Holiday Chaos - Day 4

It's time for the next Holiday Chaos theme at Catch the Bug and it's Ugly Sweater day with three possible recipes for making your card.  I went really literal on the "Ugly Sweater" theme as well as using one of the recipes.  I used Glitter/ 3 buttons/ & ribbon.  The mouse image is from Bugaboo Stamps.

I started with the sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday.

I colored the image with ProMarkers, but paper pieced the ugly sweater and her hair bow.  I added tiny dots of glitter to the sweater.  The image was cut with a QuicKutz die, as was the rectangle of dp.  I cut the sentiment with a die from Die-Versions.  The ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons and the three, tiny buttons were in my stash.

Birthday Cupcakes

I love cupcakes as birthday cakes!  It saves having to cut a large cake, makes decorating so much easier, and eliminates all the fights between kids (and adults?) over who gets the frosting flower.  lol

This cupcake is the image from Limited Runs for their Progressive Challenge this month.

I used the sketch at Try Stampin' on Tuesday.

I used ProMarkers to color the cupcake, then cut it with a die from Spellbinders.  The background started as a left over scrap of pink CS which was cut with my Lattice die (Spellbinders.)  The five narrow strips of dp are also scraps.

The sentiment was printed, hand cut, and inked on the edges.   I found two scraps of pink ribbon in my stash basket, used one to wrap around the card front and the other one to tie a bow.  I really hope I can get more of that ribbon because I really like the way it looks and it was a dream working with it.

Thinking of You

I think this is my first, or maybe second, time using an image from All Dressed Up and I think she's just as cute as a bug!

I started with the sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday
even though I missed the deadline for their challenge.

I used ProMarkers to color the image and cut it with a die from QuicKutz.  The small, red, hexagon was also cut with another die from that same set.  The card front is dry embossed.  The bits of dp are from my scrap basket.  I love the CAS design allowed by that sketch.

I hope your week is going well and that you're finding some time to relax in the heat of summer.  My home town is in the midst of a heat wave defined as 3 or more days of temperatures over 100 F.  Not my favorite kind of weather.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

A Tulip Thank You

I was in need of a quick "Thank You" card and this cute image from Bugaboo Stamps was perfect.  While I was planning it, I looked at the challenge theme from Catch the Bug and it was a recipe challenge: 1 button, 2 images, & 3 layers.

I was inspired by the sketch at Try Stampin' on Tuesday
but I flipped it so that I could use it horizontally.

When I printed the image, I did it twice on leftover bits of white CS, reversing one of the images as I did it.  The sentiment is part of the image but I cut it off the reversed image so that it was only on the other side.  I colored with ProMarkers and cut one of the images with a simple rectangle die from Spellbinders.  I hand cut the other image so that I could merge it with the other image.

A tiny bit of the cut off sentiment still showed so I decided that was where I'd put the button.  I search my collection of buttons, looking for a large one.  I laced it with a scrap of jute cord and tied that into a bow.  In my stash, I found the pink and tan, plaid paper and, even though it was only a scrap piece, I knew it would be perfect for the first background layer.  To make the second background layer, I mounted the plaid scrap onto ruby pink CS, and that gave me the 3 layers!  Voila' - fast and easy.

In Your Cups

I've been working very hard at getting something done for the Coffee Lover's Blog Hop but each time, this was the kind of thing I found!  Obviously, I share my home with (two) too many felines.  :-D

I based this card on the sketch at Try Stampin' on Tuesday
but I did take a couple of small liberties.

The image came from Sami Stamps but the silly sentiment is my own.  I colored that image with my ProMarkers, then die cut it with a Stitched Rectangle die from Die-namics.  I cut another, larger piece for the mat.  All the polka dot papers were leftovers found in my stash and I tied the striped bow with a snippet of ribbon.

I decided to keep it relatively CAS so it could be used for a masculine card.

     Challenges:
Crafting from the Heart
Craft Your Passion
Crafty Boots
Crafty Sentiments Designs
Di's Digi Designs
Lemon Shortbread
Passion for ProMarkers
SUYP Cats

That's all I have for today. Thanks for visiting.  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie
