Looong Day !

Some people think that being the Easter Bunny is a breeze job - only having to work one day a year.  But that's a tremendously "Long Day 24127" as this image from QKR Stampede shows.  Yep, it's Friday and that means another weekly challenge has started.  Come play - the theme is always "Anything Goes" and you can use any image you like, from any company.

I colored with ProMarkers, then used an oval die from Spellbinders to make an out-of-the-box cut of the image.  I had to trim a bit near the hand and at the top to fit the exact shape of the oval in the image.  The scalloped oval behind the image was cut from a sticker paper scrap with a QuicKutz die.  I had peeled off the protective cover and sprinkled it with Goldenrod glitter from Sparkle n Sprinkle.  I put the protective sheet back on top and then cut it with the die.

I layered the image onto the glittered piece.  I used a scrap of navy blue CS to make the background.  I wrapped it with a scrap of white, stitched ribbon (Crafty Ribbons) and added one of my signature bows.  The three little dots were bits that dropped out of the die cut and I put them onto the ribbon.

Finally, I printed and hand cut the sentiment before adding it to the bottom.

A Good Egg

Friday morning and another weekly challenge is starting over at QKR Stampede.  Our theme is always "Anything Goes."   This week, I'm still doing Easter cards and I used this delightful QKR image called "Bunny and Egg."

I colored the image with ProMarkers, then cut it with a Double-stitched Circle, Die-namics die from My Favorite Things.  I also cut the dp with that same die.  Notice the stitching on both the image edge and the dp circle?  The die is double stitched to give that effect when the die cuts are inlaid.

I printed and hand cut the sentiment, adding the plaid at the bottom of the card front, and finally tied a small bow using satin ribbon.  I added glitter to a medium Pop Dot and stuck it onto the bow for a teeny bit of sparkle.

Easter Ewe

When it comes to Easter 'critters,' most of us think of bunnies and chicks, but not sheep.  I just laughed out loud when I saw this image from Bugaboo Stamps.  It felt like a take-off on the Cadbury Chocolate commercials about everyone wanting to be the Easter Bunny.  :-D

I started by coloring the image with ProMarkers and pencils, then I cut it with a die from QuicKutz.  The frame behind it was cut from blue CS with a Sue Wilson die.  Because the die cut was narrower than what I wanted, I cut it in the middle (lengthwise) and attached one half to each side of my image rectangle.

I wrapped stitched, satin ribbon around the card front, added the framed image, and then used one of my signature, hand-sewn bows with a pearl.  Quick and easy design but the fancy frame makes it look much more complex.

Well, my weekend is winding down and I still have weeds to pull and plants to put in the family vegetable garden.  My granddaughter is going to help out and I'll be most grateful for that.  These old bones don't bend over as easily as they used to do.  Well, bending isn't really the problem - it's getting back to an upright stance that doesn't happen the way it did a few years ago.  :-D

Carrot Basket

I think the Easter Bunny got lost somewhere along the way or perhaps was distracted by something irresistible.  :-D

The image is an old one from Beary Wishes, which I think is now closed.  I colored it with ProMarkers, then die cut the image with a die from Spellbinders.  The plaid scrap was cut with a die from QuicKutz.

Everything went onto a deep, blue, card base.  I knew this was going to be used as an Easter card for a boy so I kept it simple and unembellished, letting the paper and die cut give all the visual interest.

Easter Morning

Another card for Easter, this time using an old image from Clear Dollar Stamps (now closed) back when they were handling Doodle Pantry images.  I was on  the Doodle Pantry DT for a couple of years and I really miss them.  It's sad that they are also closed now.  :-(

I was inspired by the colors at The Outlawz.

I used ProMarkers to color the image and the background dp, which is part of the set.  I cut both the image and the sentiment with pinpoint dies from Memory Box.  The flourish is a corner die cut (Spellbinders) and the bow is made from wrapped twine.

On this card, I did several layers and also use Pop Dots for the image and the sentiment.  I do multiple layers because I like having dimension and texture on a card.

Bunny Hugs

This sweet bunny image came from The Dragon's Lair and is for their Progressive Challenge on FB.  I know it would make a cute Easter card but I also think it would be great for a new baby card or even for a first birthday.  With the little hearts in the image, it would even work as a Valentine.

I colored with ProMarkers, deciding to use mostly my favorite lavenders and purples.  The image is cut with an Unbranded die.  I embossed the front of my card with my "Linen" folder, then wrapped a strip of lace around it.  I added a narrow strip of ribbon to the center of the lace and, unfortunately, it looks deep pink in the photo when it's actually lilac.

The image oval went on next, and finally I added the embroidered dragonfly as an embellishment.

Cupcake Bunny

Today I want to share with you a card which was a joint effort with a delightful 11 year-old.  I was working with a group of girls ages 9 to 11, who were sharing a play date about coloring.  I was introducing them to markers as a step up from crayons and I had taken with me a couple dozen images on a flash drive.

I colored a couple of printed samples to show them how alcohol markers worked and this particular young lady was interested in how I did the shading to emphasize a light source and shadows.  She took one of the images and did her own shading on it as I gave her suggestions.  She was so proud of it and wanted to know if it could go on birthday card for her mother.  She even gave me the idea for the sentiment so I printed another image with the sentiment added and she colored it again.  This one was even better!   She chose mostly pink markers this time, using gray markers for the shading.

I brought her colored image home with me and turned it into this card, then send it to her so that she'll have it for her mom's birthday on January 29.  Since this is the image (complements of Di's Digi Designs) for the Outlawz Progressive Challenge, I'll use this card as my entry over there.

After she colored the image (ProMarkers and Tombows), I cut it with a die from Spellbinders.  I layered that onto a pink card base and tied a simple bow using pink, gingham ribbon.  I kept the card design very CAS so that the fancy frame would be a focus point, along with her coloring.

Card Stock, Card Stock, Where's all my Card Stock?

Good morning.  Today's card is for the July (monthly) challenge at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies!  As always, our theme is "Anything Goes" as long as you use a 'critter.'  Now, that critter can be anything with fur, feathers, feet (2 or 4 or many), fantasy, scales, most anything -- as long as it is featured and not just a teeny-tiny embellishment tacked on at the last minute.  :-D

I used this delightful image from our sponsor, Limited Runs, called "Hiding Bunny."  But it reminded me of myself when I'm searching madly through the craft room piles, looking for a particular sheet of cardstock!  lol

I colored with my ProMarkers, then added the little scraps of CS to the corner so that it was obvious he was still searching through the stacks.  :-D  I used solid blue and brown CS for the background and layered the image piece on top.

The baker's twine (again, blue and brown) was added as the only embellishment because I wanted the card to stay very CAS.  I'm going to send this to a friend of mine, also a crafter, who will understand it and love the simplicity of it.  :-D

     Challenges:
Brown Sugar
Colour Crazy
Crafting from the Heart
Crafty Gals Corner
Crafty Sentiments
Creates and Makes
Pammie's Inky Pinkies
Through the Craft Room Door

By the way, Limited Runs has a Progressive Challenge every month on their Facebook site where using the image of the month allows you to get a free image to use again the next month, and so on.  Click HERE to find out about it.  It usually runs from mid-month to mid-month.

     Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie

Wishing You a Happy Easter

Happy Easter

It's a blessed Easter day and I'm wishing you the best of the Easter season. I have an adorable bunny to share with you but I have no information about it, unfortunately. I found it in my folder of images I had colored who-knows-when and this one was so long ago, I simply don't remember who made it, where I got it, or what I had planned for it but I'll bet it was something I prepared for Easter last year and then didn't use.

Isn't that just the softest thing you've ever seen? I want to reach right out and cuddle her gently in my hand. One thing I do know is that I used my ProMarkers to color that fuzzy bunny because I only have that many shades of gray in my collection of ProMarkers.  I probably used a black pencil for the more distinct hair lines and white gel ink for the highlights in the eyes.

Since the image was so large, I decided on a CAS design. I added ribbon, a double bow made of lace and satin, and some pink tissue paper to border two sides of the image.
