Thankful Thoughts - Next MHK Design Release

Day Three in the August release from MHK Designs and Mynn has given us a fantastic set perfect for Thanksgiving or any other "thank"ful occasion, including sentiments for simple Thank You cards.  We all know we're going to need those over the holidays.  :-D  You can see a photo of the complete set at the bottom of this post.  Here's my card using an image and a sentiment from the "Thankful Thoughts" set.

I colored the cornucopia with a combination of ProMarkers and Copics, then die cut it with an oval die from QuicKutz.  I used oval dies from that same set to cut the mat, the sentiment and the mats for it.  I found a die that's been in  my collection for a while but which I'd never used and decided this was the perfect card design for it.  The leaf die is made by Die-namics.  I used it to cut two different colors of CS and then offset them.

Both the ribbon and the dp are scraps from my stash.

I haven't used the turkey image yet, but I already have plans for it bouncing around in my head.  At the moment, I think it would make a fabulous sepia tone, vintage card for Thanksgiving.  Don't you agree?  Maybe I'll do that card for one of my Designer Inspiration posts on the main MHK Designs blog.  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie

Please continue to leave comments.  The "Word Verification" really isn't on.  BLOGGER INSISTS ON SHOWING THE "CAPTCHA" ICON BUT IF YOU IGNORE IT AND JUST PUBLISH YOUR COMMENT, IT WILL POST JUST FINE.  I WISH I COULD GET RID OF IT BUT THERE'S NO OPTION FOR THAT WHEN THE COMMENTS ARE WRITTEN IN A SEPARATE BOX. SORRY.

Cornucopia and Turkey

I'm almost done with my Thanksgiving cards but I don't have all the posts scheduled yet so you'll be seeing them throughout the next couple of weeks.   This one I did using one of my favorite cornucopia images which comes from Doodle Pantry.  I love that it's combined with a turkey.

I based this on the sketch from Try Stamping on Tuesday
but flipped and the horizontal strip (I used ribbon) is higher.
I also used scallops instead of flags.

This is a pre-colored image which I die cut using two different curved border dies from Spellbinders.  I layered it onto some orange CS which had been run through my Linen embossing folder.  I rounded the corners with a hand punch.

The leaf embellies were also done with a hand punch.  The ribbon is glittered and has been in my autumn stash for who-knows-how-long?  The striped background is actually fabric.  I used iron-on interfacing on the back to make it more stable. The sentiment is also from Doodle Pantry, hand cut and matted with dp from DCWV.

Cornucopia

If you're looking for my QKR Stampede DT card, please scroll down or click here.

When did the cornucopia become the traditional symbol of the harvest season?  I don't know the answer but I know it's universally recognized so this stamp from "From the Heart", given for their Progressive Challenge, is perfect this time of year.

I did use the colors from the challenge at Sketchy Colors.

Fast description here:  colored with ProMarkers, die cut with a die from Spellbinders, dp from DCWV and that set of papers has been in my 'fall' stash for more than 3 years!  Ribbons also from my stash and they were scraps about to be thrown out but worked perfectly for this card design.

     Challenges:

Have a great weekend and find some time for creativity and rest.  Your soul needs it.  :-D  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie
