Easy Breezy "Pink" October

October is the month to "Think Pink" and we're doing just that over at SheepSki Designs.  Our challenge theme for this month is "Use a Touch of Pink."  During this Breast Cancer Awareness month, and as a cancer survivor, I want to remind each one of you ladies to get those appointments scheduled for mammograms and checkups.

I'm celebrating a pink fall by using this gorgeous SheepSki Designs image called "Emmy's Breeze."

I colored with my ProMarkers, and cut the image with a stitched die from Lawn Fawn.  The background is cut with my favorite Altenew die, making perfect polka dots with lovely texture.  Since I used it the first time about 3 weeks ago, I've done no fewer than 6 cards using it for the background.  I told you it was a favorite!  lol

The sentiment is printed and hand cut.  I added the large, white rose and a sheer pink bow, both of which made the card even more feminine.  This one was an absolute joy to color!

     Challenges:

Colour Crazy

Creative Fingers
House that Stamps Built
Kraftin' Kimmie

I really hope you'll come and play along this month.  Spread the word about Breast Cancer Awareness every day of October!  Early detection is the best defense we have and we can beat that disease with our power as women to support each other and make a difference.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

New DT Spot with Ike's Art!

I'm thrilled and excited to announce that I'm going to be working with the DT at Ike's Art!  This is my card for the Ike's World Challenge which starts today with a theme of "Girl Power" and with this theme, we are also honoring all the women who have fought Breast Cancer.  I used "Fashionista."

I based this on the October sketch from Kraftin' Kimmie.

I colored the image with my Lyra Polychromos pencils, sticking with a color combo of pinks, and doing my best to improve on my shading and highlighting techniques.  I'm learning slowly but shading with pencils is so very different than doing it with alcohol markers!

I cut the image with one of my Stitched Rectangle dies from Die-namics.  I also pieced together two different bits of dp, then used another, larger, stitched rectangle die on those and used them as the background for the image.  All the other papers and CS were scraps left on my desk from another project (I'll post that project in a few days) and the ribbon was also a scrap left in my stash.  The white bow was the only embellishment this needed.

I did sentiments which I knew would be encouraging to any cancer survivor.  I remember the cards and prayers I got when I was undergoing my own battle with breast cancer (15 year survivor now!) and how much the love and encouragement meant to me.

     Challenges;
Brown Sugar
Catch the Bug
Cut It Up
Di's Digi Designs
Pencil Case
Scrapper's Delights
Scrapy Land
Southern Girls
Time Out
Unicorn

I would love to see you playing along in our challenge at Ike's.  No requirement to use one of her images in order to enter but we love seeing them if you have them.  Check out the blog or the FB page.  There are freebies available there.  :-D  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie

In the Pink Again

Another Pink card for October's Breast Cancer Awareness, this time using a delightful image from The East Wind.  This was a newsletter freebie and works so perfectly for Breast Cancer Awareness cards.  Mine is focused on those of us who have survived and on celebrating that marvelous fact.  :-D

I chose to work with the sketch from Mojo Monday
but deviated from it a bit because I simply loved
all the polka dots and didn't want to cover them up on the
lower portion of the card.  :-D

I used my ProMarkers to color it, then cut it with a Stitched Scalloped Circle die from Memory Box.  I die cut another plain Stitched Circle (Die-namics) as a frame and then layered that onto another, larger Stitched Scalloped Circle for an additional frame.

I used very wide, sheer, pink ribbon and added a polka dot ribbon on top of that.  Both of those are scraps left from another project which you'll be seeing in a couple of days.  I die cut the sentiment tag and finally, made one of my 'bowtie' bows, using yet another polka dot ribbon from my scrap stash bin.
