Pin Up Girl?

It's the 15th of the month and the day that a new challenge starts at QKR Stampede.  This challenge will run through the end of the month and the next one starts on the 1st of September.

The image I used on my DT card is one that has been recently used by at least three of the DT members.  It seems that when the first gal used it, we all fell in love with the total silliness of it and decided to do our own versions of fun and playful cards.

The image is called "Momma Snake" but I thought she looked more like one of those glamorous WWII pin up girls.  lol  I colored her with my ProMarkers and fussy cut her.  Then I mounted her onto a rectangle which had been cut it with a Die-namics stitched die.  Both of the background papers are from the Recollections 'Bright & Basic' stack.

The sentiment is printed and cut with an Avery Elle die.  I added one of my signature bows and called it finished.  Pretty CAS even if the "white" space is dp.  :-D

I took inspiration from the color wheel at

Color My Heart Color Dare and

used opposites of Red and Green.

Snakes and Rainy Days

I'm not sure there's really any correlation between snakes and rainy days, other than the fact that I feel pretty much the same about both of them; I don't mind them but they can be annoying if they happen every day.  :-D

It's Friday again so that means it's time for a new challenge at QKR Stampede.  We always have a theme of "Anything Goes" so there's no reason for you not to enter.  You could win some fun and funny images from QKR Stampede.

The one I used today is called "Wrapped Up" and the sentiment is called "A Little Rain."  I'm sure this little snake would adopt that sentiment as his life's philosophy!  After all, there's probably nothing nastier than trying to navigate across wet and slippery tree branches.

I colored with ProMarkers (my absolute favorites for coloring because I love the way alcohol ink blends), then cut the image with a stitched die from My Favorite Things - Die-namics.  The background pieces are cut with a die from Sue Wilson.  I cut two and offset them behind the image because the cut pieces were too small for just one to frame the image.  One more way to make my smaller dies more flexible.

I added green jute cord, wrapped around the card front, then tied into a bow.

Snakes in the Snow

We're starting a new challenge today and we have a really simple theme: "Lots of Layers."  I think this is one of the funniest images I've ever seen at QKR Stampede!    (Digi 12602 "Happy Snake")  The sentiment is my own this time.

The image is colored with ProMarkers and die cut with a die from Spellbinders.  I used two layers of burlap as mats for the image because it gives such great texture.  Besides, the burlap is new and it was right there on my desk, waiting to be put away, so why not use it?  :-D  Those mats are die cut with the same set of dies.  I also matted the sentiment with burlap.  Behind the matted image, I used torn CS and behind that a layer of dark brown CS.

For embellishments, I added a strip of ribbon (brand new from Really Reasonable Ribbon) at the top of the card and then added one of the handsewn bows I make by the dozens and keep in my stash for future use.  This one was made with white ribbon, dyed with marker to get the exact color I wanted.

Come play in our Layers challenge this week, won't you?  We'd love to see what you create.  Remember, you can use any image by any company, but if you do use a QKR Stampede image, your project is entered into a separate drawing just for QKR users.  That increases your chance of winning significantly.   Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie
