Magic Day

It's the middle of the month so that means it's challenge time at World Wide Open DT again.  Julia Spiri sponsors the challenge and this month I'm using "April Elf."

The image is colored with ProMarkers and cut with a die from Spellbinders.  The dark green CS frame is also cut with a die from Spellbinders.  I mounted everything onto a pale green card base, then printed and added the sentiment.  That's it!  No embellishments - just the layers of die cuts doing all the work to focus attention on the intricate details.  Funny how it ends up looking so shabby chic, isn't it?

In Autumn Beauty

We're at the first Friday in October and that means a new challenge over at Emerald City Crafts.  This month I used a beautiful bird image from the "Les Beaux Oiseaux" ephemera collection by Linda Simpson Designs.  I love all the images in this particular collection (see at the bottom) but this one seemed so perfect for an autumn card.

I also decided that this image called for a shabby chic card with lots of layers and plenty of laces, ribbons, and paper flowers for embellishment.  There are several layers to the image piece, then a twill ribbon, plus strips of gray lace all laid on top of a delightful vintage paper.

The multi-loop bow was made on my bow maker and I added a wooden bead to it, matching the ones in the centers of the paper flowers.  I really love the final look of this card!

     Challenges:

There will be another post in about 3 hours so be sure to stop by again for that one.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Jingle Bells with Father Christmas

This is going to be a short post because it's really late, I'm still awake, but about to fall asleep.  I told you that I had worked on Christmas cards all last weekend and here's one of them with a delightful vintage flair.

This is the best of recycling and upcycling at the same time.  The image started out a plain black and white image on a boxed Christmas card which I cut out by hand.  I colored with both ProMarkers and chalks, then I cut frames for it in green, red, and brown using rectangle dies from QuicKutz.  It's mounted using pop dots to raise it from the background.

The background paper is wrapping paper which I cut and added to the card front, then wrapped it with sheer, beige ribbon.  I tied a triple loop bow and added it to the front.  Then I designed a wreath and candle made from gemstones and added it below the bow. There's lots of dimension and texture on the card.

     Challenges:
