Hug Your Teddy

In our challenges over on the Conie Fong FB page, we always have an Anything Goes theme as long as you are using a Conie Fong image.  (Haven't joined the Facebook page?  Do it now.  It's quick, easy, and free.  Plus, you can find freebies there, too, so that you can join the challenge if you haven't already purchased some of Conie's images. :-D )  But this month, the DT ladies decided that we'd all do cards using some of Conie's fairies.  There are several and they're all simply darling!  I used one called "Precious" and I love how she's hugging her teddy so sweetly.  I reversed the image before printing it.

I colored her with my Sanjoki markers, cut the image with a QuicKutz die, and then used a Uchida punch on the corners.  I found two scraps of CS in different shades of blue, both of which are reflected in the coloring, and I used my newest die from Hero Arts to cut and emboss the pieces I used for the background.  When I assembled the card, I tucked the edges of the image under some of the cut leaves and flower petals.

The sentiment is also from Conie Fong and I merged it with the image before printing.  My final touch was a hand-sewn bow with a pearl sewn onto it.  It was made with white ribbon, but I 'dyed' it with one of my markers.

Come play in our June challenge.  You may use any Conie Fong image - it doesn't have to be a fairy.  We love being inspired by you.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Teddy Hugs

My card today features another image from Mariola Budek, one of my favorite artists (whom I discovered in the last year.)  I think this little girl is so sweet, hugging her teddy bear and giving (or getting) comfort.

The image is colored with water colors, then cut with a pinpoint circle die from Dare 2B Artzy.  I inked the edges of the circle with a ProMarker.  The pale, yellow frame was cut and embossed with a die from Spellbinders.  The background dp came from Stampin' Up.  The sentiment was printed and cut with an Avery Elle die.

     Challenges:

If you're having one of those days, find your teddy and give him a hug.  :-D  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

You're my Best Friend

This morning I'm sharing another card with an image by Mariola Budek, an artist I discovered early this summer.  Can't you tell these two are Best Friends?  I haven't added the sentiment yet because I'm considering using it as a birthday card but haven't decided positively.  I have  great-granddaughter who would love it regardless of the occasion.  :-D

The image is colored using ProMarkers in a rainbow of fall colors, then cut with an Unbranded die.  I cut an oval from orange CS using a die from Spellbinders and mounted the image on top of it so that the orange would show through the negative, open spaces.  I mounted that onto gray CS which had been dry embossed with my Linen EF.

I trimmed a scrap of striped dp to fit the A2 card front and added a narrow strip of washi tape to the left edge.  I did a hand-made bow using grosgrain ribbon to which I added sequins, one on top of the other.

Day 17,"O" - Beccy's Place 30 Days of Christmas

One more day and another letter of the alphabet ("O") for a prompt in the 30 Days of Christmas at Beccy's Place.  Instead of doing another card, I've started making gift card holders using instructions I found on YouTube.  You'll see several of them over the next 10 days or so.  Not only do I need some, my daughter wants a half dozen or so for her stash.  :-D

Here's the first one, inspired by the letter "O" - Ornament and Octagon.  The image is Beccy's "Stanley's Bauble", which I think of as an Ornament.

Colored with pencil, blended with gamsol
Glitter added to the Ornament
Image cut with Octagon die from QuicKutz
Embossed CS used to make the folder
White satin ribbon for the tie

Here's a photo of the inside of one of these gift card folders, although not this one as you can tell from the color of the folder and the embossing.

I'm making a sentiment piece for the other slot but it has glitter on it and that's still drying.

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend.  For those of you already out Christmas shopping, take a breath!  You still have more than a month.  :-D  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Teddy's Wagon

I've been digging through my collection of Di's Digi Designs again and found this image - perfect for a Thanksgiving celebration.

I used a sketch from The Outlawz, turned on its side
and colors (again) from Time Out.

I colored with ProMarkers, using muted autumn shades.  I trimmed the image to size and layered it onto a scrap piece of digital dp left over from another project.  I cut the orange frame with a Memory Box die and put that on top of the image and dp.

I found that ribbon in my autumn stash and added the two strips of it, top and bottom.  I printed the sentiment, hand cut it, and inked the edges before adding it.  I did small pearls in each corner, then added the two leaves and the pumpkin on Pop Dots for some dimension and texture.

I think this will be a perfect Thanksgiving card for one of the boys in my family.  :-D

     Challenges:
Angie's Digital Stamps
Cute N Crafty
Lil Patch of Crafty Friends
Outlawz Twisted Thurs
Pammie's Inky Pinkies
Send a Smile 4 Kids
Stamping Sensations (bear, bounty)

Stockings Were Hung...(and filled!)

Day 4 of the Christmas in July daily challenges at Catch the Bug and I'm still on target for playing along each day.  Today I used a Bugaboo Stamps image with the cutest little teddy bear filling up a stocking - with himself, not with toys.  :-D

The theme for today is a BINGO challenge and I managed to use all the items listed on the board.

I started by coloring with ProMarkers, then I fussy cut the image with scissors.  I die cut a stitched circle to go behind the image (Die-namics) and mounted the image onto Pop Dots before putting it onto the circle.  It gave some great dimension.

I found a scrap of burlap and used that behind the image/circle which added wonderful texture.  The rectangle of dp was a scrap from my Christmas paper stash and I inked the edges before adding the sparkly washi tape to it.

I dug through my stash of handmade bows, found one made from ivory ribbon instead of white, and used it.  It better matched the beige card base.  I printed, hand cut, matted, and added the sentiment, then put three small pearls in the lower corner of the burlap.

     Challenges:

That's it for me today.  Hopefully, I'll  be back tomorrow with a project for Day 5 of the Christmas in July challenges.  See you then.

Also, don't forget to check out the Birthday Bash with all the great prizes over at Challenges for Days!   Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Bear's Best Friend

So I have to ask, if kids love teddy bears and consider them to be 'best friends,' why shouldn't a bear-child have a teddy bear best friend?  That was my first thought when I spotted this image over at QKR Stampede, where their theme this challenge is "Friends are special."

I based my colors on the theme at CAS-Colors & Sketches.

The image is colored with ProMarkers and die cut with a die from Spellbinders.  Everything is matted with daffodil yellow CS.  The slate gray background piece is embossed with a folder from Sizzix.  I added a bit of twine and three buttons since this is a masculine card and it didn't need a lot of frills.  I thought it would be perfect for a young boy's birthday card.

     Challenges:
2 Sisters -- Embossing
Chocolate, Coffee & Cards -- Teddy bears
Crafty Little Fairies -- For the boys
Crafty Hands -- Embossed background
Created with Love -- Friends
Totally Gorjuss -- String's the thing

This is supposed to be my post for tomorrow but I'm posting it now because I can't get Blogger's scheduler to work.  Sigh.  You don't mind seeing it a bit early, do you?  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie
