Christmas Morning

My latest card for Beccy's Place, using the letter "R," is all about Santa sleeping in on Christmas morning.  While the rest of us are scrambling out of bed at daybreak to see what he stuffed in the stockings the night before, Santa is doing his best to get a few winks of sleep after his marathon tour of the world on Christmas Eve.  What he doesn't need is a Raucus Rooster Rarin' to crow, even if that Rooster is out in the toy barn.  lol

I started with the sketch from Sketch Saturday
but I turned it a 1/4 turn and used a circle instead of an oval.

I used my ProMarkers to color this image, another of Beccy's quilted critters, all in Ruby Red and Rain forest green.  I die cut it with a stitched circle die from Die-namites.   I found two scraps of Christmas dp, cut them with the same circle die, and framed the Rooster with them.

The sentiment is computer generated and hand cut, then added to the card front below the image.  The two little embellies, a Christmas tree and a Christmas stocking, are mounted on Raised foam dots.  I hand tied a Ribbon bow and added it to the top corner.

Eggs for the Easter Bunny

Friday again and that means another new challenge theme at QKR Stampede.  Of course, we're always Anything Goes but we also give you an optional twist if you want to use it and this week the theme is "Bling or Sparkle."  I thought it would be a great time to get my first Easter card done for this year.  I used "Gathering Eggs" as my image.   Just an FYI, that link will take you to the new store which now combines all the different brand names (Artful Stamper, Biblical Impressions, Eureka, PK Glitz. and QKR Stampede) owned by this company on one site!

This QKR Stampede image is colored with my ProMarkers and cut with a die from Spellbinders, one of my earliest die sets.  I used another die from the set to cut the black mat.  I used glittered paper behind the image and then cut three egg shapes from striped paper and added microfine glitter to them.   BTW, that blue glittered paper came from the inside of a candy box lid, duly recycled so that it wouldn't go to waste.  :-D

I 'dyed' the bow that shade of blue with a ProMarker so that it would match the blue on the rooster.  I wanted a CAS design and I think this one came out nicely.

     Challenges:
A Bit More Time to Craft
Animal Friends
Classic DT Open
Connie Can Crop
Crafts and Me
Crafty Awesomeness
Dies R Us
Not Just Cards
Petal Lu
Stempelsonnen

I hope you're going to play along in our challenge this week.  Remember, while you're not required to use a QKR image on your card, if you DO use one (or even a Eureka image), you 'll be entered into a separate draw just for QKR images and that increases your chances of being a winner by a huge amount.  Good luck and come play.  NanaConnie

New Sheriff in Town

I am so tickled to have found this silly rooster image (Digi 15105 "Running Rooster") from QKR Stampede and have used it in the newest challenge, starting this morning, with a theme of "Wild West."  You'd think that as long as I've been part of the QKR DT, I'd have seen all the images but there are so many that I run across ones I haven't seen at least once or twice a month.  :-D

I decided to use the Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2 sketch again.

OK, I have to tell you that I made a tiny modification to the image which you won't find if you go to the original.  I added the sheriff's badge to his vest to coordinate with the sentiment and better fit our "Wild West" theme.  Other than that, it's exactly the same, and it's such a tiny badge, you might not have really seen it if I hadn't pointed it out.  :-D

I colored with ProMarkers, utilizing fall colors, then die cut both the image and the dp mat with dies from QuicKutz.  I hand cut the sentiment and matted it, too, with a tiny scrap of that same dp.  The card base is made with brown CS and the orange CS strip was embossed with my "Linen" folder.  The black chevron striped paper is actually burlap.  I added the orange jute cord and the card is perfect for a masculine birthday or other celebration.
