Breast Cancer Awareness

I haven't done a lot on my blog this month for Breast Cancer Awareness but as a survivor (13 years), I'm always promoting mammograms, early detection, and self-exams.  My mother was a survivor of more than 20 years and she passed on at the age of 86 from completely unrelated causes.

At Tuesday Throwdown this week, we have a new challenge with a theme of "Awareness" and that can be for Breast Cancer, or Autism, or Juvenile Diabetes, or Say No to Drugs, or any of a dozen other causes that might touch your heart.  We just want to see you do a card with an Awareness theme.

Our sponsor is the fun and wonderful Bugaboo Stamps, and they are offering a choice of 7 digis to the winner.  They also generously supplied images to the DT for use on the challenge samples this week.  I chose an image completely unrelated to Awareness Ribbons or topics, but I think it worked out fine.  What do you think?  A little humor never hurt.   :-D

Very simple design -- again, I printed the image and sentiment directly to the card front, then colored it with ProMarkers.  I added the two bows, the larger of which I dyed bright pink, trying to match the balloon pinks.  I love the idea of a giraffe "wearing pink."

If you're over 50 and haven't yet scheduled your mammogram, please do it today!  The life you save could be your own.  :-D
