Bearly Love

At Tuesday Throwdown this week, we want to see you do 'Paper Piecing.'  Our sponsor is Robyn's Fetish and I've used "It's Bearly Love" as the image for my card.

I based this on the sketch at The Outlawz (flipped)
and used colors from Can You Case It?

    CYCI#105

The bears are colored with ProMarkers and Copics, then cut with a stitched border die from Lawn Fawn, one of my newest acquisitions.  I've gone crazy getting more stitched dies and this is the latest one.  The heart is paper pieced.  I matted the image with CS from Recollections and rounded the corners to match the image piece.  I added a ribbon and bow (Really Reasonable Ribbon), plus a glittered flower from my stash.  I also rounded the corners of the card itself.

     Challenges:
AAA Cards
A Gem of a Challenge
Art Impressions
C.R.A.F.T.
Crafting with Friends
Create and Inspire
Di's Digi Designs
DL.ART Thursday
I {heart} ProMarkers
Jo's Scrap Shack
In the Pink
Let's Color Saturday
My Sheri Crafts
My Time to Craft
Outlawz Twisted Thursday
Pencil Case
Really Reasonable Ribbon
Simply Papercraft
Sisterhood of Crafters
Sweet Stampin'
Work It Wednesday

Valentine's Day is just around the corner; less than 2 weeks away now.  Don't forget your sweetheart and loved ones.  Make a card or other project for them and, if you do paper piecing, come enter it into our challenge.  :-D  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie

Grammy Bakes for Santa

It's Tuesday and that means a new challenge at Tuesday Throwdown.  Our theme this week is "Treats" and our wonderful sponsor is Robyn's Fetish, who supplied images for the DT members to use.  I happened to use one which I've had in my stash more than two years.  I'm trying to do at least 2 Christmas cards per week between now and the holidays and, while this image is great year round, she also works perfectly for Christmas baking.  :-D

I used ProMarkers to color her in traditional red and green, and then used my newest die set (Pinpoint Rectangles from Memory Box) to cut out the image and the two CS rectangles.  I used very narrow ribbon from my stash to wrap each colored rectangle.  The sentiment was computer printed and matted with both red and green.  I added the sparkly holly leaves for embellishment, leaving the card both CAS and very flat for ease in mailing.

     Challenges:
Crafting with Friends
Crafty Catz
Crafty Girls Creations
Digital Delights
Di's Digi Designs
Hiding in  My Craft Room
Jo's Scrap Shack
Outlawz Friday Coloring
Outlawz Twisted Thursday
Pencil Case
Simply Papercraft

I hope you're going to come and play along with us this week in our "Treats" challenge.  We'd love to see what you create.  Never forget -- DTs get a lot of their inspiration from the things you create and submit.  :-D  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie

Snowman Fun at Tuesday Throwdown

I'm doing something I very rarely do but this week I'm combining my DT card for Tuesday Throwdown  (Snowman Fun - use a snowman) with my card for a GDT spot that I'll be doing this whole month at the Outlawz Tuesday Color Challenge (pink, red, & black this week plus use a button.)  Our sponsor at Tuesday Throwdown is Robyn's Fetish and they supplied the digital images for the whole team to use.  I adore this new snowman with his warm winter hat and scarf.  If he doesn't watch out, he'll be so warm he'll melt.  :-D

It isn't easy coloring a snowman with red and pink but I managed it since he had the scarf, hat, and gloves.  I even managed to turn the scarf from just stripes into a plaid.  More on that with a brief tutorial at a later date.  The "snowflakes" are done with one of my newest embossing folders and I 'painted' them with Fairy Dust glitter for a bit of sparkle.  I also added a bit of glitter to the snowflake button.  The image is die cut with a die from Spellbinders.

     Challenges:
613 Avenue Create -- Colors, sights, sounds of winter
A Creative Romance -- Something new
Come and Get It -- Something new
Creative Knockouts -- All that glitters
Digitally Sweet -- Anything goes
Hanna & Friends -- Snowflakes
Polka Doodles -- Anything goes

So, grab those pink and red markers plus a button, find a cute snowman stamp, and come play along at both Outlawz and Tuesday Throwdown.  Wonderful prizes could be yours if you're a winner.  :-D  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie

'Gnome' Place Like Home

OK, so the post title is a little 'punny' but I love both the image I used and the theme for the new Tuesday Throwdown challenge this morning, which is "Fall Leaves."  Our fantastic sponsor is Robyn's Fetish and the image is called "Gnome."  In addition to the image, the background paper is also a digital from Robyn's Fetish and I printed it, then turned it so that I could use the 'leaves' (which are probably a flower) as a pile of leaves for him to sit.  Let me show you my card, and you'll see what I mean.

The sketch is from Outlawz, turned on it's side.

Isn't he just precious?  And isn't that paper fantastic?  Oooo, I really love it!

He's colored with Copic and Spectrum Noir markers, then die cut using the 'out-of-the-box' technique so I could get him to 'sit' on the leaves.  I outlined him and the die cut with distress markers.

The yellow and red leaves are punched from mulberry paper and the brown one with the gold highlights was an old Jolee's I had in my stash.  The fancy corners are the 'negatives' from a Cheery Lynn fancy corner die.  "Never throw it away", is my motto!  :-D

     Challenges:
Allsorts -- For Men Only
Card Cupids -- Happy Fall, Y'All
Color Me Creative Challenge -- Anything with a twist of Orange
DRS Designs -- Autumn greetings
Fresh Brewed -- Thinking of you
Heck of a Challenge -- 50 Shades of Autumn
Ladybug Crafts -- Monochrome or tonal
Lia Stamps -- Autumn Colors
My Sheri Crafts -- Fall
Pixie Dust Studio -- Leaves
Robyn's Fetish -- Cards for Men

I hope you had a great weekend and that your week is going well so far.  The autumn chill is back after a couple of days in the low 80s and my poor fur babies don't know whether to cuddle up with me or search around for a cool spot.  lol  Poor kitties.  Soon the winter weather will settle in and then they'll be longing for spring and spot of sunshine on the carpet where they can lie down and bask.

Are you going to join us this week at Tuesday Throwdown and find some fall leaves of your own?  We'd love to see you playing along.  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie

Tuesday Throwdown #96 with Robyn's Fetish

(Editor's Note:  For those of you who had a glimpse of this a couple of weeks ago, it wasn't supposed to publish until today.  I removed all comments and set it to republish at the proper time.  Sorry for any confusion.  Thank you.)

Our challenge theme at Tuesday Throwdown this week is "In the Garden" so let's see those flowers, veggies, trees, bugs, birds, -- whatever you might find in your garden this month.  We're sponsored by Robyn's Fetish and the digi I used is "Birdie Nest" from Robyn's.  Nothing more fun than seeing birds building their nests and raising their babies in my garden, especially when they eat all the bad bugs!  :-D

The digi is colored with  Copics markers, and the plaid paper is from Bearly Mine.  The pink striped paper is from SU.  I added only cord and rhinestones (which have been in my stash forever or maybe longer!) because I wanted another CAS card, which I'll put in the box for Operation Write Home.  It's almost full and ready to send off.

If you don't know about OWH, click on their badge on the right side of my blog and read about them.  A fantastic organization which can always use more cardmakers willing to make and donate cards for our troops to use to stay in touch with loved ones at home.

     Challenges:
Copic Marker Europe -- Monochromatic
Creative Belli -- Animals
C.R.A.F.T. -- Animals
Cute Card Thursday -- Animal
Digi Doodle Shop's Best -- Pink and brown

Won't you come play with us at Tuesday Throwdown this week?  Take a look around you garden and then check out your stamps and supplies, and let your imagination run.  We want to see what's in your garden this wee!

      Hugz and Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

First Tuesday Throwdown Challenge of 2012

Happy first work day of 2012 and welcome to the first Tuesday Throwdown challenge of 2012.  Our challenge this week is sponsored by Robyn's Fetish, and they supplied all the digital stamps used by the DT.  Our theme is "Shiny New Year" and we want to see something shiny on your projects this week.  If you use as much shine as I did, you might have a problem getting your project to photograph.  I've never taken so many shots of one card trying to get the one shot without backflash glare!  LOL

I used a sketch from My Time Made Easy.

Doesn't this snowman cone look ready for a party?  He could be Christmas or New Year, or even a birthday, as long as he gets to the party!  Ice Cream (the snowman kind or not) seems to always be a necessity for parties and celebrations of all kinds!

I colored the image with Copics and added Glossy Accents to the 'snowman' part of the ice cream cone.  That's where the problems started with trying to photograph the card.  Here's a closeup to show you how really shiny it is IRL.  You can see the photography problems it would cause.  :-D

The dp came from the new DCWV stack which Santa brought me for Christmas.  Love all the snowflakes in those papers!  I fussy cut the image and matted it with black CS.  Each dp is also matted with black.  I added the ribbon, the bow, and the shiny pearls as embellishments, all from my stash.

Challenges for this card:
2 Sisters -- Winter colors (purple, blue, white, or silver combos)
4 Crafty Chicks -- Something New (New Year, new dp, new image)
Craft Your Days Away -- Snowmen
C.R.A.F.T. -- New Year
Crimbo Crackers - Snowflakes
Critter Sketch - Celebrations
DRS Designs -- Snowflakes
House of Gilli -- Anything Goes
Incy Wincy -- Anything Goes
Kaboodle Doodles -- Celebrate
Mark's Finest Papers -- Snowflake
My Craft Spot -- Winter Wonderland
One Stop Crafts - Winter Wishes
Our Craft Lounge -- Inspiration photo (colors)
Pile It On - Anything Goes (plus always as many challenges as possible)
Robyn's Fetish -- Anything Goes
Secret Crafter -- Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp and Show -- Something Old, Something New
Stamps & Fun = Creativity -- Snow
Stamping with the Dragon -- Let It Snow
Totally Papercrafts -- Party Time

Sure hope you'll come play in the Tuesday Throwdown challenge this week.  It's an easy one - just use something shiny.  See you there and Happy Stamping.  Welcome to 2012!  NanaConnie

Tuesday Throwdown and Robyn's Fetish

One more snowman today and this one is "Carl, the Snowman" from Robyn's Fetish, sponsor this week for the Tuesday Throwdown challenge.  Robyn's graciously supplied images to the DT and Carl was one of my favorites.   Our theme is "Celebrate the Season."

I chose a sketch from Fetch-a-Sketch and it's hard to believe they are on Challenge 12 already!   I haven't managed to do them all but got a good share of them.  :-D

I took a couple of liberties in that I didn't make a square card and I turned it into a gate-fold.  Here's another photo showing it open a bit so you can see the fold.  You can also see that I tried to stay as true to the sketch as possible.

This will be a short post today.  I'm still not over this miserable winter cold and don't feel like sitting up and typing much.  Mostly, I'll let you look at the card and will list the challenges for this card.  I did try a set of new Promarkers which were a gift to me from a former neighbor of mine, and I Love Promarkers has a challenge theme of Snowmen & Snowflakes.  This is the first time I've played there, mostly because these are the first Promarkers I've had.  :-D

     List of Challenges:
Aud Sentiments - Any winter or holiday sentiment
Bah, Humbug - Cute Critters (Does a Snowman count as a 'critter'?)
Catch the Bug - Anything Goes
Crafts and Me - Pearls and swirls
Delightful Challenges - Let It Snow
Fairy Fun Fridays - Beat the Winter Blues (use blue and white)
Jingle Belles - Christmas
Meljen's - Holiday Song: Frosty, the Snowman
My Mum's Craft Shop - Keeping Warm (with his muffler and mittens -- after all, how warm can a snowman get and still survive?)
One Stop Craft - Let It Snow
OWH Stars & Stamps - Use a digi
PaperCrafting Journey - Anything Goes
Pattie's Creations - Christmas
Rainbow Lady's Challenge - Christmas carols; Frosty, the Snowman
Raise the Bar - Christmas (DT call)
Sassy Studio Designs - Christmas with sparkle and bling
Send a Smile 4 Kids - Winter Fun
Shelly's Images - Snow
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes
Stamp, Scrap & Doodle - Holiday cards
Totally Papercrafts - Let It Snow
Whimsical Wednesday - layers (there are eight if you count the card base)

Hope we'll see you playing at Tuesday Throwdown this week.  The theme, "Celebrate the Season," is pretty wide open and you can do a project for just about any winter holiday or celebration, however and whatever you happen to celebrate during the winter season!  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie
