Spring Flower Cart

It's time for the next challenge at I Love ProMarkers and our wonderful sponsor is Paper Nest Dolls.  Our theme is "Spring Time" and I used a darling Paper Next Dolls image called "Flower Cart Avery."

Colored with ProMarkers, and cut with a fancy Spellbinders die.  The pink CS mat is another Spellbinders die cut.  The sentiment was printed and cut with an Avery Elle die, then matted with a pink CS scrap.  The little bow was hand sewn and a sequin was added.  The tiny leaves came from the scrap basket and I simply can't remember what die I used.  I know it was a leftover from Christmas crafting.

I pulled my colors from the challenge at My Favorite Things.

We'd love to see you entering our challenge.  We love being inspired by you, maybe even more than you love seeing our inspiration creations.  :-D  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Dress Up Day

Sorry this post for the new Your Scrapbook Place challenge is late but there was a mix up as to whether I was sharing it for the start of the challenge month or as a mid-month reminder.  :-D  I'm posting it now and will do another card for the mid-month.

Our theme is always "Anything Goes" and our sponsor this month is Paper Nest Dolls.  They generously provided images to the DT and I'm using "Dress Up Avery."  I remember those long ago, childhood, days of playing dress up.  My Grammy had a fabulous attic with trunks of old clothing and the attic was given over to being a playroom for the grandkids.  The trunks were always available to us as long as we put things back in them when we were finished.

My blog is named for that wonderful space.  :-D

I colored with ProMarkers, then found the frame in a stack of scraps which I save just for things like this.  The frame is on top of the image and it's the leftover negative of a Dare 2B Artzy die cut.  I trimmed the image piece to fit it.  The background is ombre CS from a stack by Recollections.  The sentiment was printed and cut with an Avery Elle die, and the edges were inked.  I tied the bowtie bow using a scrap of lace and narrow satin ribbon for the wrap.

Magical Halloween

Our next challenge at Paper Funday starts today and our theme is "Halloween or Use Purple."  I love making Halloween cards and purple is my favorite color so I was in heaven with either option on this theme!  Our fun sponsor is Paper Nest Dolls and they generously provided the team with images to use for our inspiration cards.  I chose to use "Wizard Avery" and used standard Halloween colors of purple, green and black.

I used my ProMarkers to color the image, then added a bit of glitter to the light of her magic wand (difficult to see but if you enlarge the photo it might show) and Liquid Pearls (gold) to the teeny stars surrounding it.  The image was cut with an Unbranded die, then the sentiment was printed and cut with an Avery Elle die.  I used two different ribbons from my stash, (wide satin and shimmery 1/2") layered one on top of the other.  Everything went onto a black card front which helps the image to pop off the card front.

     Challenges:

I certainly hope we're going to see you playing along this month.  For those of you who don't do Halloween cards, just grab your purple markers, pencils, or  paper and ribbon, and show us what you  create.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

3 Days to Make a Card

It's been nearly 2 weeks since I posted that I was home from the hospital and I had no idea that my recovery was going to be so slow.  I figured that by now I'd be off the oxygen (NOT!), the daily nurse would have been sent packing (nope, but only coming twice a week now), and I'd be making at least one card every day (HA! Not.)

I didn't want to miss out on the Outlawz Progressive challenge which features this darling image from Paper Nest Dolls, called "Lulu Bee," so I sat down to color her (ProMarkers and sparkle gel pen) and discovered that I could only work on the image for about 15 to 20 minutes and then I had to lie down and rest.  I spent 2 days getting the coloring done, then started on the card layout.

I figured if I did a really CAS design, it would go quickly.  I picked two, different size, rectangle dies (QuicKutz) to cut the image and the black frame and, after that simple step, it was back to resting for an hour.  I cut the sentiment with a die from Avery Elle, layered it onto the image, then put the image and black frame together.  Another rest period.  Sheesh, was I ever going to get this card made?

The yellow CS for the base was on the craft desk and worked well with the image colors so I grabbed it, scored it to make it an A2 card base, then added the image piece.  I dug through the basket of signature bows I keep on hand, found a black one, and added it to the top corner.  By that time, daylight had fled so I waited until this morning to photograph the card, edit it, and have it ready for the post.

But writing up the post has taken two sessions with rest breaks in between and I still don't have the photo posted.  lol  OK, finally, here's that CAS card.

     Challenges:
Passion for Markers
Simon Says Stamp
Word Art Weds

Gathering all the links for the challenges took 3 sessions with 2 rest periods!  lol  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Cookies for Santa

I'm really into doing Christmas cards this week, inspired by all the "Christmas in July" challenge themes, so I found this darling little Mrs. Santa image from The Paper Nest Dolls and did a very quick and simple card.

I colored with my ProMarkers, then cut the image and the mats with dies from Spellbinders.   The plaid background is a scrap which has been in my stash of Christmas papers for more than 4 years.  I really do need to learn to throw away scraps now and then!  On the other hand, it's always nice to be able to use a scrap instead of having to cut into a new piece of dp.  :-D

The sentiment is heat embossed with white EP and the red bow is one of those I make by the dozens and toss into my stash for future use.

     Challenges:
Crafting from the Heart
Crafty Creations
Crafty Gals Corner
Creative Moments
Cutie Pie
Kraftin' Kimmie
Outlawz Greetings
Merry Monday Christmas
Pammie's Inky Pinkies

Two posts again today and I have 2 scheduled again for tomorrow and Saturday, maybe even Sunday depending on whether or not I get one more Progressive Challenge card done by then.  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie

Grandma's Cookies

This may not look like a typical Valentine card but I assure you, as a very knowledgeable Nana of 6 and Great-Nana to 2, that home baked cookies are the favorite Valentine treat of any grandchild and a huge number of "favorite grandma" points can be scored with a simple plate of them every February 14!  :-D

The image (from Paper Nest Dolls) is actually intended as a Christmas image, supposedly Mrs. Claus, but I modified it a bit by covering up a sprig of holly in the image and it worked perfectly for a child's Valentine.  Since it's a new image for me which I got just this month, I wanted to find a way to use it without having to wait for Christmas to roll around again.

I colored her face, hand, hair, and the plate of cookies with my ProMarkers, then paper pieced her dress, apron, shoes, and bonnet.   The holly sprig I mentioned was originally on her apron and it's covered with one of the paper-piecing bits.

I cut the image with a die from Spellbinders, then cut the card front with the same die and inlaid the image, backing the entire card front inside with darker pink CS.  Die cutting the card front and doing an inlay is a new technique for me and for my first time using it, I think it turned out pretty well.

I printed the sentiment, matted it with a scrap of the plaid dp and layered it on at the bottom of the card.  The pink bow was white but I 'dyed' it with a pink ProMarker to match the CS as best I could.  There's also embossing and piercing around the image.

     Challenges:
Aloha Friday
Brown Sugar
Colour Crazy Craft
C.R.A.F.T.
Creative Fingers
Cute Card Thurs
In the Pink
Outlawz Twisted Thurs
Polkadoodles

The more I look at this card, the more I love it and am impressed with the new die cutting technique.  I'm sure you'll see lots of it from me in the future.   Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie
