Freesia for Mother's Day

It's March 20th and our Facebook challenges for Sheepski Designs always begin on the 20th of each month.   Our theme is Anything Goes but, for me, this seemed like a good time to get to work on some Mother's Day cards.  This gorgeous "Freesia" image seemed perfect for a mom.

I used a combination of things to color the image this time.  Chalks on the flowers, watercolor pencils on the vase, water and stems, and finally, ProMarkers to add the shadow effect on the right side.  I used a set of stitched dies from CUTplorations to cut the image and both matting layers.

I added ribbon to the darker pink mat, then layered it onto the base layer and put the image on top before adding the hand tied bow.  I printed and hand cut the sentiment, and then left it alone.  I wanted the image to have center stage and chose not to cover it with embellishments other than the sheer bow.

     Challenges:
AAA Cards
Come and Get It
Crafty Calendar
Dragonfly Dreams
Glitter n Sparkle
Great Impressions
Jo's Scrap Shack
Lil Patch of Crafty Friends
Ribbon Girl
Sweet Stampin'

I hope we're going to see you playing in our Facebook challenge this month and don't forget that Andrea is starting up a new blog challenge on April 1.  You can find that challenge on this blog.  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie

How very lovely, freesias were my Mum's favourite flower, even using Yardleys Freesia talcum powder, she couldn't afford the perfume :) Thank you for bringing those memories back to me with this beautiful card.
