Looong Day !

Some people think that being the Easter Bunny is a breeze job - only having to work one day a year.  But that's a tremendously "Long Day 24127" as this image from QKR Stampede shows.  Yep, it's Friday and that means another weekly challenge has started.  Come play - the theme is always "Anything Goes" and you can use any image you like, from any company.

I colored with ProMarkers, then used an oval die from Spellbinders to make an out-of-the-box cut of the image.  I had to trim a bit near the hand and at the top to fit the exact shape of the oval in the image.  The scalloped oval behind the image was cut from a sticker paper scrap with a QuicKutz die.  I had peeled off the protective cover and sprinkled it with Goldenrod glitter from Sparkle n Sprinkle.  I put the protective sheet back on top and then cut it with the die.

I layered the image onto the glittered piece.  I used a scrap of navy blue CS to make the background.  I wrapped it with a scrap of white, stitched ribbon (Crafty Ribbons) and added one of my signature bows.  The three little dots were bits that dropped out of the die cut and I put them onto the ribbon.

Finally, I printed and hand cut the sentiment before adding it to the bottom.

A Good Egg

Friday morning and another weekly challenge is starting over at QKR Stampede.  Our theme is always "Anything Goes."   This week, I'm still doing Easter cards and I used this delightful QKR image called "Bunny and Egg."

I colored the image with ProMarkers, then cut it with a Double-stitched Circle, Die-namics die from My Favorite Things.  I also cut the dp with that same die.  Notice the stitching on both the image edge and the dp circle?  The die is double stitched to give that effect when the die cuts are inlaid.

I printed and hand cut the sentiment, adding the plaid at the bottom of the card front, and finally tied a small bow using satin ribbon.  I added glitter to a medium Pop Dot and stuck it onto the bow for a teeny bit of sparkle.

No Place like "Gnome"

Happy Friday to all of you and welcome to my usual Friday QKR Stampede post. It's our latest challenge and our theme is always Anything Goes.  I'm a huge fan of all the QKR stamps but I do love the gnomes especially.  This one is called "Sitting Gnome" - inadvertently misspelled as 'knome.'

I colored him with ProMarkers and watercolor pencils, then cut him with a stitched die from CUTplorations.  I matted him with a scrap of bleached, green CS.  I did the bleaching on that myself, using a Q-tip and 'dotting' spots, then letting it dry.  I got on a huge kick of that a few years back and did probably 50 sheets of CS in different colors.  Some of those sheets I still have in my stash.  Because it's so time consuming to make, I keep every little scrap and try to use it up.

I cut the sentiment with the same CUTplorations die, but I adjusted the placement of the die and cut it twice to get the size I wanted.  The polka dot ribbon was in my stash and I used a separate scrap to tie the bow.

I added everything to a golden yellow background, putting the image and sentiment on Pop Dots for some dimension.

Snakes and Rainy Days

I'm not sure there's really any correlation between snakes and rainy days, other than the fact that I feel pretty much the same about both of them; I don't mind them but they can be annoying if they happen every day.  :-D

It's Friday again so that means it's time for a new challenge at QKR Stampede.  We always have a theme of "Anything Goes" so there's no reason for you not to enter.  You could win some fun and funny images from QKR Stampede.

The one I used today is called "Wrapped Up" and the sentiment is called "A Little Rain."  I'm sure this little snake would adopt that sentiment as his life's philosophy!  After all, there's probably nothing nastier than trying to navigate across wet and slippery tree branches.

I colored with ProMarkers (my absolute favorites for coloring because I love the way alcohol ink blends), then cut the image with a stitched die from My Favorite Things - Die-namics.  The background pieces are cut with a die from Sue Wilson.  I cut two and offset them behind the image because the cut pieces were too small for just one to frame the image.  One more way to make my smaller dies more flexible.

I added green jute cord, wrapped around the card front, then tied into a bow.

Bribery Works

Good morning on a lovely spring Friday!  We have another new challenge starting at QKR Stampede and our theme is always Anything Goes.  I have a fun card today, which is not only a total fantasy but is a take off on the old Tortoise and Hare fairy tale.  In this version, it takes a bit of bribery to keep the old turtle moving along.  lol

The image is from QKR and is called "Bribery Goes Far."  I did my best to make it look like springtime since yesterday was the first day of Spring here in the Northern Hemisphere.  :-D

I used the colors from My Favorite Things
although my blue background is not quite dark enough
the rest of the colors are found in the image.

I used ProMarkers and water color pencils on the image, then cut it with a stitched die from Lawn Fawn.  The blue background piece was cut with an Altenew die.  I put everything onto a kraft card base and added the metal brads to the upper and lower corners.

I want to share with you a new technique I tried with the Altenew die.  I prefer dies over stencils but that's mostly because I have so many dies and so few stencils.  So I cut some very heavy CS with this particular Altenew die, then used the cut CS as a stencil to get perfectly aligned polka dots on a background piece.  I need a bit more practice but I'll share the results with you in a few more days.

I printed the sentiment and cut it with the smallest Lawn Fawn die but I had to adjust the placement and cut twice to get the long rectangle shape out of a square die.

"Cheesy" Birthday

Good Morning and a happy Friday to you!  Friday means another challenge is starting at QKR Stampede for this week and we have our usual "Anything Goes" theme.  Remember, you can use any images from any company.  If you decide to use something from QKR (or our sister company, Eureka Stamps), your entry goes into a separate draw and that greatly increases your chances of winning QKR images!

I used a fun QKR image today to  make a masculine birthday card.  It's called "Sharing 24215" and it's a fun and silly try to share a bit of cheese as a birthday offering.  I don't think I've ever been given cheese as a present but then, I haven't invited many mice show up at my parties.  lol

I decided I wanted to see how many shades of blue I could use on this so I colored the image with ProMarkers and pencils (3 different blues), then cut it with a die from Spellbinders.  I printed and cut the arm/hand holding the cheese twice more and fussy cut them, adding them in flat layers so that it has a bit of dimension.  I mounted the image piece onto an ocean blue card base, and added aqua blue glitter to the negative holes in the die cut.

The birthday sentiment was cut from navy blue CS with a Memory Box die.  I mounted the words onto white CS and trimmed them to the general word shape, using scissors.

I added a hand-sewn bow with a baby blue button and called it finished.

A Friendly Hello

I've been on the DT at QKR Stampede for 5 years, give or take, and I can't believe that after doing that many cards for our weekly challenges, I had overlooked this image!  It's called "Sante Fe Mouse."  Another new challenge is starting today (Always Anything Goes) and I'm really tickled with this simple, southwestern flavored, greeting card with it's very simple sentiment.

I colored the image with ProMarkers and cut him with a die from Tonic Studios.  I mounted him onto a yellow card base which had been embossed with my 'Linen' embossing folder.  The "hello" sentiment was cut from a tiny scrap of dp with a Poppy Stamps die.  I want to use this as a masculine card so I did no additional embellishment.

Wizard Mouse

Welcome to my second DT post of the day, this one for QKR Stampede where our theme is always "Anything Goes."  My card today uses a precious QKR image, called "Wizard Mouse" and it's all about 'times gone by' when magic and wizards ruled the world.  :-D

I used ProMarkers to color and shade the image, added gold to the stars and silver to the crystal ball with paint pens, then cut it with a stitched Cottage Cutz die.  You've recently seen both of the dp I used because they were scraps left over from another project which were still lying on my craft desk.

I printed the sentiment, and used another Cottage Cutz die to cut it.  I had to put the die at the top of the sentiment, and make a cut, then move the die so that I could cut the bottom of sentiment. If you're off searching for a CC die that exact shape, you're not going to find it.  Being able to shift dies to get the size you want is one of the versatilities in using dies.  :-D

My final touch was hand sewing a sheer, purple bow with a purple pearl.

Birthday Flight for Pegasus

Welcome to another Friday and the start of another challenge week at QKR Stampede.  Our theme is always "Anything Goes" and you can use products or images from any company.  If you do choose to use a QKR Stampede image (or even one from our sister company, Eureka Stamps), your entry will go onto a separate draw and that increases your chances of winning by a huge margin!

This QKR image is called "Pegasus" and I love him to bits!

I based this card on the sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches
but I reversed it and adjusted it for a vertical card.

I used ProMarkers to color the image and cut it with a stitched die from Card Deco.  I used my favorite purple paper with hearts and flowers on it as the background and added the sentiment to it.  I die cut all the flowers (Spellbinders), added glitter to two of them and to the lavender flower, then added tiny gems.  I added Glossy Accents to his eyes and wings but none of that shows up very well in the photo.

This is my oldest granddaughter's birthday card and I can share it on my blog because she's already seen it.  Her birthday was yesterday and she loved this card!  She's the one who really loves dragons but she also has a passion for Greek Mythology so this aging Pegasus was a definite hit.  :-D

Three Blind Mice

Welcome to yet another Friday and the start of another "Anything Goes" challenge at QKR Stampede.   I've been playing with some of the older images in my QKR collection and this one, called "Blind Mice," was perfect for a card that seems to say "I'm really missing you!"

I made this card before I found my markers so this is colored with a combination of water color paints and colored pencils.  I cut the image and the sentiment with Unbranded, cross-stitch dies, then mounted both pieces onto a scrap of dark blue CS.

The argyle plaid paper was in my stash of 12 x 12 scrapbooking papers which I am determined to use following the reorganization (which forced me to recognize and admit just how much paper I have in my rather overwhelming stash!)  There's no getting around the fact that I have to use up a ton of paper before I can justify purchasing any more.  lol

I found a scrap of jute cord in a color perfect for this card and added it before layering on the image.  I wanted this to be a masculine card so I didn't embellish it any further.

Bandaged Cat

Welcome to our newest weekly challenge at QKR Stampede where our theme is always "Anything Goes."  There's no requirement to use images from QKR (or from our sister company, Eureka Stamps) but for those of you who do use them, you increase your chances of winning by a huge amount since those entries go into a completely separate drawing so your odds are much better.  :-D

The image I used today is from QKR and it's called "Bandaged Cat."  Every time I use this image, I can hear my dad in my head talking about someone being "as nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs!"  lol  Now you know why!

I used my ProMarkers to color the cat, then cut the image with a die from Lawn Fawn.  I cut the blue frame with a Cottage Cutz die.  The shiny, metallic background was cut with an Altenew die and everything is layered onto a smoke-blue card base.

I printed and hand cut the sentiment, matted it with a scrap of blue CS, and added that below the image.  Because I used this as a masculine, get-well card, I didn't add any further embellishment.  I thought the texture of the layers and the die cuts was enough.

It's a Booboo !

I found myself having to make a couple of quick Get Well cards and used an image from QKR Stampede to make each one.  I'm sharing this one today and will share the other next Friday as my DT inspirations for those two QKR Challenges.  As always, our theme is "Anything Goes."

The image is called "Booboo" and I think it's adorable.  Not the first time I've used it, but when it's this cute, who can resist?

I colored with ProMarkers and a touch of sparkle gel ink on the tear, then cut the image with a die from Memory Box.  I cut the frame from dark pink CS with a QuicKutz die.  The sentiment was printed, hand cut, and matted.

It's a Cat's Party!

New challenge at QKR Stampede this week, where our theme is always "Anything Goes."  I thought it was time for a party so I got busy making up invitations.  While I was away from the computer, coloring images, the feline fur babies took over and printed out this image, which they then insisted I use!

It's from QKR's sister shop, Eureka, and is called "Kitty Party."  I told the fur babies since they chose the image, it was up to them to color it.  I think they did a pretty awesome job considering they had a bit of trouble holding the markers in their furry paws.  :-D

The coloring was done with ProMarkers and the image was cut with an Unbranded oval die.  I found some of my favorite plaid paper in a stack by Your Next Stamp, called Mint Cocoa Kisses.

The both the light and dark ribbons are from Crafty Ribbons and I hand tied the lighter ribbon into a bow.  The sentiment was printed and cut with a smaller die from that same Unbranded set.

Hatching a New World

It's a New Year so why not a New World?  We have a new challenge starting today at QKR Stampede and I thought this funny image, called "Top of the World," would be a fun way to play on that idea.  The theme is always "Anything Goes" and the prize is always images from the QKR store.

I took color inspiration from the mood board at Crafts Dreamy.

I started by coloring the image with a combination of ProMarkers and water color pencils, then cut it with an Unbranded die.  I inked the edges and then used another oval die from Spellbinders to cut the large oval behind the image piece.  I inked the edges of that piece, also.

I printed and hand cut the sentiment, then made the burlap-twine, wrapped, bow with the help of my bow maker.  I added the mesh 'ribbon' to a piece of dark gray CS and added the die cut ovals on top of it.  Both the bow and the ribbon added great texture to the card.

New Year Resolutions

Another Friday and another new challenge at QKR Stampede!  Our theme is always "Anything Goes" and you can win some of the cutest images anywhere in the digital (or rubber, if you prefer) world.

Today I want to have a brief discussion about New Year Resolutions.  Each and every year, we all get subtle 'nags' about making new resolutions for living our lives in the upcoming year but we all know that the resolutions will get broken within the first week (ok, maybe some will last a whole month if we make our resolutions easy and non-stressful) and then we can overwhelm ourselves with guilt for not sticking to them.  What's the point?

Here's what I think should be done with New Year Resolutions!

Write them down, share them with NOBODY, put them into a bottle, and toss them into the ocean (or any nearby body of water where they can sink to the bottom and be lost forever.)

This QKR image is called "Wish in a Bottle" and I've been meaning to use it for over a year now.  See, I should have made using it one of my New Year Resolutions last year and it might have gotten done more quickly. :-D

The colors from the challenge at My Favorite Things
were perfect!

I colored with ProMarkers and watercolors, then cut the image with a simple, square die from QuicKutz.  I wrapped it with sparkly, sheer ribbon and tied a 5-loop bow with the help of my bow maker.  The white 'flowers and leaf flourish' was cut with a Memory Box die.  I printed the sentiment, hand cut it with scissors, and mounted it on dimensional dots.

One more week and my routine will be back to normal with all the holidays out of the way.  There will be some big changes coming up in the new year and they have nothing to do with resolutions!  I hope you're going to play along with us this week.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

December Birthdays

I have a dear friend and a DIL who each have late December birthdays, late enough in the month to get lost in the Christmas rush, so each year I make it a point to do birthday cards for them in addition to the Christmas cards I send.  The friend's birthday is on the 21st (shortest day of the year here in the northern hemisphere) and this year I used the DT card I did for QKR Stampede as his birthday card.

Our new challenge starts today and our theme is always "Anything Goes."  I used a QKR image called "Puppy Eyes" and a sentiment called "Dog Years You're Dead."

I used ProMarkers to color the image, then fussy cut it with scissors.  The embossing folder is from Couture Creations ("Tied Together") and I used it on CS which I had already run through my "Linen" folder.  The Happy Birthday at the bottom was made by cutting letters with an alphabet die from Memory Box.  I had to adhere each letter by hand and it took some time to get them lined up as well as they are.  lol

Decked Out for Christmas

Yesterday, when I did an extra QKR Stampede card, I promised you that today your would see my regular, Friday, QKR Stampede DT card and here it is!  Our newest "Anything Goes" challenge starts today so please come and join us.  I used a delightful image from our sister company, Eureka Stamps, called "Christmas Kitties."

For those of you who don't share your lives with furry felines, you're missing out on the loveliest way to have 'Warm Wishes' - when they cuddle in your lap and snuggle in your bed on cold, winter nights.

I used the colors from Cupcake Inspirations,
red, green, & white.

I colored with ProMarkers, then cut the image with an Unbranded die.  I printed and cut the sentiment with another die from that same set.

I wanted a very simple design, flat and easy to mail, so I mounted both the image and the sentiment on a red card base, then added the narrow, sparkly, ribbon, finishing the wrap around with a bow.

BARK! the Herald Angels Sing

I know Friday is the day you see me posting projects with images from QKR Stampede and if you stop by tomorrow you'll see another one, but today I'm sharing an extra one which I hope will make a country boy grin.  :-D  The image is called "Country Crooning" and I turned him into a Christmas card.

I colored with ProMarkers, then cut the image with a die from Tonic Studios.  The Christmas tree dp was a scrap I found in my stash and I wrapped it with red, grosgrain ribbon to look like package wrapping.  I tied the little bow with a scrap of narrow green ribbon.

The Reindeer are Loose!

It's Friday and we have a new challenge starting at QKR Stampede.   Our theme is always "Anything Goes" but I stayed with the Christmas theme I've been doing since the beginning of last month.  This time, I used an image from our sister brand, Eureka Stamps, and it's called "Jumping Reindeer ES3202."

In order to get the sense of a team of Santa's reindeer, I used the image 3 times in a row.  I colored with ProMarkers and Copics, plus white gel ink.  I used a border die from Spellbinders to cut the image, then layered them onto polka dot paper from DCWV.

I wrapped that with red, grosgrain, ribbon and added a hand-sewn bow with a tiny button in  the middle.  I printed the silly sentiment because they do look like they ditched the sleigh and are off on a joyriding (joy flying?) trip without Santa.  :-D

I used my "Linen" embossing folder on deep blue CS, then used that for the card front.  Simple, fun, and flat for mailing!

Hanging the Star

Today starts our newest challenge at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies and we're honored to have QKR Stampede as our sponsor.  Since I'm on the QKR DT as well as the 2CCC DT, I was tickled to have an excuse to share cards that used QKR images two days in a row!

I started with the sketch from C.R.A.F.T. but,
because I was using up dp scraps, my horizontal
strip is wider and a bit shorter than the one in the sketch
and I put my sentiment into a circle.

This adorable little mouse is "Hanging the Star" on the Christmas tree  and the sentiment I used is also from QKR Stampede.

I colored the image with ProMarkers, then cut it and the mat for it with simple, circle, dies from Spellbinders.  I used additional circle dies from QuicKutz to cut the sentiment and its mat.  The Spellbinders set just didn't have any dies that small.

I found my well-worn "Linen" embossing folder and used it on the front of the card base before I wrapped diamond textured ribbon around it and added the hand-tied, sheer ribbon, bow.  Both of those ribbons are from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

I added two scraps of dp behind the image, both of which had been inked along the edges.  For a final bit of embellishment, I added the three, pale green, pearls to the lower, left corner.

     Challenges:

I really want to see you come and play in our "Anything Goes with a Critter" challenge this month.  It runs from now until the end of the day on December 25th so there's plenty of time.  The DT is taking a well deserved break so you may not get any comments on your entry but the challenge is up and running and we have a delightful sponsor so how can you lose?

     Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie
