"E" is for Elf (and a few other things!)

OK, another completely out-of-alphabetical-order card done for the 30 Days of Holidays at Beccy's Place.  I did this one for the letter "E" and it includes:  Elf, Eisa (name of this elf), Twisted Easel card, Embossing, & Embellishments.

The Eisa image was reversed before printing and then colored with ProMarkers and gel pens.  I cut the image with an oval die from QuicKutz.  I used a 'star' embossing folder on another oval, larger than the image but cut with another QuicKutz die.  I inked the edges of each oval before putting them together.

I chose to make the easel part of this card on the 'wrong' side but it was done deliberately.  I'm sending this card to my DIL and I tease her because she's left-handed so this card opens from the left instead of the traditional right side.  :-D

After scoring the easel fold, I added scraps of ribbon, then layered on the matted image piece.  I cut the sentiment, added two more layers to it, and used it and one snowflake embellishment as the 'stop' for the easel.  The bow was tied by hand and I added the other two snowflake embellies to the card front.

Day 5, Letter "E" - 30 Days of Christmas at Beccy's Place

It's the next day in the alphabet prompts at Beccy's Place 30 Days of Christmas and that means we're going to be doing Elves, Embossing, Embossing folders, Easel cards, Evergreens, Ecru, Ebony, and Embellishments.  Whew, that may be my longest list of the entire 30 days!

I used another of Beccy's images from her (now retired) 12 Days of Christmas set, this time using the piper from 11 Pipers Piping and turning him into an Elf.  I think it was the Elf boots and Santa hat that made me see him as an Elf.   My card is actually a twisted Easel card.

Celebrating Love

I'm back on track but will be posting only sporadically this month and maybe the first half of next month since my craft room supplies are going to be pretty much packed up during that time.  :-(  In the interests of plain and simple sanity, I'll probably keep a few ProMarkers and a box of watercolor pencils close at hand so that I can do coloring if nothing else.  Sitting and coloring a dozen images over a weekend will go a long way toward making me feel both calm and creative.  :-D

In the meantime, here's my card for the Progressive Challenge at The Outlawz this month.  The image came from SheepSki Designs.

I started with scraps of confetti CS, printed the image on one, and trimmed the other piece to the size of the card front so that I could do a twisted easel card.  I colored with ProMarkers and cut the image with a square die from QuicKutz.  I inked the edges of both the image and the confetti CS square for the card front.

The scattered hearts were all cut with dies from Spellbinders, Memory Box, or Lawn Fawn, all of which are brand new in my stash!  How perfect to now have them for this card.  :-D  I used them to complement the scattered hearts in the image.  The sentiment, together with one heart, is used as the 'stopper' for the easel.  The card base is made with kraft CS and I love the contrast with the confetti CS.

E for Easel Card at Beccy's Place

It's time for the next alphabet prompt at Beccy's Place in the 30 Days of Holiday cards and today is the letter "E".  I decided it would be a perfect time to make an Easel card and to also do some Embossing.

I love this particular snowman from Beccy's Place and I think I've used him on a Christmas card each year since I first got him.

I colored with ProMarkers and chalks, then cut the image with a fancy oval die from Spellbinders.  The sentiment piece is also from Beccy's and I cut it with the smallest die from that same Spellbinders set.  I decided that by folding up the top part of the sentiment, I could use it as the Easel stop.

I used one of my snow swirl Embossing folders to emboss both the front and back flaps of the card.  I turned down one corner of the top flap, making this card a twisted Easel, added the image piece, and left it plain with no ribbon, no bows, no flowers - I wanted the Embossing to showcase the image and the image to be the focal point.
