A Favorite Elf

I've gotten back to doing easel cards the last month or so and I'd forgotten how many different styles of easels there are.  I think this tent-style, A2 easel was the first I ever tried.  Then I got hooked on twisted easels and did many of those.  Eventually, I did a horizontal A2 easel and that has a very different look, more like a step card but without the steps.  :-D  So, I've come full circle and am back to a tent-style A2 easel.

The image is from the progressive challenge at Stamper's Delights.  Colored with ProMarkers and gel pens, then cut with a die from Cuts.  The frame was also cut from a scrap of Recollections dp with a die from that same Cuts set.  Sentiment printed and cut with a smaller Cuts die.  I actually cut 3 layers of CS for the sentiment to make it thick enough to act as the 'stopper' for the easel.  I inked the edges with a ProMarker.  I kept the design very CAS because I'm going to use this as a masculine card.

Walking the Pug

My "third" granddaughter, more or less adopted by the entire family when she became a room mate to my eldest granddaughter, has the cutest "ugly" pug dog in the whole world, named Eva.  When I ran across this image at Wink Wink Ink (I was lucky enough to win a challenge they sponsored), I grabbed it immediately and here's what I did with it.

I had just finished my first "Hat" easel card (see this post) and I guess my mind was still on doing easels because before I realized it, I was doing a second easel card this morning.

Colored w pencils and ProMarkers
Image is fussy cut w scissors
Brown doily cut w QuicKutz die
Circle cut w QuicKutz die
Image mounted on dimensional dots
Paper from Recollections stack
Sentiment mounted on dimensional dots

New Spring Hat

I saw the tutorial for this "Hat" easel card over at Beccy's Place.  It was so intriguing I just had to try it.  This is my first attempt.  There are parts of it which are a bit 'fiddly' but with practice, I know I can get better at making them and I'm more than pleased with this one for a first try.  :-D

This was made entirely from scraps of dp and I'm pretty sure they were from a DCWV stack.  I didn't have enough of the darker scrap to do the entire hat so I used a lighter dp for the crown of the hat.  Even the ribbon was a scrap piece.

Papers = scraps from DCWV
Cut with QuicKutz dies
Card base and CS circles cut w QuicKutz dies
Paper flowers from Recollections
Ribbon scrap from RRR
Sentiment frame cut w Avery Elle die

     Challenges:

You really should go check out the tutorial at Beccy's Place (linked up above) and try this fun version of an easel card.  They really are spectacular!  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Thankful for Your Friendship

I wanted to do another autumn card for the midway reminder of our monthly challenge at Jan's Digi Stamps.  This image is a secondary image from the Autumn Friends set and the sentiment is from that same set.  The basket of leaves is merged with the rake and sentiment.  They are three separate items within the set.

I made this a lengthwise, easel card, and the inside sentiment is the 'stopper' and I think  it's a perfect way to tell a friend how thankful I am for their friendship.  :-D

Colored w ProMarkers
Chalks used to 'sponge' the borders
Card front is embossed with leaf EF

Day 7, Letter "F"- 30 Days of Christmas at Beccy's Place

I have another easel card today, even though we are doing the letter "F" at Beccy's Place, not "E."  This time it's a plain easel, not a twisted easel.  However, I think an easel counts as a Fancy Fold and that's a good start to my list of "F"s.  I  have also Featured a Feathered Family, two of whom are Fixed (or are they Frozen?) on the Frosted ground and one of whom Flew up into the tree. I used a Festive theme, and added Feliz Navidad as the sentiment.

Pre-colored image but I used ProMarkers on the scarf and shoes
Hand tied, polka dot bow
Snowflake stickers inside with gems
CAS design

Beating the Christmas Rush?

This card is one of those that just worked exactly the way I had it visualized in my head.  That doesn't happen all that often, I'm afraid.  Anyway, that means I'm inordinately pleased with it.  :-D

The digi is "Turtle Santa" from QKR Stampede, where their theme is 'It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas', and the sketch I used is from Seems a Little Sketchy.

I chose to use the Play Date Cafe challenge of "Black and white with a splash of maroon."  He's colored with maroon gel pen, which is hard to 'shade', but since I had one pen about to run out of ink, I managed to get some light maroon on one side of the bag and hat.   DP is from DCWV's Le Creme stack, and both the dp and the maroon CS I used for matting were pieces left over from other projects.  The flower was the last one I had of that color and it's been hiding in my stash for who-knows-how-long.   I'm still on a campaign to use up leftovers and bits.  You know the ones -- too big to throw out but too small for most projects.  :-D

The tulle is from SU and I folded it to get a double layer for a bit more color.   I made it into an easel card, something I haven't done for a while, but I have a granddaughter who just thinks they are the 'kewl'est thing ever, so...

     Challenges:

Catch the Bug -- Anything goes
City Crafter -- Christmas Easel card
Creative Stamp Friends -- Christmas
Cupcake Craft -- Black & white + one color
Eureka Stamps -- Holiday fun

Shopping Our Stash -- Odds and ends

I hope your weekend has been going well.  We've had rain, and wind, and a bit more rain so it's a good crafting weekend.  I'm all caught up on my DT cards for next week but I have a couple more 'just for fun' projects I want to finish.   Maybe I'll be able to share them with you later in the week.  In the meantime, Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie
