Emily & Her Penguin

I've done so much Halloween and autumn/fall this month that I decided it was time for a bit of Christmas.  I chose this Conie Fong image called "Emily and Penguin - Braids" (she also comes with curly hair instead of braids in the same set of images.)  The sentiment is also Conie Fong.

There's still time to enter the August/September challenge but time is running out quickly.  You really should check out the Conie Fong FB page because, in addition to the challenge, you'll find an adorable freebie!  AND all her images are on sale in September so check out the store, too.

I used water colors on the image, then cut it with a die from Tattered Lace.  The shaped card was cut with another Tattered Lace die and the front is embossed with snowflakes.  The gingham bow was hand-tied and added to the card front.  Pretty CAS for a Christmas card.

     Challenges:

That's all I have for today but check back tomorrow - I think I'll have another card finished by then.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Cyrano de "Rhino"rac

It's the 1st of another month and that means I'll have 2 posts today; one for the challenge at QKR Stampede and another for Your Scrapbook Place.  I also posted my GDT card for Ike's World late last night because their challenge goes live on the First Tuesday of the month but that's Monday night in my time zone.

This post features my DT card for QKR Stampede and both the image and the sentiment bring to mind the recent movie about Cyrano de Bergerac, only this fun image from QKR is Baby Rhino with an enormous horn on his nose!

I colored with my ProMarkers, then used a die from Tattered Lace to cut the image.  The papers are from a Recollections stack.  I printed, then cut the sentiment using a QuicKutz die.  I added three tiny brads to one lower corner and called it finished.

Based on the sketch at Tuesday Morning
adjusted for a square card with the background flipped.

     Challenges:

Come play with us this fortnight.  We always have an Anything Goes theme.  Remember, you can use any stamps/images from any company but if you choose to use something from QKR Stampede, or even our sister company Eureka Stamps, your entry will be put into a separate draw only for those who used QKR/Eureka, and that increases your chance of winning by a huge amount!  Come play.  :-D

"R" for Rocker Card

OK, I'm now up to the letter "R" in my cards for the 30 Days of Holidays at Beccy's Place and it stands for Red and Rocker card.  I'm going to pretend that the birds are Robins (both are images from Beccy's and I merged them) and I used wide Ribbon to make the bow.

The rocker shape was cut with a die from Tattered Lace, as was the image itself.  The red snowflake dp is from Recollections.

Cornucopia

I'm really thrilled with this new release from Jan's Digi Stamps called "Fall Cornucopia."  It comes with lovely sentiments and I included one here by merging the image and sentiment before printing.

On this image, I started with one of the pre-colored images but I adjusted it to grayscale before I printed it.  Starting with Jan's pre-colored images in grayscale instead of just printing the B&W line drawing means that all of Jan's lovely shading and highlights are still there so that adding your own colors over them makes you look like a superb artist.  :-D  Thank you, Jan!

I used ProMarkers and gel pens to color the grayscale image, then cut it with a Tattered Lace die.  I layered that onto the front of a circle card, also cut with a die from Tattered Lace, on top of the wrapped sheer ribbon.   The triple-loop, satin bow was tied using my bow maker and that bow is the only embellishment.

I used colors taken from the 3rd Column of
the TicTacToe board at Color Dare, plus gold.

     Challenges:
Double Trouble  (all 3)

The challenges at Jan's Digi Stamps are still on a break but will be returning on the first Monday in November so not long to wait now - just a bit over a month.  Since our challenges run throughout the entire month, you'll hardly notice how quickly the time flies by.  In the meantime, Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

A Pretty Calf for a Lovely Thank You

I noticed the other day that my stash of  Thank You cards was getting pretty low and, just in time, this DOTM showed up from Imagine That!  Along with the sweet calf image, there are sentiments and one of them was perfect for adding to my stash of Thank You cards.  :-D

I colored with ProMarkers and gel pens, then cut the image with a die from Tattered Lace.  The die is actually made for cutting a shaped card so it has a blank space at the top without any cutting, but after cutting once, I turned the piece in the die and cut a second time so that I had a complete circle.

The sentiment is cut with an Unbranded die and the bottom corner of the flocked paper was cut with a Poppy Stamps die.   The corner die also embosses but that doesn't show up very well on the flocked paper.   I used a craft knife to distress the edges of the flocked paper but it's very heavy paper and the distressing doesn't show up very well in the photo.  I didn't want to cover any more of that gorgeous Doodlebug paper so I let the design and the die cuts be their own embellishment.

Hope your week is going well and that you can find some 'down time' just for you.  :-D  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Harvest Days

A friend and I were crafting together yesterday and I used one of her fall stamps.  It turns out she bought it from Victorine Originals and she had a link to their website.  Can you believe I've never heard of them before and they even have a challenge!   This time they have a beautiful inspiration photo and that's the reason I chose this particular image to stamp and use on my card.  Let me show both of them to you and you can tell me what you think.

I also used the sketch from Die Cuttin' Divas.

I used Copics and colored pencils to color it, then die cut both the image and the frame using dies from Tattered Lace.  All the papers are from SU and the little Bird on a Branch was cut with a Cottage Cutz die.

     Challenges:
Angie's Digital Stamps
Color Inspiration Monday
Crafting by Designs
Cuttlebug Mania
Glitter n Sparkle
Lil Patch of Crafty Friends
Mod Squad
Stamping Sensations
TTCRD

I hope those of you in the US are enjoying your Columbus Day holiday and that you'll find time to relax and enjoy the extra 'weekend' day.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Spooky Owl

I've spent most of my crafting time this weekend doing cards for progressive challenges but this one is for the blog challenge at Sasayaki Glitter rather than the progressive challenge on their FB page.

I love this adorable owl but am not sure he's really very spooky.  As long as he thinks he's spooking the world, I guess that's what matters.  :-D

He's been printed directly onto the card front and then colored with ProMarkers.  I made a shaped card with one of my newest Tattered Lace die sets.  It has multiple dies, all for making shaped cards, and all of them round with various lacy edges.  This is the largest one of the set and the first one I've used.  I colored the scallops with a Bright Orange ProMarker.  This is a one layer card and totally without any embellishment other than the scalloped edge.  Talk about CAS !

     Challenges:
A Bit More Time to Craft
A Perfect Time to Craft
Card Mania
Crafts Galore Encore
Crea Chicky's
Delicious Doodles
Die Cut Divas
Do Al(l) Kreatives
House of Cards

An extra day off is coming up tomorrow as Americans celebrate Columbus Day; a strange holiday when you realize the amount of evidence that he was anything but the first European to set foot on the North American continent.  But, I'll take any excuse to have another day to stay home and craft.  :-D  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie
