Peony Valentine

These peonies are from Beccy's Place and I think they made a perfect Valentine card, even though roses seem to be the favorite for a Valentine.  :-D   Colored with my ProMarkers, cut with a QuicKutz rectangle die, and the corners were done with a Fiskars punch.  The pink background dp is from a stack by C .C. Designs.  I used sheer ribbon and my bowmaker for the quad-loop bow.  The sentiment was printed and then cut with an Avery Elle die.

Tie the Bow

This card is for the 30 Days of Holidays at Beccy's Place and it features things with the letter "T" - Tent card, Toys, & Tying the bow (too bad he Tied his beard into the bow!)  These gnomes are from Beccy's Place, and while they aren't specifically for Christmas, they certainly do work well on Christmas cards.  But they are versatile enough to be great for birthdays or other gift giving occasions.

These two gnomes are from the same set but I merged them into one image.  I colored with ProMarkers, then cut the image with a die from QuicKutz.  I used two scraps of CS for the corners behind the image.  The sentiment was printed, then cut with an Avery Elle die, and matted with green CS.

The dp with the text greetings came from a Recollections stack (don't ask me which one since it was separated from the stack) and the toy embellies are from K & Co., along with the one tiny present in the bottom corner.  Ribbons are from my stash and the double, quad-loop bow was tied using my bow maker.

Bite Me?

Limited Runs is running their September/October Progressive Challenge and their freebie image is "The Count."  I thought the image was hysterically funny and here's what I did with it.

I used the sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2.

First, let me say that the colors in this photo are completely off!  The spiderweb papers are actually violet and the bow is purple, not blue.  The plaid papers stayed pretty much true, thankfully.  I have re-photographed this a dozen times but the colors are still wonky.

I used ProMarkers to color the image and cut it with a Sizzix die.  All four of the dp squares were cut with Unbranded dies and the sentiment was cut with a die from QuicKutz.  The papers are from Graphic 45 and both ribbons came from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I used my bow maker to tie the double loop bow.

Tomorrow is the start of a new month, October!  How did it get to be October already?  Sheesh - it feels like I'm just now recovering from the whirlwind of holidays last winter.  lol  Oh, well, that just means I'll have a pile of DT first-of-the-month posts over the next 24 hours, including one that's brand new for me.  That's all the hint you get right now.  Be sure to check back as your schedule allows.

Mother Earth

OK, yesterday I did the Element of "Fire" for AuroraWings and today it's another card but this time with the Element of "Earth."  This AW image is called "Autumn Rose."

I was influenced by the colors at Outlawz,
well, pretty much, all but the blue.
Fortunately, they only wanted 3 colors out of the 5
and a vintage flavor.

I've colored this image several times before in bright reds and pinks, even a deep purple one time, but since this card was being used to represent the element of Earth, I colored her in the rich but subdued tones of autumn with woodsy tans, browns, and olive greens.

I colored her completely with ProMarkers, then cut her with a stitched die from Die-namics.  I cut the deep brown frame from a scrap of CS with another of those same dies, and then did an out-of-the-box (literally) layering of the image piece onto the frame.  I used a scrap bit of text dp behind both of those die cuts and wrapped it all with left over scraps of forest green ribbon.

I tied a quadruple loop bow using my bowmaker and added two metallic brads above and below the bowtie.  The sentiment is written with a VersaMark pen and heat embossed with white EP.  Ask me if I feel proud of myself for using up all those scraps!  :-D
