Paper Piecing in a Peaceful Garden

I'm just so tickled with the final result of this paper pieced card which I did for our latest challenge at I Love ProMarkers, and "Paper Piecing" is our optional theme for this challenge.  Our challenges are always "Anything Goes" but we also have an optional theme to go along with that.  We're sponsored by Digi Doodle Studios and they were so generous, supplying the DT with images to use.

I chose this one, called "Dahlia's Blooms," and it was fun to both color and paper piece.  I chose 2 pieces of dp from a Lawn Fawn stack before printing the image, then printed it 3 times; on both dp and on white CS.  I decided what parts of the image I wanted to paper piece and fussy cut those from the patterned papers.  I did the little bird on top of the birdhouse and her hat from the blue, and 3 of the flowers plus the butterfly from the coral pink patterned papers.  I used ProMarkers to color the rest of the flowers, her hair, face, and arm, and the ribbon tied around her hat.

At that point, I used a Sue Wilson die to cut the image and an Avery Elle die to cut the sentiment.  Both of those were mounted onto remaining scraps of the same dp (used to make the card front background.)  No further embellishment seemed necessary.  :-D

     Challenges:

I hope you found a bit of inspiration today and you really should check out what the rest of the team have created.  Come play in our challenge, with or without paper piecing!  :-D  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Birthday Roses

Hello and welcome to my latest DT post for I Love ProMarkers, where our latest challenge starts today.   We are sponsored this time by Ike's Art and our theme is Anything Goes + optional: use die cut or punch.  Ike's provided images for the team to use and I chose "Rose Corner" but I reversed the image top to bottom.

I decided on white roses (coloring done with ProMarkers, of course) and framed the image with a die cut (Frantic Stamper die.)  Other than the fancy frame, this is a really CAS birthday card.

     Challenges:

Come visit our challenge, see what everyone else on the DT has created, and find some inspiration to play along.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Water Lily Bowl

Another Wednesday and that means a new challenge at I Love ProMarkers.  Our theme this time is "Leaves or Flowers" and we are being sponsored by Colour of Love.  I used an image of theirs which is called "Water Lilies - Flower Pot Pretties."

I used my ProMarkers to color the image, then cut it with a QuicKutz die.  The edges were inked with an ink pad before layering it onto a scrap of butterfly dp.  I stamped the sentiment directly onto the image piece and added glitter to the wings of the fairy.  I added a mulberry paper flower and called it finished.   A bit more than CAS and a bit short of fancy.  :-D

     Challenges:
Butterfly (lettuce, lavender, light pink)

Come play in our challenge this time.  Dig out those spring time images with flowers and /or leaves and enter them for a chance to win images from Colour of Love!  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Day of the Monarch

Another new challenge is starting at I Love ProMarkers and this time our challenge theme is "No Patterned Papers."  Our challenge this fortnight is sponsored by Ching-chou Kuik and my image is called "Monarch Butterfly."  It's from the "Butterfly and Ladybug Set."

I colored the image with water colors and ProMarkers, then fussy cut it.  The sentiment was printed and cut with an Avery Elle die.  I mounted both the image and the sentiment onto a black card base, and left it alone for a very CAS design, this time with lots of 'black' space instead of white space.

     Challenges:

We'd love to see you enter our challenge.  Just don't use any dp this time.  :-D  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Birthday Card for His Valentine

Today starts our newest challenge at I Love ProMarkers and we're sponsored by SheepSki Designs this month.  Our theme this challenge is "Birthday" and my card was actually one commissioned by a gentleman whose wife’s birthday falls on Valentine’s Day!  I used a SheepSki Designs image called 'Bumble Bee Blossom' to go with the specific sentiment he wanted, ‘Honey Bee Mine.’   He really liked Andrea's images (which I have in a binder for people to view) and he was very impressed with her art.

I used ProMarkers, water color paints, and water color pencils to color the bee and blossom, adding sparkle gel ink to the wings, then used pale blue watercolor paint for the sky/background.  Instead of cutting the image itself, I used one of my dies from Spellbinders to cut a scrap of pink CS, then trimmed it to fit the card front so that the aperture was on an angle.

I printed and hand cut the sentiment, then tied gold satin ribbon into a small bow and added it to the upper corner.  I thought the die cut shape was so 'fancy' that little else was needed in the way of embellishment.  I really wanted the image to be the focus.

     Challenges:

I hope you're going to come and play in our challenge.  All of us can use an extra 'Birthday' card in our stash so even if you don't have someone specific in mind, I'm sure you can make one for your stash.  :-D  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Spring Flower Cart

It's time for the next challenge at I Love ProMarkers and our wonderful sponsor is Paper Nest Dolls.  Our theme is "Spring Time" and I used a darling Paper Next Dolls image called "Flower Cart Avery."

Colored with ProMarkers, and cut with a fancy Spellbinders die.  The pink CS mat is another Spellbinders die cut.  The sentiment was printed and cut with an Avery Elle die, then matted with a pink CS scrap.  The little bow was hand sewn and a sequin was added.  The tiny leaves came from the scrap basket and I simply can't remember what die I used.  I know it was a leftover from Christmas crafting.

I pulled my colors from the challenge at My Favorite Things.

     Challenges:
Double Trouble (image sized up)

We'd love to see you entering our challenge.  We love being inspired by you, maybe even more than you love seeing our inspiration creations.  :-D  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

One Hot Date - oh, yeah!

This fun and funny image, Valentine Derek, is from Dr. Digi, our sponsor this fortnight at I Love ProMarkers and our newest challenge starts today.  Our theme is "Flowers" and any beau who brings a bouquet like Derek's  (to say nothing of the chocolates!), deserves consideration for a date night.  :-D

I used my ProMarkers, of course, to color the image, then cut it and the frame using Tonic Studios dies.  The sentiment was printed and cut with an Avery Elle die.  I used my Linen embossing folder on the pink card front before adding a scrap piece of red lace which had been mounted onto black CS.

I used all the colors from My Favorite Things.

     Challenges:
Stamping Sensations
We Love Stamping

Come play with us this month.  Remember our theme is "Flowers" and we all know you have dozens of flowers (images or embellishments) in your collections so come on, get busy.  :-D  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Cat Smiles to Get Well

It's another new challenge at I Love ProMarkers, the first one of the new year.  Our theme this time is "Get Well" and we are sponsored by Ike's Art.  I adore this cat (my favorite kind of animal), called "Cat Smiles" and you can find it in the section under 'Animals' on her site.

I colored the image with my ProMarkers (of course), then cut the image with a long rectangle die from QuicKutz.  I rounded the corners with a punch from Uchida.  The pink frame and the plaid dp (Lawn Fawn) were cut with dies from Spellbinder.  The sentiment was also cut with a Spellbinders' die but trimmed along the bottom so that it wouldn't hang over the edge.  All the pink CS is from Park Lane.  The butterfly is made by sewing machine embroidery.

     Challenges:

Come play with us this fortnight.  We love being inspired by you every bit as much as we like to offer you some inspiration.  Happy Crafting  NanaConnie

'Tis the Season

Today we start a new challenge over at I Love ProMarkers and our sponsor is Colour of Love.  I'm getting on well with all my pre-scheduled December posts and I hope to be back into my normal routine for January posts.  This image is called "Rory - Tis the Season."

I used my ProMarkers to color sweet Rory, then cut the image with a Spellbinders die.  The green CS and the red dp (from Graphic 45) were both cut with dies from Die-namics, as was the sentiment.  The holly embellie was done by fussy cutting a scrap of dp which came from Beccy's Place.  The grosgrain bow was hand-tied.  I think hand-tied bows are my favorite embellishment for Christmas cards because they are quick, easy, and work well with nearly every card design.  This one just happened to use up the last scrap of that green, polka dot ribbon.

     Challenges:

This is our last challenge for the year and it's going to run an extra week until January 3, 2022.  We'll be back on January 5 with the first of our 2022 challenges.  In the meantime, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Cat and Mouse Christmas

Hey, it's time for a new challenge over at I Love ProMarkers!   The theme is pretty simple - "Christmas" - and our sponsor this time is the wonderful Ike's Art.   The image I used is called "Catmouse Tree."  I think it's exactly how my felines would decorate their Christmas tree if they had one, including the garland made of mice!  Instead my cats spend their time 'undecorating' my tree.  :-D

I colored with ProMarkers, then cut the image with a square, QuicKutz die.   It's not as large as it looks since the card is only 4" x 4" making the die about 3.25" x 3.25".  I inked the edges of the image with a ProMarker.   The background papers are from a Christmas Animals stack by Recollections.  I used a bit of fiber/twine to tie a simple bow.  The sentiment was printed, fussy cut, matted and fussy cut again.

     Challenges:

I hope we're going to see you playing along with us this challenge.  With all the Christmas cards being done, how can you not have something to enter?   It's almost like an anything goes theme.  :-D

     Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Candle & Poinsettias

The idea of candle light at Christmas is one of my favorite things and I love images which allow for coloring the candle glow.  This image is from SheepSki Designs, the sponsor for the newest challenge at I Love ProMarkers which starts right now.  The image is called "Candles and Poinsettias" and our theme for the challenge is "Anything Goes" with an Option of  "No Patterned Design Paper."

I colored with ProMarkers and gel pens, then cut the image with a Lawn Fawn stitched die.  The sentiment was cut with a die from QuicKutz.  I framed both the image and the sentiment with green glitter paper.  I used a stencil on the card front, brushing it with glue and using some very old flocking powder from my stash enhance the pink card front.  The sheer ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

     Challenges:

Come play in our challenge.  Grab your ProMarkers, FlexMarkers, AquaMarkers, or Trias, color an image, leave out the patterned dp, and come enter your project in our challenge.  You could win some really fab images from SheepSki Designs.  :-D  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Mad Turkey !

Remember "Mad Cow Disease" from a couple decades ago?  Well, this is a completely different version (no disease, only behavior) but it has to do with Mad Turkeys in the USA and only in November.  lol   This is my DT card for I Love ProMarkers with an image from our sponsor, Dr. Digi, which is called "Tough Turkey."  Our theme for this challenge is "Make it Funny."

Nobody is taking this turkey to the oven (or anywhere else for that matter!)

I used ProMarkers (naturally) to color the image, then cut it with a Dare 2B Artzy die.  The card front is dry embossed and the diamond pattern ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I added three, small black gems, then fussy cut a sentiment and added it.  Fairly CAS but the 'white' space is brown.  :-D

     Challenges:
Inspiration Station (determined animals!)

I do hope you're going to come and play in our challenge.  Just put together something fun and funny an enter it for a prize from Dr. Digi.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Christmouse Wishes

Today I'm sharing my DT card for I Love Promarkers, featuring an image from our sponsor, Hetty Clare, which is called "Christmouse Wishes."   Our theme for this challenge is "Dies or Masks" and now I have one more card for the Christmas stash!

I colored with my ProMarkers and used a QuicKutz die to cut the image.  The red circle behind the image was cut with a die from Dare 2B Artzy.  The image was layered onto a piece of dp from DCWV.  The background is a piece of Graphic 45 dp.

I found some lovely satin, snowflake, ribbon and used it for the strip across the card front and for the hand tied bow.  The single sparkly snowflake was cut from glitter paper with a Die-namics die.

My colors came from the CMH Color Dare
board #465, first column plus gold.

     Challenges:

It would be great to see you playing along in our challenge.  We do love being inspired by you and your creations.  So grab a die or a mask and make something wonderful to inspire us!
