Cooking It Up with Katie #77

IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR THE DUDE TIME DOODLES BLOG HOP, SCROLL DOWN OR CLICK HERE.

It's Wednesday morning and I have a fun card for the latest recipe challenge at Cooking It Up with Katie, challenge #77.  Our sponsor this week is Digital Delights and they supplied the DT with the darling images we got to use.  The recipe is to make a project with a pocket, add a pair of something, and use a punch.  I've never done a pocket card before and was actually a bit intimidated by those that have angled pieces that fold over to make a pocket.  They're beautiful and I love seeing them done, but I wasn't going to do my first one for a blog posting.  I'll practice a little first and then post one.

I know how to do pockets when I'm sewing so I worked from that idea and made a pocket into which I could slip the main image piece.  The pocket is made from matted dp, taped on three sides with super-sticky, double sided tape, 1/8" wide, leaving the top open.

And here's a view with the main image out of the pocket and clipped to the front of the pocket with a paper clip which is attached to the back of the image piece.

The image is colored with Copic markers, fussy cut around the top (so she would stand out above the die) and then die cut with a Lacy Circle die from Spellbinders.   I used black marker around the edge of die cut to make it stand out from the card front.  Both of the dp pieces are from one of the DCWV fall stacks but I've had them for a while so they may have been discontinued.  The three small circles are punched with a hand punch.   The whole card took me less than 30 minutes to make.

For my "pair", I guess I have to rely on the image for a Pair of hands, a Pair of mittens, a Pair of legs, a Pair of arms, a Pair of shoes, a Pair of socks -- need I go on?  The dp was so busy I felt that the half flower was enough of an embellishment, with the little rhinestones added to the center and the petals.  The sentiment is hand printed.

This card will be mailed to Operation Write Home for on e of our deployed troops to write home to family or friends.

OK, I have a whole passel of challenges where I'm going to submit this card, and I'm just going to list them below.
