Winter Snow

I'm giving you a sneak preview of the Progressive Challenge at LeAnn's World 101 which starts tomorrow on the Facebook page.  The image for the month is "Winter Friends" and, if you played last month, it will be sent to you free of charge during the day tomorrow, December 5th.  For each month that you use the chosen monthly image, you will get the following month's image free.

If you haven't been playing along but would like to start, click on the name of the image up above and that will take you right to the image in the store.  You can purchase it, use it this month, and then start getting the free images in January.

I actually reduced the sides of the image when I cut it into the oval shape but you can see the full image if you click on the store link above.  I colored the image with Sanjoki markers, and cut it with the Poppy Stamps snowflakes die and the center oval is cut free of the snowflakes.  Next, I used that same die to cut silver glitter paper, this time keeping the outer frame to surround the image.

I made a background of red and metallic gold CS scraps.  The sentiment was printed and cut with an Avery Elle die.  That Poppy Stamps die was so fancy and delicate that I decided the card needed no additional embellishment.

Eight Maids a Milking

It's the 7th of another month and that means a new challenge over at FarmQuest General Store, where the theme is always "Anything Goes" but we also want to see 'country.'  That means anything farm, farming, farm animals, fields, open country, ranch, country roads, planting, harvesting - you get the picture.

I'm kind of focused of Christmas cards this month, partly because I love laying in all the "Christmas in July" themed challenges, but also because I'm getting a late start on the 100+ Christmas cards I'm, going to need for this year.  So, today's 'country' card features a line from the Partridge in a Pear Tree carol, and you can't get much more country/farm than milking cows.  :-D

The image is clip art and I cut it with a round QuicKutz die.  The octagon frame was cut with a die from Lawn Fawn (Lawn Cuts.)  The background is all gold glitter paper.  I found the red and gold sparkle ribbon in my stash and I have no idea where I got it.  The gold ribbon for the triple loop bow came from Really Reasonable Ribbon and I used my bow maker to tie it.

I really love the red and gold color combo and all the sparkle from the glitter paper!

     Challenges:
Christmas Bingo (G- free/ribbon/glitter)
Lawn Fawnatics (Milk is food, right? lol)
Outlawz Thurs (Elegantly Rustic!)

I hope you'll come and play with us this month.  We love seeing your creations.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

A Touch of Gold for Christmas

Today, for the new challenge starting over at QKR Stampede, we have our usual "Anything Goes" theme but also an optional theme of "A Touch of Gold."  I wanted to use this fun and funny "Reindeer (24343)" from QKR Stampede.

I used my ProMarkers to color the image, then added a bit of gold paint pen to the ornament caps and hanging loops.  I used a stitched square die from Lawn Fawn to cut the image and I inked the edges with gold marker.

The gold, metallic, ribbon with red and green edges has been in my Christmas stash for quite a while but it worked so perfectly for the "gold" theme that I took the time to dig it out and use it.  I tied a triple loop bow with that ribbon.

The sentiment was printed with a computer font, hand-cut, and layered onto the card front.

     Challenges:
Angie's Digital Stamps
Aud Sentiments (bottom row)
Classic DT Open
C.R.A.F.T.
Crafty Friends
Outlawz Greetings

Golden Rings for "G"

Well, so far, I've been able to participate each day in the month long, daily "Holiday" challenges at Beccy's Place.  As my schedule catches up with me and things get busier, I may miss a few days but I'm still determined to try for one card each day.  That means I will have increased my Christmas card stash by an additional 30 cards!  Woohoo!

Today is supposed to be the day for "G" in the alphabet themes and since Beccy threw us a curve with a Bingo theme yesterday, I'm banking on a return to the alphabet.  :-D  The image is another one from her "12 Days of Christmas" series, this time the 5 Golden Rings.

As you can see, I chose "G"reen and "G"old for my color combo.  I colored the image with my ProMarkers, trimmed it to fit the entire front of my card, and then went looking for either gold or green embellishments.

The gold ribbon (which is sparkly so it "G"limmers in the light) is another piece of that gold lame fabric which I had stitched up to make it ribbon.  I just wrapped it around the card front, joining it where I put the bow.  That bow was white but I 'dyed' it green with a marker.  Finally, I found the sentiment in a pile of Christmas confetti and used "G"lue to adhere it to the card.  Even with those two kinds of embellishment, I think the card is still pretty CAS.

     Challenges:
Beccy's Place
Crafty Sentiments
Digi Choosday
Lemon Shortbread
TTCRD
Unicorn

Hope your week is going well.  I'll be checking in shortly during the lunch break.
