Tiny Party

Despite all the emphasis on 'Social Distancing' and either mandatory or voluntary home isolation, the fairies who live in this village have decided to host a party.  Of course, it's going to be a very tiny party because this is the only hall they could rent!  lol

The image is from the Progressive Challenge at Limited Runs this month.

Colored with ProMarkers and chalks
Image and metallic paper mat (scrap) cut with Tonic Studios dies
Filigree ribbon scrap
Gold metallic ribbon for multi-loop bow
3 mini buttons - Usually, I reach for the pearls but these buttons were exactly the right size and color so it was buttons instead of pearls!  :-D
Sentiment cut with Avery Elle die

Fairy Nightsong

I have the honor of being a Guest Designer at The Outlawz Songs and Rhymes challenge today.   Each week, they choose lyrics from a song or poem as inspiration for a crafty project.  This week, it's "Fairy Nightsongs."  Fairy NightSongs
Dancing a spiral we sing unaware
On fairy night wings our songs fill the air
Making a circle of magic and light
Watched silently by the Fey of the night

Here's my card with an image from Anne Fenton and she's the sponsor for the entire month of August.

I started with a sketch from Die Cuttin' Divas, turned to stand vertical.

I used ProMarkers to color her, added copper glitter to her wings, then fussy cut the image.  I adhered her to a double oval die cut (Spellbinders.)  I found a scrap of lace in my stash, cut it in two, and added the strips to the card front.  I layered on the image and added one of my hand-sewn bows to the bottom of the ovals.

Fairy Godmother in Training

Have you ever wondered how Fairy Godmothers get their skills?  Like any truly great, magical creature such as warlocks or wizards, they are required to go to school and serve as intern/trainees with older, more experienced, fully accredited, Fairy Godmothers.  Yes, it's true!  And, sadly, there are mistakes and mishaps at the famous fairy school, Nowarts, just as there are each school year at Hogwarts.

The Fairy Godmother Trainee on today's card comes from Bugaboo Stamps.

I was inspired by sketch #498 at Sketch Saturday.

I colored with ProMarkers, and cut the image with a scalloped circle die from Sizzix.  I found a scrap of bright pink, polka dot dp and added it for a pop of color.  The sentiment was printed, hand cut, and inked on the edges.  I tied one of my bow tie bows, using complementary polka dot ribbon.

There you are, a fast and simple card design that took about 20 minutes to make after the coloring was done.

Dancing in Your Mind

I remember 6 years of childhood ballet classes (and more than a few performances) and, all these years later, my mind tells me I could still do it.  My body, however, rebels at the idea so the dancing is only in my mind.  Today's sentiment was inspired by that.  :-D

The card features an image from Fabrika Fantasy - I think it's called Fire Fairy.  I colored it with a combination of polychromos pencils and ProMarkers, trying to keep an underlying 'sepia' tone, highlighted with bright yellow.  I cut the image with one of my newer stitched dies from Cheapo Dies.

I matted it with black CS and shaped the corners with a Fiskars' punch.  The card itself was shaped with one of my extra large dies from Spellbinders, then folded in half.  I added the glittered ribbon and laid down a row of bronze pearls to accent the sepia look.

I put one, tiny, bronze, pearl on the opposite side and then added the sentiment.

Mythical Ice Fairies

I'm sure we've all heard of fairies but how many of us know about Ice Fairies?  Usually, fairies go underground and hide in their homes where it's warm throughout the cold snowy months of winter.  But there's a special breed of Ice Fairies who dearly love the cold weather.  They score our windows with frost paintings and hang icicles from the eaves and tree branches.

This beautiful image must be a clan leader among the Ice Fairies - she's just so glamorous and elegant.  This image is from AuroraWings and I had so much fun bringing her alive with color.

I used polychromos pencils to color her and blended everything with gamsol.  I added touches of white gel ink to certain spots and did her lips and eyes with ProMarkers.  I die cut the image with one of my favorite dies from Spellbinders.  I trimmed off  a tiny point on each end for a smoother shape and then I inked the edges.

The pale blue paper with the tiny snowflakes came from DCWV's "Winter Magic" stack, something I've had in my stash for several years and I'm still working my way through it.  For embellishment, I added one small hand-sewn bow with a pearl.

Elements - Fire

I love the challenge theme at AuroraWings this month - Be Inspired by one of the 4 Elements: Earth, Air, Wind or Fire.  I chose this wonderful AW image "Enchanted Visions" and did it in the colors of fire.

This one is based on the sketch from Creative Sketchy Girls.

The background is done with watercolor paints and the girl and fairies are colored with my ProMarkers.  I had to be very careful with the watercolors around the fairy wings but it worked out OK.

I cut everything into squares; the image, both background pieces and the card base.  I embossed the two CS pieces with my Linen folder, then arranged everything on the card front.  I wrapped it all with two ribbons from my stash and tied one of them into a bow.

I didn't do any sentiment because I thought the image spoke for itself.

The Fairy's Dragonfly

Wouldn't it be great to be a fairy with your own personal dragonfly to bring you a rose and say something warm and encouraging that you could carry in your heart all day?  I did this card for a friend of mine who's having some rough moments - just so they'll know I'm thinking of them.

This darling image is from Sheepski Designs and I colored it with my polychromos pencils.  I added glitter to the wings of both the fairy and the dragonfly.  It's a bit hard to see but the black frame is cut with an Inside/Outside Stitched Rectangle die from Die-namics.

The satin ribbon is from my stash, as are the purple and the turquoise CS scraps.  I found that bit of dp in one of my stacks of 'cut-once-leftovers' but it was large enough to use as background here.

I'm enjoying my polychromos pencils more each time I use them.  I can already see that I want to add more colors but I have to find a store that carries individual colors instead of just sets.  They are expensive and then you add shipping on top of the initial price, buying in sets just isn't the most cost effective way of adding to or replacing colors.  If any of you know of such a place, please let me know.  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie

Please continue to leave comments.  The "Word Verification" really isn't on.  BLOGGER INSISTS ON SHOWING THE "CAPTCHA" ICON BUT IF YOU IGNORE IT AND JUST PUBLISH YOUR COMMENT, IT WILL POST JUST FINE.  I WISH I COULD GET RID OF IT BUT THERE'S NO OPTION FOR THAT WHEN THE COMMENTS ARE WRITTEN IN A SEPARATE BOX. SORRY.

Kitten Cuddles

This image from Ppinkydolls was the freebie for the May Progressive challenge at The Outlawz and you know I fell in love with it!

I decided on a CAS design with very limited embellishments.  I colored the image with my ProMarkers plus I added sparkle gel ink to her wings.  The top wing is layered on with Pop Dots for a bit of dimension.  Then I used my largest square die (Spellbinders) to cut it.  I added a piece of sheer ribbon to the image piece and layered that onto a blue card base so that it looks framed or matted.  The butterfly is double layered with one colored and the other one white with a gem for a bit of sparkle.

Wouldn't this make a perfect get well card for a child?

Fairy Glen

The image on this card is called "Mushrooms in the Forest" and it's one of the new (to me, at least) digital images I found over at Sparkle n Sprinkle, where they have a color challenge this month.  Although I've already done one card for that challenge, I bought this digi and used the colors again just because they seemed to really work for this image.

  Aug - Color Challenge

I took my design sketch from The Outlawz.

I colored the image with my favorite alcohol pens, ProMarkers, then cut and mounted it on a doily.  I used green CS for my card base, added glittery sheer ribbon and a bow, then layered on the image piece.

The corners are done with a die from Cheery Lynn Designs and those are the punched out, 'negative' pieces which would normally be thrown out.  I added glitter to the corner pieces, though it's a bit hard to see in the photograph.

The sentiment is my own, computer printed and cut out, then added to the image piece.

Happy Monday to all of you.  It's going to be a long day at work for me today but I'll get to rest when I get home this evening.  Little time for any crafting much before Wednesday afternoon (my treasured mid-week, half-day off) so you know I'll be looking forward to it.  In the meantime, Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie
