An Elephant Never Forgets

Nothing better than using an elephant on a belated birthday card !  lol  This fun image from QKR Stampede, called "Elephant and Butterfly," seemed perfect for those occasional birthdays which really aren't forgotten but somehow I forget to put the card in the mail on time.  This is my DT card for the July mid-month challenge at QKR Stampede.  The challenge will run until the end of the month and a new one will begin on August 1st.  I do hope we see you playing along.

I used ProMarkers and gel pens to color the image, then cut it with a Dare 2B Artzy stitched circle die.   The sentiment was printed and cut with an Avery Elle die.  The double loop bow was tied using baker's twine.  I used my 'Linen' embossing folder on the blue strip of CS and the dp bits (also scraps) are from a very old stack by DCWV.

I chose the colors from the My Favorite Things challenge,
including the tiny bits of  'Coral' in the butterfly wings.

Elephants Never Forget

Is it Friday again, already?  OMG!  That means it's time for a new weekly challenge at QKR Stampede.  Our theme is Anything Goes (as always) and you can use any products you wish.  Remember though, if you use either a QKR Stampede or a Eureka Stamps image (our sister company), your entry is put into a separate draw and that increases greatly your chance of being a winner.

My card today is another one for my stash of birthday cards (albeit, this for a belated birthday) and it features a great QKR image called "Being Silly."

Not Carmen Miranda!

I think this Rick St. Dennis image is hysterically funny and hate to admit that it's been in my collection for a while, unused.  She may be a hot cha-cha dancer but she's no Carmen Miranda!  I love the whole idea of an elephant in Spanish Dancer costume.  :-D

I used the sketch I found at Tuesday Morning Sketches.

I colored with ProMarkers, polychromos pencils, and gel pens.  I added glitter to the diamonds on her costume and used white gel ink on all the pearls.  The image is cut with an Unbranded die.

The turquoise CS is embossed with my "Linen" folder and added to the card front.  I took a piece of patterned dp from another project (which went into the 'round file' after I saved some of the dp and embellies) and cut it with a border die from Spellbinders.  I added it on top to the CS to make the upper triangle.  I printed and hand cut the sentiment, matted it with the same recycled dp, then added the satin bow, complete with a pearl.

Classic DT Open
Crafts Galore Encore
Crafty Sentiments
Die Cut Divas

Didn't Forget

I'm working on my stash of birthday cards again so you'll see another two or three of them this week.  This one is made using one of the cutest elephant images from Bugaboo Stamps.

I started by coloring with ProMarkers, then added glitter to both balloons for some sparkle.  I printed and hand cut the sentiment, matted it and added it to the bottom of the image.  I cut the image piece with a stitched die from CUTplorations.  The yellow part of the background was cut with a stitched Memory Box die and then layered onto some bright pink CS before adhering it to the card front.

I found some delightful polka dot ribbon and used my bow maker to tie a bowtie bow.  I have to use a bow maker to tie any of those.  It's not something I can do with just my two hands and still keep the bows straight.  :-D

     Challenges:
Aud Sentiments
Catch the Bug (top row)
Color Inspiration Mon
Crafting with Friends
DL.ART
Outlawz Festive Friday
Polkadoodles
Southern Girls
Take It, Make It

Thanks for visiting today.  I love it when you leave me a comment.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

"Never Forget" Belated Birthday

I know the title of this post is a complete contradiction but I'm using this card for a birthday which I did forget so...  The cute little elephant is an image from Dragon's Lair January Progressive challenge

I colored with my ProMarkers, then cut the image with a square die from QuicKutz.  The two rectangular pieces of dp are cut with Chain Link dies from Gina Marie.  Both of those papers are from SU.

The card front is dry embossed with a bamboo embossing folder.  I printed the sentiment, hand cut it, inked the edge, and mounted it onto the card front.  Because this is a masculine birthday card, I did no fru-fru embellishing.

     Challenges:
Color Inspiration Monday
Crafting from the Heart
Crafty Sentiments
Digi Choosday
Pammie's Inky Pinkies
Passion for ProMarkers
Simon Says Stamp
TTCRD
Tuesday Throwdown

I'm off to get this into the mail so that it won't be any later reaching the recipient.  Bad enough that I forgot to get the card made in time for it to arrive on his birthday!  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie
