Butterfly

When I saw that the challenge theme at CAS on Sunday was "Butterflies" (one of my favorite things -- both real and in images!), an idea began to percolate in my brain.  Or maybe that was just my Mojo making morning coffee.  Whatever it was, here's the end result.

This card was done using three dies from a set by Spellbinders.  I used the largest die to cut a butterfly 'hole' in the front of my card.  I know it looks like the butterfly is cut from dp and adhered to the front of the card but this time the butterfly shape is a hole and a rectangle of dp is adhered to the inside of the card front, showing through the hole.

Next, I used the middle size die to cut another butterfly out of embossed dp and then I cut out a butterfly shape in the middle of that one, using the smallest die in the set.  I layered the embossed dp butterfly onto the red violet dp, lining it up as closely as possible to the center.  That left a butterfly hole showing through the center, and I filled it with Purple Rain Velvet Glitter (Sparkle n Sprinkle.)

Because this one needs to be CAS, I added only the three little gems.  Despite looking gold in the photo (an effect of the flash), they are actually a pale amethyst/ lavender.  I love this technique and will no doubt try it again.   The inside has the sentiment which says, "The butterfly only arrives after a long, dark sleep."

     Challenges:

Is your day going well?  If not, you can decide to start it over at any point, you know.  :-D  Happy Stamping.   NanaConnie
