Nailed It !

Another Friday so we start another Anything Goes challenge at QKR Stampede.  For today's card, I've used this fun, masculine image called "Carpenter" which celebrates all those summer projects which have been waiting on the 'Honeydo' list since last Christmas!  I'm probably going to use this for another birthday card.

I colored with ProMarkers, then cut the image with a die from Spellbinders.  The sentiment was printed and cut by hand.  I added metal brads above the sentiment and in the lower corner.

Fat Wool ?

This delightfully, silly sheep is the image from the progressive challenge at Limited Runs this month and I couldn't decide if he was fat or just super wooley.  Obviously, he got a bit miffed with me over that.  lol

I colored with ProMarkers, then used a frame which was a leftover I made by cutting the center for another project (Spellbinders die.)  I layered the frame on top of the sheep image.  I printed and fussy cut the sentiment, then added one of my signature hand-sewn bows (with a pearl) on top of the shiny, silver ribbon along the left border.

Bugaboo Father's Day

Each year I make Father's Day cards for my son, son-in-law, and grandson, all of whom are terrific fathers.  This year, I started with a Bugaboo Stamps image on my grandson's card.

I used the colors from the Catch the Bug challenge
and the sketch from Sketch Saturday.

I colored the image with ProMarkers, then cut it with a die from Spellbinders.  I used pale blue CS to make the card base and the two strips are scraps of CS from my 'use it up' stash.  I printed and hand cut the sentiment.

Summer Sunshine

Another quickly typed post today, this time featuring a lovely image from Ching-Chou Kuik.  It's taken me nearly the entire month to complete this one due to the shoulder problems.

Colored with ProMarkers, then fussy cut.  I cut two pieces of DCWV dp with a Spellbinders die, inlaid them and added the image.  Everything went onto a kraft card base and I added lace and the sentiment.  I tied two of my signature bows with pearls and added those to the image frame.

I'm Late !

It's not often that I forget a birthday or forget to mail birthday cards I've already made, but it does happen and it annoys me when it does.  :-D   Best I can say is that I try to be prepared by having a belated card my stash which I can grab and send as soon as I realize I've missed a birthday.  Best I can do when I forget to mail a card already made it to put it in the mail that day!

I used one of my QKR Stampede DT cards as an opportunity to add a belated card to my stash.  Today starts a new weekly challenge at QKR and our theme is always "Anything Goes."  The image I used for this card is called "Jogging 24211."

I used my ProMarkers to color the image, then cut it with an embossed, Spellbinders' die.  I chose a black card base, wrapped silver ribbon around the front, added a polka dot, bowtie, bow, and adhered the printed sentiment.  Clean, simple, and masculine.  I love doing masculine cards - they are simpler than frilly and feminine projects, are usually easy to mail being flat, and simple cards are usually take less time to make.  Besides, I have more males in my family than females.  :-D

Rose Girl

I had such fun coloring this beautiful rose girl image which is the image this month for the progressive challenge at Scrapper's Delights.

I colored with ProMarkers, then fussy cut the image and adhered it to an embossed piece of confetti CS.  The embossing was done with a folder from Leane Creatif.

I cut a double frame using plain QuicKutz dies.  The smaller of the two frames is embossed with glittered embossing powder and has wonderful sparkle, though that's hard to see in the photo.

The papers are all from DCWV.  I  printed and hand cut the sentiment, then added the tiny, pink bow.  The silver in the middle of the bow is Liquid Pearls.

Make a Wish Birthday

Today I'm featuring an image from Bugaboo Stamps on another birthday card for my stash.  I did the design as a gate fold with the short flap on the right hand side.

I colored with ProMarkers, then cut the image and the frames with simple, square dies from QuicKutz.  The butterfly piece on the left flap was cut with a die which was loaned to me by a crafting buddy and I think it's by Memory Box but I can't swear to that.  I added faux stitching to each frame.

I added glittery gel ink to the dandelions and here's a close up photo to show the sparkle.

I  made the card base from kraft CS.  Before adding the framed image to the right hand flap, I wrapped the flap with ribbon.  I dug through my scrap ribbons and found the two white flowers, adding them above and below the image.

Birthday Giraffes

I have a dear friend who moved away last year (I mean really away - like 350 miles away!) and she loves giraffes.  For as many years as we've known each other, I've made her birthday cards with giraffe images on them.  I decided just because she lives in another city now was no reason to change that pattern.  I just had to make her card flat and easy to mail.

I colored with ProMarkers, then cut the image with a simple rectangle die from QuicKutz.  The card base is kraft CS, and I added an embossed scrap to the background.  I inked the edges of both the image piece and the embossed rectangle.

The ribbon was in my stash and I used one of my signature, hand-sewn bows which I had 'dyed' with a yellow ProMarker.  Ribbons and bows are definitely my favorite embellies!  I put a tiny drop of Liquid Pearls on the bow to hide the thread I used when wrapping the center of the bow.  I also added three, flat, metal brads to the top corner.

I put the birthday sentiment on the inside, made with die cut letters and words.  The letters were made with a Memory Box die and the word "birthday" was cut with a Tim Holtz/Sizzix die to which I added loose glitter.

Colored with ProMarkers plus a bit of sparkle gel ink around the diamond ring, then cut with rectangle dies from QuicKutz, as were the two frames.  Sentiment printed and hand-cut, then matted and hand cut again.  Aqua CS used for the card base.

Graduation Mouse

Here's the second graduation card I made, this one for my grandson who is an honors graduate and who will be entering his long-desired, culinary academy in the fall.  The card features this fun mouse from Bugaboo Stamps.  This is the image I printed an additional time in order to cut and paste the mortar board onto my granddaughter's grad card which you can find HERE.

Colored with ProMarkers, then cut with a stitched die from Memory Box, and inlaid into a scrap of stitched plaid dp which had been cut with that same die for a double stitched look.

The plaid paper is from a pad put out by Your Next Stamp.  The sheer ribbon is a scrap I didn't want to throw away.  The dry embossed piece was made using a scrap of CS.  I used up a lot of scraps with this card instead of wasting them.  :-D

Ever heard the expression "All dressed up and no place to go?"  Well, that's the problem for this Lothario from Dr. Digi which is the freebie image for the May Progressive Challenge at The Outlawz.

I colored with ProMarkers and then cut the image with a die from a Sue Wilson set.  The distressed background was done using an embossing folder from Couture Creations.  I printed, hand cut, and added the sentiment at the bottom.

Spring Fairy

It's taking me a long time to get each project finished but I think the shoulder is getting better on a very slow schedule.  How spoiled we are, expecting everything in life to be immediate.  :-D  Even spring has taken it's time in many regions but this little Conie Fong fairy is doing her best to banish the winter snows and bring on the spring butterflies.

I colored with ProMarkers, then cut the image with a die from Spellbinders.  I added sparkle to her
wings and the crystals have Glossy Accents on them.  Here's a close up photo for a better look.

The mesh ribbon is a scrap from my stash and the background piece was embossed with a folder from Couture Creations.  I printed and hand cut the sentiment, matting it with a scrap of CS, and added the tiny, hand tied, bow.

My daughter, two granddaughters, and I all enjoy puns and do our best to 'one up' each other whenever possible.  I made this 'punny' card for my granddaughters to give to their mom for Mother's Day.  It's my DT card for the new challenge at QKR Stampede this week.  The image is called "Corn digi24251."

I colored with ProMarkers, then cut both the image and the frame with dies from Spellbinders.   The background dp is from Your Next Stamp, and the shimmery, gold ribbon was a scrap in my stash from Crafty Ribbons.  The white bow is one of hand sewn bows.

It's Your Bird-day!

I'm still adding to my birthday card stash and today I'm using a cute birdhouse image from Beccy's Place.

I started by using the colors at Beccy's Place.

I used ProMarkers to color the image, then cut it with an oval die from QuicKutz.  The fancy frame (cut from aqua CS) was made with a Memory Box die and the image piece is laid on top of it.  The flowery paper (a saved scrap) is from DCWV and is embossed.   I added the sentiment, cut with another QuicKutz die, to the bottom.

Unicorn Graduate

Another short post due to shoulder problems which are interfering with both my crafting and my being able to sit at a keyboard to prepare posts

I have two grandkids who are each graduating from high school this year.  The older one is an honor student and has already been accepted into the culinary school he wanted, on a full scholarship I might add!

The other one is also an honor student and is graduating a year early, having done double classes all year in order to complete all her necessary units.  That was in addition to working a regular, part-time job and being on the cheer leading team at her high school.

This is her graduation card.  She's totally crazy about unicorns so I used this image from Bugaboo Stamps, added the grad cap by printing another image which had a cap (you'll see it when I finish the card for my grandson), then cutting it out and adding it to the unicorn.

Colored with ProMarkers and cut with QuicKutz dies.  I added micro-fine glitter from Sparkle n Sprinkle to the mane and tail.  The bow is one of my signature, hand-sewn bows, this time with a pearl.

Birthday Wishes

I know you've already seen my DT card for SheepSki Designs if you visited on Wednesday, but this morning I'm sharing a card with a stunning (and fun to color) image from SheepSki called "Peonies" because SheepSki is sponsoring the challenge over at Crafty Friends and I was lucky enough to be a Guest Designer.  :-D  The theme for the Crafty Friends challenge this fortnight is "Use 2 or more dies."

I pulled all my colors from the inspiration board

I colored the peonies with ProMarkers, then used a die from Sue Wilson to cut the image.  I trimmed one end of it so that there would be a straight side on the left.  I chose a golden yellow CS for the background and cut the butterflies into it with a Memory Box die.

I mounted that onto a kraft card base, then added the image and one of my signature, hand sewn, bows with a tiny pearl.  The bow was 'dyed' with a ProMarker to match the color of the sentiment.  The sentiment was cut with Tim Holtz word dies by Sizzix.

This is one of those fun cards where I get to combine ribbon (for the bow) and flowers (in the image) and still have a flat card for easy mailing.  If I have to choose between ribbons and flowers as embellies, I'll almost always go with ribbon because the bulk of flower embellies make cards difficult to mail.  When I do use dimensional flowers, I almost always am giving the card personally, not mailing it.

Make a Wish at the Wishing Well

It's Friday!  Hooray!  Of course, that means there's another weekly challenge starting over at QKR Stampede.  Our theme is always Anything Goes.

I'm using the "Wishing Well 5601" image for a birthday card which is in my stash now, ready for the next family birthday.  In my family, we have a lot of summer birthdays and I need to have my stash well stocked before then.

I colored with ProMarkers, cut the image with a stitched die from CUTplorations, and set it at an angle over two colored doilies which had been mounted onto the kraft card front.  I added a bowtie bow and called it finished.

Persian Cat Says He's the Birthday Present !

Here at Crafting with an Attitude we love seeing attitude in any form!  For our latest challenge, which starts today, we're being sponsored by Some Odd Girl and I fell in love with this "Angry Persian" image.  Look at the attitude showing in that expression!

I used ProMarkers to color the image, then cut it with a hexagonal die from QuicKutz.  The aqua frame is also cut with another die from that set.  I made a shaped card by cutting the base with another Quickutz die.

I printed and cut the small sentiment at the bottom of the image, trimming the shape to fit in with the hexagon.  The "happy birthday" sentiment was cut with a Tim Holtz - Sizzix die.  There was already so much going on with the borders of the card, I decided that it needed no embellishment beyond that created by the die cutting.

Gladioli for Mom

This is my second post of the day and I want to welcome you to our latest challenge at SheepSki Designs.  Our theme this month is "Flower Power" and Andrea has some of most incredible flower images, including this one "Gladioli No. 142."

I remember my mom grew glads in her garden and my favorites of all the colors she raised were a soft, peachy-pink that faded into almost white around the very edges of the petals.  I tried to re-create those when I colored this image with ProMarkers and water colors.  I cut the image with a rectangle die from QuicKutz and inked the edges with a ProMarker.

I printed the sentiment using a computer font, then cut that with an Unbranded die.  The circle was cut with a die from Memory Box.

Coffee Mouse

Happy May 1, what we used to call May Day when we secretly delivered little tussie-mussies to the neighbors.  Those of you not familiar with the term "tussie-mussie," they are little, cone-shaped, containers for holding a few flowers, and they come from Victorian times.  If you do a search online, I'm sure you'll find photos of them.

Since it's the first of the month, I'm posting my DT card for the new challenge at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies.  As usual, the theme is always "Anything Goes with a Featured Critter."  Our sponsor this month is Fabrika Fantasy and I used one of their delightful little mice.  The image is called "Forest Mouse" and I think he's so adorable!

Before printing the image, I used tools in MS Word to lighten the outlines as much as possible so that when I colored with ProMarkers, it would look more like a drawing than a stamped image.  I'm doing more of these because I need some practice but overall, I'm happy with the result.

I cut the image with a cross-stitch die from Lawn Fawn.  I dug through all the scraps, large and small, which were 'decorating' my desk and decided on these two plaid pieces.  Both are from a paper pad by Your Next Stamp called Mint Chocolate Kisses.

The raffia mesh ribbon was also on the desk and I thought it gave some great texture when added between the image and the background.  The card is going to go to one of the guys in my family so I left off embellishing it, letting the plaid patterns do all the work.  Even on non-masculine cards, I still prefer 'ribbon' to flower embellies because the cards are flatter and easier to mail.
