Day 19, Letter "Q"- Beccy's Place 30 Days of Christmas

Wow, this month is really rocketing by!  Here we are on Day 19 of the 30 Days of Christmas at Beccy's Place and our letter prompt is "Q."   Not an easy one; I pretty much feel limited to quilting or quilling and since it's been years since I did any quilling, I turned to Quilted.  I used Beccy's (free) Three French Hens image from her 12 Days of Christmas set, along with one of my Quilting dies.

My card design was inspired by the sketch at Tuesday Morning
but I stretched it to allow for a horizontal design.

Being Good (for Santa)

Today's image is the freebie for the Progressive Challenge at LeAnn's World 101, although I reversed the image using tools in MS Word.  I colored her in typical Christmas colors of red and green and kept that combo throughout the card.

Helpful Kitties

This is my last project for the Cat Lovers Hop and I'm going to miss it.  Hopefully, it will be back again next October and maybe you can come play if you didn't get in this year.

Those of you who have had kittens at or near the holiday season, or even some of our fully grown cats, will be familiar with how "helpful" those little fluff balls can be, especially when it comes to wrapping packages and tying (untying?) the ribbons.

These little sweethearts (found in a clip art file I downloaded a few years back) decided to  decorate the front of a Christmas card.

I knew I wanted to play in the Color Dare challenge
and was delighted to find it was a monochromatic challenge.

Once I saw that Color Dare inspiration, I knew I could use my MS Word software to get the monochromatic green image.  When I had that part done, I printed it, added some highlights with ProMarkers and white gel pen, then cut the image and the green CS mat with dies from Spellbinders.  Those went onto a green card base and I added the 2 jute cord strings, tied into a square knot.

I found some old Christmas embellishments from K & Co., and added the holly leaves plus one tiny pine cone right next to the jute cord knot.  There are tiny red gems for the berries on the holly leaves.

Poinsettia Girl

Look, after all the Halloween and Thanksgiving cards this month, I've actually done a Christmas card!   That beautiful image is from Lemon Shortbread.

I used the sketch at Try Stamping on Tuesday
for inspiration, but turned it sideways.

I colored with ProMarkers, added yellow Nuvo Crystal Drops to the centers of the poinsettias, then used a Memory Box die to cut the image.  The dp is from an old stack by K & Co. found in my stash, and the deep, forest green is CS which I embossed with my "Linen" folder.  The leaves were cut with a Cheery Lynn die and I added glitter to them for some Christmas sparkle.

The card base is made from kraft CS and, after the papers were added but before the leaves or image, I wrapped sparkly, golden, ribbon around the bottom, then added all the other pieces, including the sentiment.

Mermaid's World

I had a fun couple of coloring days and the best part was sharing them with my eldest granddaughter.  She colored a couple of images which you'll see on cards later on and then, on this Mermaid from Fabrika Fantasy, I colored the background and she did the mermaid.  It seems our coloring styles are very much alike.  Other than knowing which of us did which part, I don't think I'd be able to tell any difference.  We were both using polychromos pencils.

In putting the card together, I used the sketch

Rather than using dies to cut the image, this time I did the old tried-and-true tearing on the image and again on the mat.   The wide strip is dp from K & Co. and the narrow strip at the top is ribbon from my stash.  The fish charm is actually a shank button with the shank removed.

We're nearly half-way through the weekend (depending on when you started counting it as the 'weekend') and mine has been productive and busy.  Hope yours is going well.  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie
