Keep Your Chin Up

The card I'm sharing today is made with all my East Texas and Florida friends in mind.  I thought they all could do with a bit of humor in their lives right now.  :-D  We're praying for all of you every day and acknowledge you for your strength and bravery in the face of horrendous hurricanes.

I did my best to use all the colors from

I colored this image (Bugaboo Stamps) with my ProMarkers, then cut it with a Gina Marie Designs die.  I found the plaid dp in my stash and used it for the full background.  I wrapped a strip of gray-blue lace around it before adhering it to the card front.

I had a scrap of yellow leaves dp left over from an earlier project so matted it with dark gray CS and layered it onto the card front.  Next came the image piece, two strips of orange dp and the sentiment.  The final touch was the bow, dyed golden orange with a marker.

Good to be Queen !

I once had a friend whose favorite phrase was "It's good to be the queen!" and she really meant it.  :-D  Unfortunately, she lived in the US where there are no titles or royalty.  So my phrase was, "It's tough to be queen in America."

But working on this image (from AuroraWings) made me think of both those phrases and either would have worked as the sentiment but I went with the kinder, gentler one.

I took my colors from the refreshing photo inspiration at

I wanted the card to be as CAS as possible so I printed the image right onto the card front along with the sentiment.  I colored her with my ProMarkers and added pale blue chalk to the lightest areas of her dress.

I found deep blue, satin ribbon in my stash and tied it around the card front, then added the hand-sewn bow.  That seemed to be all it needed so I did nothing further by way of embellishment.

Totally in Love

OK, you have a little over a week to get all your Valentine cards ready and we're going to encourage you over at QKR Stampede with a theme of "Valentine Cards" this week.   How can you miss with a theme that general?

My card is made using a wonderful image and fun sentiment, both from QKR Stampede;  6905 "Totally in Love" and 14513 "Valentine."

I used the colors from Colour Sisters
and Sketch #301 from Sketch Saturday.

The image is colored with my ProMarkers and cut with a rectangle die (Spellbinders.)  The mat is cut with a stitched rectangle die from Lawn Fawn.  I used a Darice embossing folder on the darker panel.  The card is embellished with a flower, a button, twine, and a bow with a pearl.

     Challenges:

I'm nearly done with all the Valentines I need for this year; only a couple more to make and a couple which still need to be finished.  Get yours done and come enter them in our QKR Stampede challenge this week.  Looking forward to seeing your fabby creations.  Happy Stamping.  NanaConie
