Birthday Flight for Pegasus

Welcome to another Friday and the start of another challenge week at QKR Stampede.  Our theme is always "Anything Goes" and you can use products or images from any company.  If you do choose to use a QKR Stampede image (or even one from our sister company, Eureka Stamps), your entry will go onto a separate draw and that increases your chances of winning by a huge margin!

This QKR image is called "Pegasus" and I love him to bits!

I based this card on the sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches
but I reversed it and adjusted it for a vertical card.

I used ProMarkers to color the image and cut it with a stitched die from Card Deco.  I used my favorite purple paper with hearts and flowers on it as the background and added the sentiment to it.  I die cut all the flowers (Spellbinders), added glitter to two of them and to the lavender flower, then added tiny gems.  I added Glossy Accents to his eyes and wings but none of that shows up very well in the photo.

This is my oldest granddaughter's birthday card and I can share it on my blog because she's already seen it.  Her birthday was yesterday and she loved this card!  She's the one who really loves dragons but she also has a passion for Greek Mythology so this aging Pegasus was a definite hit.  :-D

     Challenges:
Crafty Creations
Dream Valley
Double Trouble (all 3 - middle row of TicTacToe)
Ellibelle's Crafty Weds.
Papercraft
Paper Shelter
Passion for ProMarkers
Scrapy Land
Use Your Stuff

I hope we're going to see you playing along with us this  week.  How can you lose with an Anything Goes theme?  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Pegasus in Purple

I'm a Guest Designer for Sketch Saturday this month and this is my second card for them but a completely new sketch.  They have new sketches and new challenges each week.  The sketch this week was both fun and fancy.

The sponsor for this week is LeAnn's World 101.  She has some of the most adorable images!  Go check them out.  I used one called "Daisy's Friend" and was delighted that the friend is Pegasus.  :-D

A quick personal story - I first discovered Pegasus through reading.  As a child, summer meant plenty of reading time (without any teachers telling you what you had to read) and one summer, I discovered Greek Mythology.  That led to a love of all fantasy creatures and to this day, unicorns, fairies, mermaids, and especially Pegasus, all mean summer time to me.

Here's the sketch.
I colored with ProMarkers, deciding to use a monochromatic range of my favorite color, purple.  I cut the image and purple frame with dies from my newest Tonic Studios set.  I love that die set.  It has alternating sizes of plain and scalloped rectangles.  Once I had the image cut with the  die, I carefully cut it into 6 "inchie" squares.

I laid those out on the frame piece, spacing them carefully to get the 'window' look.  Once adhered, I layered that entire piece onto the background dp (Stampin' Up), then put that onto deep purple CS.

I printed and added the sentiment, substituting it for the little flag piece.

     Challenges:
As You Like It (Fur or feathers?  How about both!  But fur is still easier to color.)

I'll see you again next Saturday with another sketch.  In the meantime, come play with us, won't you?  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Challenge #2 at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies

It's the first day of May and also the start of our second challenge at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies where we are truly an Anything Goes challenge - meaning you can create any kind of project with only one requirement - you must feature a creature on it.

We are sponsored by Fabrika Fantasy this month and they have all sorts of wonderful critters and creatures among their fun images.  I chose to use "Flying Pegasus" this time.

I colored the image with my ProMarkers, then cut it with a stitched die from CUTplorations.    I matted it with a die cut frame (Gina Marie Dies.)   I found two different, sheer, ribbons in my stash and layered them together before wrapping them around the card front.  I added the image piece, angled for some interest, and then trimmed those corners of it which overhung the edges of the card front.

I tied a bow with the topmost ribbon and then added the sentiment.  I know it's pretty CAS but I wanted to showcase the image in that marvelous frame, not cover it up with embellishments.  :-D

     Challenges:
Addicted to Stamps
Crafty Sentiments
Digi Choosday
I {heart} ProMarkers
Inspiration Destination
Kraftin' Kimmie
Lemon Shortbread
Sisterhood of Crafters (Blue)
Through the Craft Room Door
Word Art Weds.

If you didn't get a chance to play in our first challenge last month at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies, be sure to come and play along this month.   Make anything you like just as long as it features some kind of critter.  Hope to see you playing along over there.  Happy Stamping  NanaConnie

Spread Your Wings

I've always had a fascination with mythology and Pegasus is one of my favorite creatures.  I have a dear friend who shares that particular love so I made this birthday card just for her.  The image is from Fabrika Fantasy and is a new one for me.

This time I colored the image with chalks and I framed it with the outer piece left over from a die cut (Spellbinders die)  I used on another project.   The purple paper was a great match for this lavender image, done by mixing blue and pink chalks.  It's amazing what one can do simply by saving the scraps and negatives of other die cuts.  I mounted that whole piece onto a card base and then added the bling and the one flower.

     Challenges:
Allsorts
Aud Sentiments
Chalk n Stock
Crafty Addicts
Fabrika Fantasy
Get Creative
Inky Chicks
Jo's Scrap Shack
Lemon Shortbread
Outlawz Greetings
Pammie's Inky Pinkies

I hope my friend loves this one as much as I do.  I'm really pleased with final product.  :-D  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie
