Love in Tennis

Another Friday, another QKR Stampede "Anything Goes" challenge but, as usual, we also have an optional theme if you want to use it - "Any Sport with a Ball."   I thought "Tennis Duck" was a perfect image for that theme and grabbed him from the shop as quickly as I could.

I printed the image and sentiment right onto the card front.  I used chalks and ProMarkers to color the image, then cut a blue frame with a Gina Marie die.  The frame is laid right on top of the image making it look like two or even three layers.  I wrapped jute cord around the card front and tied baker's twine around the cord.

     Challenges:
Addicted to CAS
Addicted to Stamps & More
Glitter n Sparkle
I {heart} ProMarkers
Lil Patch of Crafty Friends
Pammie's Inky Pinkies
Paper Girls
Scrapper's Delights
Send a Smile 4 Kids
Stamping Sensations

Extreme hot weather is back so I'm running away for another week.  I'll be back for a couple of days and then gone again over Labor Day.  But I have four posts scheduled for the 1st of September, all DT work, so feel free to visit.  I'll visit with all of you when I get back.   Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

America's Sport

It's Friday and, as you know, that means a new challenge over at QKR Stampede.  We always have our "Anything Goes" theme but each week we offer you an optional theme if you choose to use it.  This week our optional theme is "For the Guys."

I always hear the old expression that Baseball is "America's Sport" but have never really understood why.  Basketball is the most watched on television and football (the kind we play here in the US, not soccer) is the most attended in person.  So how does baseball rank as America's Sport?

However it got that way, my grandson plays baseball and loves it so having this card on hand for him seemed a natural.  I used the QKR image "Baseball Bunny."

I used a pretty simple design but also did lots of layers.  I started by coloring the image with my ProMarkers then cut it with a Gina Marie die.  The sentiment was also done on smaller die cut piece using a die from that same set.

I matted each of those pieces with navy blue dp from the scrap stash.  I found two more scraps of dp and used them for the background, then layered on the image and sentiment.  Finally, I found some blue baker's twine, wrapped it around the card front and tied a square knot, then trimmed the tails fairly short.  A fun, masculine design.

     Challenges:
Connie Can Crop
Crafty Animals
Crafty Awesomeness
Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper
Creatalicious
Cute as a Button
Delicious Doodles
Die Cut Divas
Dies R Us
Open-Minded Crafting Fun

Please come and play in our challenge this week.  You're not required to use a QKR image but if you do, your card will be entered into a separate draw for QKR Stampede images only.  Believe me when I say that significantly increases your chances of winning!  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie

Keep Your Eye on the Ball

This week at the QKR Stampede challenge, we want you to "Keep Your Eye on the Ball."   In other words, do cards showcasing any sport that uses a ball.  I chose golf because I love this darling 'Old Golfer' (Digi 16103.)  I also used the sentiment 'My Wife Said' (Digi 16409.)

I've returned to using my ProMarkers to color, then I fussy cut the image and layered it with dimensional dots on top of a stitched, scalloped circle, die cut.  I also used another die cut of circles in the background.  Both die sets are from Memory Box.  The polka dot "bowtie" was added for embellishment but after that I left it alone.  I wanted a masculine card and it just didn't need any further embellishment.

     Challenges:
A Bit More Time to Craft
A Gem of a Challenge
Aud Sentiments
CCC Digi
Classic Design Team Open
Crafting with an Attitude
Crafts and Me
Cut It Up
Die Cut Divas
Not Just Cards
Oddball Art
Paper Creator's Crafts

I hope we're going to see you playing in our challenge this week.  Remember, it's any sport, any at all, as long as it uses some kind of ball.  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie

Please continue to leave comments.  The "Word Verification" really isn't on.  BLOGGER INSISTS ON SHOWING THE "CAPTCHA" ICON BUT IF YOU IGNORE IT AND JUST PUBLISH YOUR COMMENT, IT WILL POST JUST FINE.  I WISH I COULD GET RID OF IT BUT THERE'S NO OPTION FOR THAT WHEN THE COMMENTS ARE WRITTEN IN A SEPARATE BOX. SORRY.

Fishing - Vacation or Sport?

I had an uncle who insisted that fishing was a sport, but my dad always said a day spent fishing was like taking a vacation.  Since he often took me fishing with him, and it always felt like special father-daughter time when he did, I guess I don't really care which it is -- I just love going fishing.  It brings me such sweet and wonderful memories of him.  :-D

Here's a card I know he'd love, including the lovable turtle character.  That came from QKR Stampede.

I used the sketch from STAMPlorations
and Citrus/Tropical Colors from Craft Your Passions.

The image is colored with ProMarkers, then die cut with a die from Spellbinders.  I inked the edges, typed up the sentiment, and found the three, heart-shaped, buttons in my stash.  I strung them together with baker's twine and adhered them to the dp on the front of the card.  The dp came from Colorbok.

     Challenges:
Crafting with Dragonflies
Crazy Challenge
Digistamps 4 Joy
Eureka Stamps
Fan-Tastic Tuesday
House That Stamps Built
Little Red Wagon
MFP Simple Salutations
Penny's Paper-Crafty
Simon Says Stamp

Hope your weekend is going well and that the weather is decent.  If it's too hot or too cold, maybe you should be inside crafting!  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie
