those on my first 2 DT cards but not this one.  The closest I got to lace was using the Little B die to cut the pink and green, scalloped, mat behind the image.  :-D  The image comes with or without the pebbles in the bottom of the jar.

I based this on one of the sketches at

Double Trouble Once Again

     Once again, I'm posting a project I did as a Guest Designer at Double Trouble this month.  This challenge the theme is things which are related to Spring and our Double Trouble partner is Artsy Stamper and their theme is also "Spring."

     This time, I did something a bit different for me - all die cuts; no hand colored image.  But I managed to incorporate ocean waves as my "water" and also included a cat so how bad can that be?  My "Spring Things" are birds, vines, butterflies, and a feline staring out the window.

Spring Flower Basket

     One of the things I love about spring is that my garden begins to bloom with flowers, which I cut and arrange on my dining table.  Each type of flower comes in its own time and I get to measure the progression of spring by what flowers are on the table.  My daisies are just beginning to put on buds but in a couple of weeks, they'll be in full bloom and then I can put a huge basket of them on the table.

     When I found this image in my collection of Stamper's Delights (previously Scrapper's Delights), I just had to print and color it.  It'll have to do until my daisies bloom.

Hydrangea

     This very CAS design is probably my favorite of the things I've made so far this week. Once I had die cut the image and matted it, I knew that had to be the main focus of the design.  The hydrangea image and sentiment are both from Beccy's Place, where the theme is Always Anything Goes with an optional twist - this month the twist is "floral."

Knowing I wanted a simple design, I used the sketch
I found at Paperbabe Stamps.

Stop and Taste the Tulips

     This fun and silly image came from the Progressive Challenge at Limited Runs this month.  I know we're commonly advised to "Stop and smell the roses" but this one looks more like she's stopping to taste the tulips.  lol  I did a pretty simple design with just the image and some ribbon.

     Today, I combined two QKR stamps, each of which is named "Cottage" by the way, but I'm going to give you links to each of them so that you can easily find them the store if you want them.  Cottage (#17801) and Cottage (#17805).  I scattered those two images to make the background paper, working in Word to make them different sizes.

A Little Spring Rain

     We've just had a report from the people who track our drought status and, due to all the rain we had last month and all last week, we are now out of the drought which has plagued us for more than 5 years.  We may also have more rain over the weekend; not a lot but it all adds up.  So, I'm celebrating the 'rainbow' in that news!

     This image is from Bugaboo Stamps and there are tiny rainbows in the glittery sparkle of each raindrop on the card.  :-D  I've done this one all in soft blues to honor my friend, Lynn, who loves the color blue and who had snow in her part of the country this week.  Chin up, my friend, it'll turn to rain before you know it!

I based my design on the sketch at Stella Says Sketch

Spring Garden

     Today it's my day to post a DT project to the Digi Doodle Studios Facebook page where the theme is Always Anything Goes and you must use a DDS image.  In addition, there's a challenge on the Digi Doodles Challenge Blog. The theme on the blog is "Spring/Easter" but since Easter was this past weekend, I'm celebrating Spring with this card.

     The image was originally intended to be an autumn stamp and it's called "Sunflower Dreams" but I found it to be a perfect image for spring when I colored it in spring colors.

     Note that I much prefer coloring people to coloring animals, even though I use a lot of animal stamps.  Why people?  Because I love coloring hair so much more than coloring fur and there is an endless variety of hair styles compared to 'fur styles.'  lol

Exercise the Cats

     If you thought being on lock down was tough on we humans, try explaining to a cat why they can't go outside and exercise by scrambling up trees or chasing butterflies or even a bit of paper tossed on a spring breeze!  With most cats, it's not easy (translate as not POSSIBLE) to take them for a walk on a leash.  They are not dogs (as they keep telling us) and I've never gotten one to heel or sit.

     The best I've managed when it comes to taking a cat for a walk is to trail a length of string where they can see it and chase after it.  That not only gives them exercise, it also entertains them (and me!)  :-D

     When I saw the new Star Stampz image, called "Red String," which we were given for the Progressive Challenge at The Outlawz, I could hardly wait to get something made.  But that nasty bronchitis I had delayed my usual first-week-of-the-month schedule for getting it done.  In any case, the month isn't over yet so this is plenty early for getting my card posted.

A Peony Hello

     I don't know what it is lately but I've become almost obsessed with coloring peonies.  Maybe it's because my own peonies haven't been blooming much the last couple of years and I do miss them.  I think it's time to dig them up and replace them.

     In any case, the peonies I used on today's CAS card are an image from AuroraWings and I just got it so it's brand new to me!  It colors up beautifully and I really like the finished result.  One of our local groups has put out a call for donations of hand made cards which they are going to include in bags of groceries for seniors who are house bound or who have problems otherwise getting out to shop for groceries.  This is one of the cards I'm donating but I have also gone through my stash and I have more than a dozen others ready to go.

     By the way, if you have time to stop by the AuroraWings FB page, Mitzi has a freebie Angel you can use if you want to brighten someone's lock down day.  :-D

The End of Easter!

     I know, that title makes you believe that because Easter celebrations are going to be severely limited this year due to the corona virus, that there may never be an Easter celebration again.  But all it really means is that this is what you would see if you were up and around when the Easter Bunny is finished with all his egg hiding chores!

     It's time for a new, weekly challenge at QKR Stampede and our theme (as always) is Anything Goes.  The image I used is from Eureka Stamps, our sister digi company, and it's called "Bunny Bottom."  Isn't it fun?

Another GDT Spot - Outlawz Twisted Thursday

     I'm serving as yet another Guest Designer and this one is a bit of a homecoming.  I used to be on the DT for the Twisted Thursday challenge at The Outlawz!  Now, I'm playing Guest Designer for the month of April.

     Our lovely sponsor is STAMPLorations (that's one of their images) and the theme is "Maps or Signs."  I did a hand-drawn sign pointing the way to my morning cup of coffee.  There are a lot of mornings when I get up but my brain is foggy and my eyes are half closed.  It's those morning when I could use a good sign pointing the way to the coffee pot.  :-D

     Doesn't this stamp make you think about sitting in a garden on a spring day, sipping coffee, and reading a good book?

    This is my latest DT Inspiration project for Conie Fong and I've used a beautiful image called "Butterfly Wishes."  I have a dear friend whose birthday is coming up in a week or so and this one will be in the mail to her this afternoon.

     Our challenges are always "Anything Goes with a Conie Fong image" but there is also an optional twist if you want to use it.  This month, it's "Lace or Pearls" and I used flowers with distressed pearl center but you'd have to count the die cut frame if you wanted to find any 'lacy'ness.  :-D

Time Spent with Cats

     Today, I have the honor of being a Guest Designer with the Double Trouble challenge.

     Here are all the details you need to know to play along.

Challenge #54 - "It's Hip to be a SQUARE"
THING 1: Trouble Maker says, "Click It's Hip to Be a Square to sing and play along with Grover and Friends from Sesame Street.  To show us how many squares are out there, make a square card, scrapbook page, gift box or other square creation... or use design papers, stencils or embossing folders which have squares.  The more squares... the more hip you are.  You can use other shapes but we must be able to see at least one square on your project."
You can stop here...
OR, you can choose to include Twisted Sister's Optional Twist below to earn additional chances at our random draw.

THING 3: Twisted Sister says, "I'm Hip but not necessarily Square.  Since many of us, like me, have organized craft rooms (haha), select one of your older stamp sets (no digis) that you have not used in a year or more for your project.  Please don't make us guess... add the approximate year to your blog post with the link to our challenge.

This is an OPTIONAL TWIST but you will be awarded an additional chance in Double Trouble's random draw if you include this twist in your project.

THING 2: Double Dare says, "Sometimes stuff just happens and things get crazy. Our challenge partner has notified us that their team is unavailable to participate as planned. But we are remaining "hip" and upbeat! So we'll stand up, "square" our shoulders and ask you to participate in the same manner as you do for Something, Anything, Everything challenges. In other words, link your project to one of our previous partners listed below for another chance at the Random Prize.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
     I'm linking up with a previous partner, Crafter's Cafe!  I found an old, clear-stamp, set hidden away in a drawer in my craft room.  It was from Stamping Bella and it has to be at least 4 years old.  I'm sad to admit that I had never even opened the package nor used the stamp but now I've remedied that with this square card.
Blessed Easter
     We have a new challenge beginning at Jan's Digi Stamps today, where our theme is always "Anything Goes."  I do have a bit of information for you about a wonderful free set from Jan's and about some changes in the challenge but rather than take time to tell you about those things (or how to get the free set) here, I'm going to suggest that you click on the link above (Jan's Digi Stamps) and read all about everything over on the challenge blog.  You'll get to see all the DT inspiration, too.  :-D
     My DT card uses a combination of images from two different sets: Church Sympathy 604J and Cottontail Easter 3245J.  The oval frame came from the Church Sympathy set and the Easter egg and sentiment are from the Cottontail Easter set.  See how beautifully they all work together?
Spring Blossoms
     My apologies for being a day late posting my DT card for the newest weekly challenge at QKR Stampede.  My cold has turned into bronchitis and I'm spending most of my time in bed, except to get up to go to the bathroom or to take my antibiotics.
     For my card today, I used an image from our sister company, Eureka Stamps, called "Frame Full of Flowers."  I thought it was perfect for spring card.
Baby Dragon Adventures
     Baby dragons are the most curious creatures ever and each new thing they encounter is a complete adventure in itself !   Purple leaves are amazing and watching them drift on a breeze is reason for giggles or even outright laughter.  :-D
     This sweet image is from Whimsy Stamps and the card will eventually find it's way into my eldest granddaughter's mailbox because she adores dragons (as do I!)
My color inspiration came from the challenge at The Outlawz
where they want to see lavender/purple monochromatics.
