'Tis the Season

It looks like the whole house is sleeping in this morning, including the cats who decided that my bed was the only reasonable place to stay warm.  Made me feel right at home.  lol  But with everyone sleeping, it gives me time to get a couple of posts done without any competition for computer time.

This image came from the Progressive challenge at The Outlawz and is by LeAnn's World 101.

Snowman Joy

It's the first Thursday of the month and that means our newest challenge is starting for December at Crafting with an Attitude.  This is my last post as a DT member as I've taken on additional responsibilities on other teams I serve and I have to cut back some place.  I'm sad to leave but will be visiting as a player as often as possible.  Hugs to all my teamies.  :-D

This month, our challenge is sponsored by Beccy's Place and, if you were visiting me at all last month, you already know how much I adore her images!  She generously gave images to the DT for them to use but I chose one from my own collection.  This is "Boxed Snowman" but I can't find it in the store now so it may have been retired.

Ice Skating

Having grown up in an area where snow never falls and ice doesn't form on the ponds, any ice skating was done in a rink and the next town over actually had an ice rink.  I was probably 10 or 11 years old when I discovered a pair of ice skates in one of my Grammy's old trunks and had to try them on, just for curiosity sake.  They were a great fit, though a bit tight around the heel.  She had very narrow feet!

I clumped around in them for a couple of weeks and finally asked my mother if she would drive me over to the ice rink.  Forget that I'd never done anything other than roller skate and had no idea how to ice skate, nor that it was a 45 minute drive over to the next town - I was determined to go!

She was a loving mother and saw how much I wanted to try my hand (my feet?  my rear end?) at ice skating so as my Christmas present that year, she managed to scrape up the funds for 3 ice skating lessons and faithfully drove me to the rink three different times for the lessons.  What I learned is that ice skating isn't roller skating, that ice is harder than it looks, and that the Olympic ice skaters who look so magnificent probably did nothing other than practice, practice, practice all day long!

Fortunately for my backside, I quickly outgrew the skates as my feet increased in shoe size and Grammy's tiny skates had to be left behind.  However, this darling image (progressive challenge freebie) from Scrapper's Delights brought back all those wonderful memories.  :-D

Orange and White Halloween

I took to heart the challenge theme at Double D - to use nothing but orange and white on a project with an allowable neutral for a sentiment.  So, did I choose something easy like a sunflower image or leaves, or just a focal sentiment done in orange on a white background?  No, I chose an image from Mo's Digital Pencil, complete with Little Witch Henrietta and her farm kitten sitting there in the pumpkin patch.  What could I possibly do with just orange and white?  lol

I used 9 different shades of orange ProMarkers and Copics, everything from Pale Orange to Deep Mango.  Nobody ever said I took the easy road to the destination!  What do you think?  Can you find the patch job I had to do?

Colored with Copics & ProMarkers

Witches' Stew

My mother loved split pea soup - me, not so much.  She'd have a batch of it simmering on the stove as soon as the weather turned cold and, most often, that meant sometime in October.  With Halloween looming on the near horizon, she'd try to 'sell' the dish to me by calling it "The Witches' Stew."  Each year, she'd say it was a secret recipe which she'd procured with great difficulty from a dying witch and that it was guaranteed to cure all winter ills.  lol

I'm celebrating that memory by using this fun image and sentiment from Jan's Digi Stamps.  Remember a couple of days ago when I was telling you how excited I was to have found Jan's new store after the closure of Sparkle N Sprinkle?  If you didn't see that post, check it out HERE

Below is Gertie, the Witch with her bowl full of Witches' Stew.  (Image is actually named Witches' Brew.)  While I'm at it, let me share some fabulous news with you.  On Monday, November 4, 2019, Jan's Digi Stamps is going to be starting a new challenge blog!  Challenges will be posted on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month and they will have an Anything Goes theme.  You can  read all the Guidelines if you visit the blog.  Mark your calendars and be sure to become a follower so that you don't miss out on playing in them.

     OK, here's today's card:

Little Bear's Gift

I just adore the freebie image from Limited Runs for this month's Progressive Challenge.   It's an adorable little bear with  his arms open.  I thought he looked like he should be holding something and my thought was maybe a big bouquet of mums all done in lovely fall colors.  But every fall bouquet I tried just covered up his face and arm so I downsized my idea to a couple of roses wrapped in paper and it worked perfectly!

New Baby

I always love the challenge at Beccy's Place and, while the theme is always "Anything Goes," Beccy gives an optional theme each time as well.  She also gives away a freebie and this month the freebie has the optional colors in it.  I was influenced by both the colors and the horse.  I chose a different horse from my collection of Beccy's Place images but it definitely works for the card I made.

Here's my card and the colors from the blog.  To check out the free image, go to the blog (link is above.)

Out for a Swim

It's Friday again and that means we have a new challenge starting at QKR Stampede.  I'm using this fun QKR image, called "Out for a Swim."   The sentiment is all mine - printed with a computer font and hand cut with scissors.  I admit that's my favorite way to add a sentiment because it allows me to chose the font style and to add the silly sentiments which seem to pop into my head (unbidden, I might add) when I'm choosing images to use.  :-D

The Mermaid and the Diver

I have another fun summer-y card to share today and I seem to be on a kick of mermaids this week.  :-D  Maybe it's just the need for something cool (or at least cool colors) in the midst of yet another predicted heat wave in my part of the country.  Looks like we're faced with another 5 to 7 days of over 100F temperatures.  Yuck.  I'm really tired of it.

This card features an image from The Paper Shelter which I think is adorable.

Worm in an Apple

Mr. & Mrs. Worm have found a new home in a left over, picnic apple!  I know, I know, it's usually ants who show up at our picnics, but this couple was in serious need of a home and a meal so an apple, deliberately left behind by some kindly person after the last picnic of the summer, seemed a perfect choice.

(Sorry, I had to take a break right there.  Queenie, the new kitten, decided it was nap time and that somehow required that I hold her in the crook of my elbow while she 'nursed' on my hand.  Of course, I couldn't put her down until she woke up.  Sigh....)

The image on this card is for the latest Progressive Challenge at Limited Runs.  Actually, it's two images which I combined for the card.

Butterfly Globe

When I saw this image at Bugaboo Stamps, I fell in love with the peaceful feel of the butterflies in the globe.  Most of us think of globes as being snow globes and, therefore, only for winter but this one was unusual and I immediately wanted to work with it.

Autumn Butterflies

Most of us think of spring when we think "butterflies" but I've noticed that there are more of them in my garden in the fall than in the spring.  I don't know what's growing there that time of year that they particularly like, but whatever it is, they prefer it to what's there in the spring.

Sibling Bonds

In my world, nothing is more important than family.  If you think you've seen this before, you may have but today I'm using this as my DT card for the Crafting with an Attitude August challenge and the image, "Tiger Cubs," is from our wonderful sponsor, Morgan's Art World.  I had to dig back to cards I've previously created because I simply ran out of both time and ability to craft anything new due to the shoulder problems I've been having.  Too many Christmas cards last week, I guess.  :-D

Shared Bravery

Ever notice when one friend is acting bravely, everybody else feels more brave?  I'm celebrating bravery with my DT card for the challenge at QKR Stampede this week.  This time, instead of a QKR image, I've used a darling image from our sister brand, Eureka Stamps, called "Best Friends 47501."

I've used a color combo which is a bit outside my usual combos which always utilize purples/ aquas/ pinks.

This color combo inspired by the colors
