Kitty Hugs

The cat in this image from The East Wind reminds me so much of Honey (see sidebar.)  When Honey wants attention, regardless of what I may be doing, I'm interrupted with purrs, mewlings, even a large white body in my lap or on the computer keyboard !  But if I want a kitty hug when it's not desired by the Great White Feline, then I get front paws pushing away and a sneering feline face.  lol

I colored with ProMarkers, added a sparkly flower to her hair, and used a die from Spellbinders to cut the image.  The sparkly, glittered, ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon and, between the glitter and the interesting fold at the top, I used it to add some texture.

I printed the sentiment and cut it with another scalloped die, then cut that in half lengthwise.  I found an orchid in my stash of flowers and added it.  After that, I left it as a CAS design.

First Rose

Do any of you remember the first rose you were ever given by a sweetheart?  All the rest are beautiful and wonderful to receive but there's something extra special about your First Love's Rose.  :-D  This card celebrates memories of that first rose.

The image is by The East Wind and I colored her with my ProMarkers then added a frame which was left over from a die cut I did for another card.  The die is from Spellbinders.  The green ribbon was in my stash and I tied the bow by hand.

Remembering Marilyn

It seems strange to think of Marilyn Monroe as anything but a thirty-something person but, had she lived, she would be 90 years old this year!  Her death was 54 years ago last Friday and she's still an icon of the silver screen.

As a tribute, this image by The East Wind came with their monthly newsletter and is called, appropriately enough, Aurora "Marilyn."

I used the sketch from Outlawz
and colors that came from House That Stamps Built.

  aug16cc

I colored with my ProMarkers, then cut and corner punched the image.  I matted it with black dp which does have a print in it but it's rather faint and difficult to see.  Again, I punched the corners.  I added a polka dot background and then dug out my Memory Box dies.

I cut gray butterflies, then pink vines and flowers, stacking layers of flower petals to make the two larger flowers which are adhered on top of the black ribbon.  I added sparkly gems, scattering them across the image and the die cuts.  After all, Marilyn did believe that "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend!"

Not a Creature was Stirring...

When I saw this freebie image in The East Wind newsletter, of course I fell in love with the darling felines curled up inside a Christmas bauble and had to use it right away.  This is the card for my gift to the fur babies and I'll include a couple catnip toy mice, which they will love.  :-D

I chose to use the sketch at Sweet Sketch Weds.2 for this card
and I love the way it turned out.

I used my ProMarkers to color the image, then added glitter gel ink to the bauble (unfortunately invisible in the photo!)    The image and the green mat are both die cut with one of my new stitched die sets (Memory Box.)  The trees are die cuts (Cottage Cutz) and I added loose glitter to make them sparkle.

The sparkly ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon and I have no idea who made the strip of dp.  It was a scrap. The bow with the pearl is one of those I make by the dozens and keep in my stash.  Again, this was made with white ribbon and I used my ProMarker to 'dye' it.  The sentiment, of course, comes from the "T'was the Night Before Christmas" poem but it fit so perfectly -- just look at those two totally zonked-out cats.  :-D

Get Well Dragon

I have no idea why this image from The East Wind made me think of a "Get Well" card; maybe it was the potion bottle that made me think of  'a teaspoon of medicine?'  :-D  Whatever it was, I love the dragon and I know a granddaughter who will love it, too, so I'll have a get well card in the stash if she gets sick this winter.

My sketch came from Outlawz Sketch Challenge,
turned sideways.

I colored the image (using a favorite blue and purple color combo) with a combination of ProMarkers and Copics and, although it doesn't show, I added sparkle gel ink to the bottle.  The image is cut with a framing die from Spellbinders and the polka dot blue mat is also die cut.  I layered that onto a deep purple CS, then added the sparkly striped ribbon.  I used that same ribbon to tie the bow with my Craft-Dee BowZ bow maker.  Finally, I added the sentiment.  Can you believe everything was done with scraps from my stash, including the ribbon?

"Fall" in Love

How's this for a perfect, fall wedding, bridal shower card?  The shower decorations are all being done in fall colors.  The image is from The East Wind, where their current FB challenge has a theme of "Lovin' the Animals."

My colors were inspired by Our Crafty Corner.

The image is colored with ProMarkers, then die cut with a die from Spellbinders.  I took a few of the leaves which were bits that dropped out of the die cut, colored them with ProMarkers, and used them for corner embellies.  The background CS (all from my stash) is hand-torn and layered onto the card front.  Each piece was run through my "Linen" folder before tearing.  The bow is made from hem tape lace and I 'dyed' it with ProMarker to get the color I wanted.

Hey, it's Wednesday and officially Autumn here in the Northern Hemisphere!  Only two more days 'til the weekend and our weather is supposed to cool down for a day or so, then get hot again on Friday and Saturday.  I keep hoping for the cool breath of fall but I'm beginning to lose faith in the weather predictors.  :-D  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie

Rock It, Girl !

The latest monthly freebie is in the newsletter from The East Wind and their challenge theme is "Use Corrugated Paper."  I decided to use that freebie image on my card for their challenge.

I used the sketch from Die Cuttin' Divas
and colors from House That Stamps Built.

I used my ProMarkers to color the image and die cut her with a die from Spellbinders.  I used markers (red and yellow) to ink the edges.  The corrugated paper was cut with another Spellbinders' die.  For the background, I used a dp which I found in my 12" x 12" scrapbooking papers.  The dried flowers also came from my stash and they've been there at least a year but obviously, they were meant just for this card.  :-D

I have a feeling this might get used as a birthday card for one of my granddaughters, or more likely, just a 'thinking of you' card for one of them.

     Challenges:

There's another post scheduled for later tonight, all about the new September challenge at Pattie's Creations.  You don't want to miss that one.  Then tomorrow, there's a new challenge at QKR Stampede and my DT card for that will post in the wee hours of morning (my time) but it's worth a peek, too.  See you then.  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie
