Day 19, Letter "Q"- Beccy's Place 30 Days of Christmas

Wow, this month is really rocketing by!  Here we are on Day 19 of the 30 Days of Christmas at Beccy's Place and our letter prompt is "Q."   Not an easy one; I pretty much feel limited to quilting or quilling and since it's been years since I did any quilling, I turned to Quilted.  I used Beccy's (free) Three French Hens image from her 12 Days of Christmas set, along with one of my Quilting dies.

My card design was inspired by the sketch at Tuesday Morning
but I stretched it to allow for a horizontal design.

Life is a Garden

This beautiful girl surrounded by zinnias is from Ching-Chou Kuik and I've returned to one of my more usual color combos, something with purple, blue, or pink.  However, still in the interest of branching out and trying new things, I added yellow to the pink, a color I rarely use except for fall themed cards.

Although I took a bit of a liberty with it, my card was
inspired by the 'quilted' background in the sketch at

Christmas Quilt

I'm following the letter prompt of "Q" at Beccy's Place for the 30 Days of Holidays but I keep forgetting which letter it is because I have as many "P"s as "Q"s in today's post; maybe even more.  :-D  But I did "P" yesterday so this is all about the Christmas Pudding Quilt.

I colored the Quilt image with my ProMarkers (my favorite method of coloring) and then replaced the center square with my wish for Peace on Earth - a sentiment which is also from Beccy's Place.  I spent a bit of time sizing it to fit and still had to trim the edges in thin slices but it did fit eventually.

I used two of my Quilting dies - one from Gina Marie and one from Sizzix - to cut the dp and the glittered paper.  I made that glittered paper by adding loose glitter to sticker paper, burnishing it in, and then cutting it with the die.  I have to give my friend, Donna, credit for jogging my memory and inspiring me to use that technique again.  Here's her post about glittering sticker paper, but I didn't do anything nearly as complex as she did.  I just peeled off one side of the sticker paper (trimmed to the size I needed for the die), added glitter to the entire thing, then cut it with the quilt die.  It made the glittery pieces easy to apply since they already had adhesive on the backs.

I put the Quilted papers together like a puzzle, then placed them into position on the card front.  The Christmas Pudding Quilt image went on top.  I embellished the corners with two of my signature bows which had been dyed with a Pine ProMarker.

Loving Bunnies

One more card which I'm using as a Valentine but which has great general appeal as well.  This is the image for the Progressive Challenge at Gerda Steiner Designs.

I used the sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2,
flipping it top to bottom.

I started by coloring the bunnies with ProMarkers, then I fussy cut them and added a hot pink CS mat which is also fussy cut.  I used my newest Gina Marie quilt die to cut 4 different paper scraps and mounted the image (using Pop Dots) on top of the quilt design.

I chose a soft pink CS for the background, cut it to size for the A2 card, and wrapped sheer, golden ribbon around it before adding the quilted design with image.  I printed and hand cut the sentiment, then tied a bow from some pink lace. adding it above the sheer ribbon.

All Tucked in for the Night

It's Friday again and we have a new, weekly, challenge starting at QKR Stampede.  As usual, we have our "Anything Goes" theme but we also have our optional twist - the theme of "Quilting or Stitching."  I did my best to accomplish both on this one card.  I used the QKR image "All Tucked In" and I think it's totally adorable!

I colored the image with my ProMarkers, then cut it with a die from an unbranded die maker.  The polka dot frame for the image is also cut with another die from that same set.  I cut the denim and yellow papers for background "quilt" with a chain stitched die from Gina Marie Dies.  The sentiment is printed and matted with blue and yellow layers.

I decided not to add any embellishments because I wanted the quilt background to showcase the image.  I felt that anything added on top of it would take away from that effect.

     Challenges:

Classic DT Open
Colour Crazy
Crafty Awesomeness
Crafty Hazelnut's Patterned Paper

I hope we're going to see you playing in our challenge this week.  Remember, while we'd love to see you using a QKR Stampede image (and you'll be in a separate draw just for QKR users), you can use any image from any company to enter our challenge.  See you over there.  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie

Overdose

OK, so I wasn't going to have another post for today but I saw this image lying on my desk and had a sudden idea of how to use it.  All that time last month when I was without a computer, or rather between computers, I spent some time with my rubber stamps (the ones which have been languishing in the storage drawers) and got into stamping and coloring them since I couldn't access any of the digis stored on flash drives.  I didn't necessarily know how or where I was going to use the colored images but doing them kept me sane when I had couldn't play online.

Today, I made a Get Well card from one of those images I had colored, a cute House Mouse stamp.  I know this wasn't intended for a "Get Well" sentiment but I think it works.  I've seen my grandson look a bit like this when he hasn't tracked his carb count properly.  :-D

I hope my friend Lynn, Creative Crafts by Lynn, has a chance to see this.  I know she's going to love it since blue is her favorite color and she loves CAS designs and cute images.   Are you smiling yet, Lynn?  :-D

I knew I wanted to do a patchwork design of
polka dots and checks and went looking for a sketch to use.
I found this one at Sketch Saturday,
and I turned it sideways.

I used ProMarkers on the image and the papers are old.  I think they're from DCWV's "Basics" stack.   I added the stitching using gel pens.  Everything was cut by hand.  The bow is one of those I've had in my stash from the last time I made a batch of two dozen.  This one may even have been in the stash from the batch before the last one but in any case, it's been a good 6 months.  :-D
