Lady of the Roses

No Halloween cards today, no Thanksgiving, & no Christmas, just a birthday card for a young princess.  :-)  The image came from Moondrea Designs and she's called "Lady of the Roses."

I used Ohuhu alcohol markers to color her, then cut her with one of my first dies from QuicKutz.  I inked the edges, then printed and cut the sentiment with a die from Avery Elle.  I wanted a very CAS card so added only a hand-sewn bow for embellishment.  The ribbon for the bow was originally white but I 'dyed' it with a marker, then added the tiny half-pearl.

While I use both on my cards, I find myself reaching for ribbon much more often than I reach for and use twine or cord.  I think it's because I can tie so many different kinds of bows with ribbon and I have the advantage of being able to make white ribbon any color I like to more closely match a color in the image or on the card.  Either way, ribbon is my "go to" for feminine cards!

Girl with Caterpillar

I'm back with another delightful Mariola Budek image, this time of a young girl with a caterpillar on an autumn leaf.  I colored it in obvious autumn colors using a combination of Sanjoki and ProMarkers, then cut it on 2 sides with a sawtooth die from CC Designs.  I accented those two sides using a cross stitch die from Lawn Fawn (Lawn Cuts.)

The background dp is from a textured stack by DCWV.  The sentiment was cut from a K & Co. paper pad and the butterfly gem was a Studio 8 embellishment.

Bunny Birthday Card

Here I go featuring another Mariola Budek image on my card, this one a commissioned birthday card for a young girl who loves bunnies.  I colored with Sanjoki alcohol markers, then cut the image with a QuicKutz die.  The happy birthday sentiment was cut with a die from Sizzix.  The papers are scraps which originally came from a Recollections stack.   (...and, yes, she loved the card!  :-D)

You're my Best Friend

This morning I'm sharing another card with an image by Mariola Budek, an artist I discovered early this summer.  Can't you tell these two are Best Friends?  I haven't added the sentiment yet because I'm considering using it as a birthday card but haven't decided positively.  I have  great-granddaughter who would love it regardless of the occasion.  :-D

The image is colored using ProMarkers in a rainbow of fall colors, then cut with an Unbranded die.  I cut an oval from orange CS using a die from Spellbinders and mounted the image on top of it so that the orange would show through the negative, open spaces.  I mounted that onto gray CS which had been dry embossed with my Linen EF.

I trimmed a scrap of striped dp to fit the A2 card front and added a narrow strip of washi tape to the left edge.  I did a hand-made bow using grosgrain ribbon to which I added sequins, one on top of the other.

Confirmation

This lovely little image is from LeAnn's World and is for their Progressive Challenge.  I'm sure she was meant to be a bride but since I needed a confirmation card, and since she can easily pass for a young girl, she graces the front of this very CAS card.

Colored with my ProMarkers, then cut with a Cuts stitched die.  Sentiment printed and cut with an Avery Elle die.  Edges of both die cuts inked with gold inkpad.

Cake for a Special Birthday

Today's card features an image from Conie Fong called Abbie with Cake and it's my first DT card for the month of August.  Isn't she adorable?  She just had to be done in shades of pink because she's so perfectly sweet and girly.

I colored her with ProMarkers and cut the image with a die from Spellbinders.  The 4 corner pieces were originally 2 die cuts (also Spellbinders) which I cut in half and added to the corners of the image.

The background is a (very) old piece of scrapbooking paper.  I'm sure it's been in my stash at least a dozen years!  I know it was one of the first papers I ever bought for scrapbooking and that was before I really got into card making.  I started blogging about a year after I shifted over to card making and that was in February of  2011 so that would be 11+ years and it was in the scrapbooking stash for a couple of years before that.

The satin ribbon and hand-tied, double loop, bow are Really Reasonable Ribbon and have also been in the stash for a long time.  Sentiment was printed and cut with an Avery Elle die, then I inked the edges with marker before applying it to the card.

Come play with us this month.  Remember, #Conie Fong has 2 challenges each month on the Facebook page for anyone using a Conie Fong image; one for coloring of images only, and the other for completed projects using colored images.  You can win more of Conie's fabulously cute images!

New Life

The first Monday in May and time for another new challenge at Jan's Digi Stamps.  This will be our last challenge until the first Monday in September.  We're taking the summer off (or winter, if you're in the Southern Hemisphere.)  Our theme is always "Anything Goes" and you can use any stamp/digi from any company to enter our challenges.  However, it's worth remembering that if you do use a JDS image, your entry goes into a separate drawing only for those entries using JDS digi stamps and therefore, your chances of winning are increased by a huge amount!

My card today features an image from  the set called "Early Spring Nest" and I'm using it for a baby shower card for a new little girl expected early this summer.  The sentiment is mine.

Rainy Days & Mondays...

I did my best to keep this one CAS because I wanted the image to be the focus.  The girl with the umbrella is this month's image for the Progressive Challenge at Stamper's Delights, and I added the raindrops which are from a set by Jan's Digi Stamps called April Showers.

A Gift for You

During the time I was getting sick, then hospitalized, and then in the respiratory recovery facility during my battle with COVID-19, I missed out on a few of the progressive challenges I like to follow.  Now, I'm playing catch up where I can and purchasing an image if needed to get back in.  :-D  Today's card is a make up at Stampers Delights using an image called "Gift."

I'm using this as a birthday card and at the moment, it's going into my stash of feminine birthday cards.

Garden Flowers and a Ladybug

It's a beautiful spring day where I am, although the prediction is that we'll get an afternoon shower or two but they won't last long or bring much rain.  The sprinkles are fine with me, as are the cooler temperatures we're going to have over the next three days.

Let's celebrate gardens and flowers and even ladybugs!  This is an image from Bugaboo Stamps and I adore all of their Fancy Sunbonnet images.  :-D

Dragon Rider

My oldest granddaughter has a passion for dragons (something she no doubt gets from me!) and I thought this would make a perfect birthday card for her.  Personally, I think dragons are the most perfect creatures in the world, especially my favorites, Pocket Dragons.

You haven't heard about pocket dragons?  I referred to them in a post a long while back but let me tell you again why they are favorites of mine.  Pocket dragons are so tiny they are nearly invisible.  They always come in your favorite color, whatever it is.  People are rarely aware that they are hosting pocket dragons because the dragons are so quiet and peaceful.  They sleep in the pockets of your clothing, which is generally what they are doing when they spend time with humans.  If you reach your hand down into the pocket of your coat or your jeans and find a tiny bit of lint, puffed into a soft pillow shape, for sure you have a pocket dragon who's been napping in your pocket!

I'm not sure if this is a pocket dragon in his daytime form but he's in my favorite color so he might turn into one at night when he's sleeping.  :-D  The image is from LeAnne's World 101.

I used colors from House that Stamps Built
and the sketch from the Outlawz.

Guest Designer at Conie Fong !

I can hardly tell you how excited I am today.  I've been invited to be a Guest Designer at Conie Fong's Facebook challenges for February and March!!  I discovered and fell in love with Conie's lovely artwork way back when and being a Guest Designer is such a delight.  Maybe some day I can join the team on a more permanent basis and that would be just as exciting but for today, I'm looking forward to the opportunities to share with you my designs as GDT.

This sweet image is called Bella with Rose and I thought it made a perfect Valentine card.  Of course, a certain member of my family seem to think it should serve as her birthday card but that's not my intention this time.  :-D

Going to Disneyland

My eldest granddaughter is going to celebrate her 21st birthday with a trip to Disneyland with friends.  I was working on her card last night when she stopped by.  We had dinner together and then retired to the craft room.  I had completely forgotten that this was half completed and in plain sight on top of the desk.  She commented on how I had used the dies to cut it, and began making suggestions on design and embellishment.

Since the sentiment wasn't visible (I had quickly tucked it away under a pile of scraps), I just fell in with design talk, undertook a few of her suggestions (the flowers and brad centers), and set about finishing the card with her very much a part of it.  She did find another image I had already colored and asked if she could choose dies and embellishment elements to make it into a card.  Since that distracted her from what I was doing, I gave her free reign with that one and you'll see it posted to my blog when she gets it done.  After she was safely gone, I added the sentiment.  :-D

For this one today, the image is from LeAnn's World 101.

Warm Hat Girl

This sweet image is from All Dressed Up and it's a wonderful image for staying warm on a cold, winter-y day.  I love the play in the sentiment (which is part of the image) on the old saying "Cold hands, warm heart."  This time, both are warm.  :-D
