Gift Card Holder for Christmas

Something a little different today - a gift card holder with a belly band holding it closed, featuring a Conie Fong image called Candy Cane Girl Elf on the front of the belly band. She's available as a single or in a group of 3 girl elves.  There are also boy elves available in a separate set, all the same poses but with boy elves instead of girls.  Check out the Conie Fong store HERE.  All of the new Elf images are on sale right now so grab them soon!

I'll have some other gift card/money holders to post over the next few weeks so keep an eye out.  For this one, I colored the image with my Sanjoki markers, then fussy cut the image to add to the front of the belly band.  I folded and scored plain CS to make the holders (4" x 8" strip scored/folded at 3.5" and 7" which leaves a 1" fold-down flap on the back), added dp to the front, taped the sides together with double stick tape, then used a strip of that same dp to make the belly band and slid it over the card holder.  These could also be used for money gifts by folding the money.  The finished (outside) dimensions of the holder are 3.5" x 4".

     Challenges:

Don't forget that Conie Fong has a challenge running over on our Facebook site and you can enter anything using a Conie Fong image.  Don't have any Conie Fong images?  Check out the sale over at the store (sale images are only $2.00!) or look at the freebies available on the FB site.  No excuse not to enter.  :-D

Gift Card Holders for Christmas

Last week when I was doing cards for the Christmas in July challenges, I made a money folder specifically for cash but it could have been used for gift cards as well.  However, it was longer than needed for a gift card so I rimmed the height and made these.

It seems every holiday season (well, all year round, actually) my family members and several of my friends come to me asking for gift card holders.  I guess we use a lot of them.  So, this year, I'm trying to get ahead of the game and get a couple dozen made up before the first request comes in.  :-D

To make these, I start with card stock which is 4.5" high x 8" long and I score along the length of it at 1", at 4", and at 7", then fold on the 1" and 7" score lines, using double sided tape to close those folded ends so that they won't flip open.  On one side is where the gift card goes and on the other there is room for a short note or for "To:/From:" tag.

Here's what they look like when the gift cards are safely tucked inside and they are folded up and tied with the ribbon which runs under the image and wraps around the back to tie on the right hand side.

Day 23, Letter "T" for Toy

It's already Day 23 at Beccy's Place 30 Days of Christmas and I'm showing you one more Gift Card Holder focusing on the letter prompt "T."  I chose to make my T stand for Toys, using this adorable little pull Toy Reindeer from Beccy.  My gold 'ribbon' for the Tie is actually Tree Tinsel.

Letter "R" at Beccy's Place 30 Days of Christmas

It's Day 20 already at Beccy's Place, since she's in Australia, and our alpha prompt is the letter "R" which I used by making another gift card holder featuring one of Beccy's adorable Reindeer.  I also added sparkly Ribbon for the tie to close the folder and Rainforest green glitter paper.

Colored with ProMarkers
Fussy cut image, mounted on Pop Dots
Strip of glitter paper to cover the Ribbon
Embossed CS for making the folder (I thought those words were enough as sentiments)
Ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon

Day 18, Letter "P" - 30 Days of Christmas

Today we're using the letter "P" as our prompt in Beccy's Place 30 Days of Christmas and I chose one of Beccy's lovely Poinsettia images.  I made another gift card holder made from embossed, Pine Green CS.  The image is cut with a Pin Point die and I also used a die to cut Pine needles for the background.  The folder is tied with Peppermint Candy, red and white twine.  This one is done in my favorite Christmas color combo of red and green.  It's also another of my favorite traditional Christmas images which work better (I think) for adult gifts than cute-sy, childish images.

Just to show you how the inside of the folder looks, although this photo is of another folder I made.

Here's a link to the YouTube video I used to make these.

Gift Card Holder

The theme today over at Catch the Bug's Holiday Chaos is to make a gift, or a gift holder, which can include gift card holders.   Since I needed a couple of gift card holders, I jumped in and made this one, using one of the Bugaboo Bears.  Teddy Bears are fun images any time of year, but at Christmas they are true favorites of mine whether they be polar bears, koala bears, or little brown teddy bear cubs.  I love them because they are just so cuddly compared to other Christmas animals.  When was the last time you hugged your penguin?  lol  Yes, teddy bears are definitely the best.

Here's a photo of the inside.

I colored the bear with my ProMarkers and die cut him with a die from Cottage Cutz.  The die is actually a rounded square but I cut twice, adjusting the placement of the die on the second cut to get a rectangle instead of a square.  The "For You" sentiment was printed with a computer font and fussy cut before adding it to the rectangle of burgundy CS.

The initial measurements of the kraft CS are 6.5 inches x 4.75 inches.  I scored and folded at just short of 3 inches, flipped it around and scored and folded at .5 inch.  I cut a piece of the burgundy CS, added a piece of kraft CS on top and used doubled stick tape on both ends and the bottom, then adhered that on the inside to make the pocket for the gift card.

The bear is adhered to the outside on the back of the card pocket flap. The narrow flap will fold down and can be sealed with double stick tape to keep the card safely secured inside.
