Partied Too Much

My granddaughter's roommate has a birthday coming up and I made this card for her.  These are her fur babies, Eva (the pug) and Luna (the cat.)  Luna is now fully grown but this is such a memorable photo of the two of them shortly after Luna came to live there that I just had to use it.

This one is a CAS design and I do a lot of CAS, mainly because I mail so many of my cards and flatter is better with the price of postage these days.  :-D

Pumpkin Thyme

I've rediscovered Jan's Digi Stamps, which I used to get through Sparkle N Sprinkle.  When SnS closed, I was afraid I'd lost Jan's beautiful images forever but then I found that she has her own store, which you can check out here.

These images are from two of her new autumn sets, which I'm using on a Thanksgiving card.  I merged the images and I love the effect of distance between them.

No Candles - Just Cake

Do you have someone close who's about to celebrate one of those landmark birthdays but they just don't want anything to tattletale their age?  Yeah?  Me, too, but my daughter shall remain anonymous.  lol  She's less than a month from her birthday and, no, I won't tell you which one.  I mean, really, however old she is, her age makes me so much older!

This card with an image from Mo's Digital Pencil is in honor of not saying or doing anything which might tell her age.

Colors from the challenge at Mo's.
This was easy since purple is my fav color

Not-Very-Spooky Mummy

I seem to be doing a lots of cards with Digi Doodle Studios stamps on them recently but I really have discovered several in  the store which I loved the instant I saw them.  Of course, they jumped right into my cart without even asking if it was OK so I had to use them.  :-D

The image on this Halloween card is the freebie they gave for Kit and Clowder this month.  Isn't he adorable?

Magic Window Card

This is my first ever Magic Window card and I got both the inspiration and instructions at the Butterfly Challenge.  Each fortnight they have a new 'wheel' with six different options which you can use in making your entries.  This time, I used all six of the options in one card: Mandarin, Mint, Magnolia (colors); markers, metal charms, and the Magic Window technique.

Here's the card front, a gate fold,

and the inside.  When the card is opened,
the diamond-shaped 'window' slides open as if by magic!

ProMarker used to 'dye' the embroidered butterfly mandarin orange
The butterfly paper was in a prize pack from Butterfly Challenges
The Medallion doily was also part of the prize pack
2 Metal Charms - glued together on the medallion
QuicKutz die used inside

This card made me think about one of my favorite activities when I was a much younger version of myself - chasing butterflies!  I didn't catch many but lots of happy, free time, hours were filled with anticipation of having the largest collection of butterflies ever!  lol

This is an old image, originally from Karen's - a shop which closed 3 or 4 years back, but an image I dearly love so I use it nearly every Christmas season.  Again, another of my favorites; a little animal wearing a Santa hat which I've used because I have only one or two actual Santa images and I actually prefer cute animals to Santa anyway.  :-D

Pip, Pip, Hooray!

Another Friday rolls around and it's almost autumn; time to think about school, pep rallies, and cold weather football!  One of my granddaughters is a cheer leader at the local community college (her first year there) and she has her 18th birthday coming up shortly so I used this fun image from QKR Stampede for her card.  It's called, amazingly enough, "Cheer Leader" and she's obviously dressed for those chilly, windblown, autumn days.

Yep, it's time for another new challenge at QKR Stampede and I hope we're going to see you playing along with us this week.

A Christmas Mouse with Holly

Digi Doodle Studios has a sketch challenge over on Facebook this month and I pulled this adorable little mouse with his holly sprig out of my collection of DDS images and now I can add one more Christmas card to my stash.

I love using creatures that are wearing Santa caps for Christmas cards rather than actual Santa images but that's probably because I don't have very many images of Santa or Father Christmas but lots of animal images.

Here's my card and the sketch.

Little Bear's Gift

I just adore the freebie image from Limited Runs for this month's Progressive Challenge.   It's an adorable little bear with  his arms open.  I thought he looked like he should be holding something and my thought was maybe a big bouquet of mums all done in lovely fall colors.  But every fall bouquet I tried just covered up his face and arm so I downsized my idea to a couple of roses wrapped in paper and it worked perfectly!

Crisp Mornings and Coffee

It's Friday and I have another QKR Stampede DT card to share for our Anything Goes challenge.  My image today is called "First Morning Cup" and the sentiment (which is mine) should explain everything.

I love fall !  During the summers (which are hot, hot, HOT in my part of the world), I rarely drink coffee or any other hot drink.  I do love my coffee so when fall rolls around and the air is crisp, I get to enjoy it again.  However, be warned - no matter what time I awake, nothing comes before the coffee!

I have one of those coffee makers which is on a timer and it's set to start 20 minutes before I normally get up.  The smell of the coffee brewing is an incentive to crawl out of bed, visit the little room, and find the coffee mug.  I admit I'm not the most pleasant person first thing in the a.m. -- in fact, many in the family have referred to me as a grouch, a curmudgeon, even a bi_ _ _!  Who me?  I'm none of those things.  I'm simply caffeine deprived.  :-D

Unicorn in Autumn

We all know about unicorns, though some will tell you they are only a mythical creature.  I am of a different persuasion.  I believe unicorns are like pocket dragons - just because you don't see them doesn't mean they are only a fantasy.

I've been told by a lovely garden fairy that unicorns change the colors of their manes and tales seasonally, like the leaves of a tree.  Hmmm, that would give them an advantage when it comes to hiding in plain sight, wouldn't it?  Let me give you an example of what might happen.

Fabrika Fantasy has one of the most magnificent unicorn images which I chose for this card.  Notice how his mane, tail, and hooves blend in perfectly with the fall foliage, and his body takes on the pale shadows of the low-light dawn?

I used the sketch from Cheerful Sketches.

Pumpkins for Sale

OK, we had two days of temperatures in the mid- and low-80s (F) with a nice breeze blowing yesterday and I actually saw some leaves scuttering around in the wind so my hopes that summer temperatures were gone for the year rose and we had a party last night.

Then I listened to the long range forecast and we're due to have another 2 days of temp 100F or above over the weekend.  Sigh... I knew it was too good to last and that I should never have celebrated.  That's it - not another word from me about temperatures or celebrations until at least November!  That way, I won't jinx it.  lol

Today's card has an image from Digi Doodle Studios with lots of pumpkins for sale and no, the kitten and puppy are NOT for sale.  :-D  I used lots of my favorite fall colors - especially the combo of orange & green or orange & brown.  This time a combo of all three of them.

Queenie's Curiosity

I know I already posted today but this one has nothing to do with cards, only an update on the new feline baby, Queenie.  I shared a couple of photos with you a month or so ago (see here) but when you're a young kitten, you change on a daily basis so here are some more recent photos.

Queenie is big enough now to jump up on the computer desk on her own (in a 3 jump move from floor to chair to desk top.)  She has developed an almost fanatical fascination with the printer.  She can hear the sound of it starting up from two rooms away and those sounds prompt an immediate response from her.  She is up and on the desk before any paper has begun to move!

She watches intently as the paper slides out and as soon as all noises have ceased, she gently paws at the paper.  Once convinced that nothing more will issue forth, she lies down to "guard" the printer and the papers so that nothing escapes!

Of course, her guarding is so fierce that even I am not allowed to remove the paper from the tray.  Sometimes it's several minutes before I can retrieve whatever it is I've printed.  The lesson learned here is not to print anything which I might need immediately.  Until her attention is grabbed by something far away from the desk, she (and her claws) stand guard.  :-D

Magical Birthday

Welcome to another Friday, that magical day when the weekend begins (or at least hopes of it begin.)  Fridays are also the day we start our newest challenge at QKR Stampede.  Our theme is always "Anything Goes" and while the DT gals use QKR or Eureka (our sister company) images, you may use any image you choose to enter the challenge.  If you do choose a QKR (or Eureka) image, you increase your chances of winning by a considerable amount because those projects are put into a separate draw.

For my card today, I'm using "Mouse Magician" from QKR and it comes as either a digital image or a rubber stamp.  This is a birthday card for a 10 year old who has recently been introduced to the Harry Potter books - yes, the books, not the movies, though I'm sure those will follow immediately!  But right now, he loves old fashioned books with pages and covers.  :-D

Christmas Reindeer in Blue

My second post for the day and this one features a Bugaboo Stamps reindeer.  There's a back story to this which I want to share.  A friend and fellow DT member used the prettiest quilting die on a card last week and I fell in love with the die.  I emailed her and, being a good enabler, she shared with me a link to the online shop where she had gotten hers.

When I visited, my plan was to mind my budget and buy only that one die.  But... well, if you're a true crafter, you already know what happened.  I saw another quilt die that I liked, couldn't decide between them so they both went into my cart.  Then I noticed that if I purchased additional products, I could get free shipping and the shipping cost was pretty much the same as another die (ok, maybe  two), so when all was said and done, I had 5 new die sets in the cart!

I used one of them as the background on this card, turned as they say in quilting, 'on point.'

I always love the challenge at Beccy's Place and, while the theme is always "Anything Goes," Beccy gives an optional theme each time as well.  She also gives away a freebie and this month the freebie has the optional colors in it.  I was influenced by both the colors and the horse.  I chose a different horse from my collection of Beccy's Place images but it definitely works for the card I made.

Paris in the Fall

A little breath of Paris this morning with an 'all-die-cuts' card, something a little bit different from my normal 'hand-colored-image' style.  The Eiffel Tower die cut was sent to me by a friend so I have no idea what company made the die.  Sorry.  However, the larger white flowers along the left side of the Tower, to which I added glitter, were cut with a Spellbinders die and the smallest flower on the right side of the Tower (cut from pearl-ized paper) was cut with a Memory Box die.  All of those were cut from scraps.  The sentiment is heat embossed with white EP.

#1 on Your Birthday

Our September challenge is starting today at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies and, as always, our theme is Anything Goes with a Critter.  We're sponsored this month by QKR Stampede and they have so many adorable creatures and critters, including bugs and snakes, any of which would count in our challenge.  But I chose to use this darling "Beaver" image and added one more masculine birthday card to my stash.

ProMarkers
QuicKutz die
Argyle dp from DCWV
Sheer gold ribbon
Accordion fold bow

     Challenges:
Creative Knockouts
Cutie Pie
Digi Choosday
House that Stamps Built
Passion for ProMarkers
Scrappy Land
Simon Says Stamp
Work It Weds.

Come play along with us this month, won't you?  Remember, you can also enter any creations made for our challenge over at QKR Stampede where their theme is always "Anything Goes."  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie
