Forest Friends

Today we start a new challenge at Colour Crazy and our wonderful sponsor is Polkadoodles.  They were generous and supplied images for the DT to use.  Mine is called "Forest Friends" and I think it's one of the most delightful images I've seen this season.  It features an adorable woodland fairy with two of her little forest friends; a deer and and a bunny.  I think deer are my favorite Christmas animals but that's probably because of the association with Santa's reindeer, which are favorites of all children because they deliver Santa and the presents!

I colored the image with ProMarkers, and added "Frosted Lace" Stickles to the furry pieces of her dress and scarf.  I used loose glitter on her halo and added touches of white gel ink to the snow on the tree.  I used gold paint pen on her little wings.

The frame for the image and the large snowflake were cut with dies from Spellbinders.  The sentiment pieces were cut with a Die-Versions die.  I used that deep, burgundy red for all the die cuts because it's my favorite when combined with traditional Christmas greens.

Warm Wishes

There's a new challenge today at Colour Crazy and we're sponsored by Scrap n Dipity.  I used this lovely image called The Scarf, a very fitting image for those chilly fall or winter days.

I decided on monochromatic autumn colors covering the range from the palest of yellow-oranges to those on the rust and burnt orange end, emphasized with neutrals of white and pale brown.  I think monochrome coloring can really focus the eye on the image and I often prefer it to coloring with many colors.  I colored with ProMarkers and used white gel inks to add a few highlights.

The image is cut with a simple, rectangle, die from Spellbinders and the leaves are cut from some fall dp with the very first Cheery Lynn die I ever bought.  The sentiment is printed, then cut with a die from QuicKutz.

The card base is made from confetti CS and I layered on the image and the leaves, then left it with lots of white space for a CAS design.

     Challenges:

Come play with us this week!  We'd love to see what you make and submit.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Toadstool Halloween

This is my first post for today and I'll have a second one in a few hours.  Be sure to check them both.

I'm excited to be back for another three month term as a Guest Designer at Colour Crazy.  This week our sponsor is Ching-Chou Kuik and our theme is always Anything Goes.  I've used a magnificent Toadstool Fairy image to make a too-cute-to-spook, Halloween card.

I've heard that on Halloween, woodland fairies costume themselves as toadstools to fool the witches and goblins, and to keep themselves safe.  I think this image is proof the old wives' tale is true!

I colored with ProMarkers and used a die from Tonic Studio to cut the image.  The cross-stitched rectangle was cut with a die from Lawn Fawn and the rectangle behind it was cut with another Tonic Studio die.  I cut the butterfly and the dragonfly with a die from Cottage Cutz.

The polka dot ribbon was in my stash and seemed to work well with the Halloween colors mix.  I added tiny, metal brads to the bodies of the bugs, then printed, hand cut, and matted the sentiment.

Bloomin' Boots

This is my last GDT card for Colour Crazy but I've been invited to join the team next fall.  :-D  The theme is always "Anything Goes" and we do require hand coloring on your projects.  My card today uses an image from Conie Fong called "Bootiful Bouquet."

I colored with ProMarkers and gel inks, then cut the image with an Unbranded die from Cheapo Dies.   I framed the die cut with pearls and added one of my signature, hand-sewn bows.

I printed the sentiment, cut it by hand, and added it below the boots.  I really love that image!  This is the first time I've used it but definitely not the last.

Compliments to the Chef

Once again, I'm doing a GDT card for the newest challenge at Colour Crazy and our sponsor this fortnight is The Paper Shelter.   The image is called "Great Baker," although I'm treating her as a chef, and I'm using this card as a thank you for the hostess of a dinner party.  I think it's perfect!

I colored the image with ProMarkers, then cut it with a CUTplorations stitched die.  The brown CS is cut with a Memory Box die, dry embossed with my 'Linen' folder, and backed with beige paper.  I added the golden ribbon and tied a simple bow.  The sentiment was printed, hand cut, and inked on the edges.

     Challenges:
Crafty Friends (baker, blond, bow)
Crafty Gals Corner
Elliebelle's Crafty Weds.
House that Stamps Built
I {heart} ProMarkers

I hope we'll see you playing along in this challenge.  Remember, our challenges overlap so we always have two "Anything Goes" challenges running at the same time.  A new one starts every week but each one runs for two weeks.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Bookworm Fairy

I'm so excited to share with you today as this is my first card done as a Guest Designer on the Colour Crazy Challenge.  Ching-Chou Kuik has graciously agreed to be our sponsor and has given us the images we used.  I chose Little Bookworm Fairy.  I've been a fan of Ching-Chou Kuik for a few years now and I do love coloring her images.

I was inspired by the colors at Sugar Pea Designs.

I used ProMarkers to color the image, adding purple Nuvo Crystal Drops to the flowers in her hair.  Sorry but I forgot to keep track of the exact colors but next time, I promise to have a list for you.  I also added glitter to her wings before cutting the image and its frame with dies from Sizzix.

I made a shaped card using a manual die from Tattered Lace.  The glittered "ribbon" is actually washi tape.  I tied a bow with sheer burgundy ribbon and added the white rose on top of it.  The sentiment was printed, hand cut, and added.

     Challenges:

I'm really happy to be working with the Colour Crazy team as a guest designer for the next three months and look forward to sharing with you my creations.  Remember our theme is always "Anything Goes" and, even though we have a new challenge starting every week, each one runs for two weeks so they overlap each other by a week each time.  :-D  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie
