Little Flower Girl

FOR THIS WEEK'S DUDE TIME DOODLES CHALLENGE CARD, PLEASE SCROLL DOWN OR CLICK HERE.

This was such a fun card to make but I can't decide if it's a birthday card, or some other occasion so it remains without a sentiment at this time.  I used a sketch from Sassy Li'l Card Sketches.  I think this is the first time I've used one of their sketches though I have seen them before.

The image is from Whoopsi Daisy where the challenge is "Anything but Squares."  I made sure there are no squares and even rounded the corners on any rectangles, including the card itself.  :-)  The flower girl is colored with Copics, and matted onto a Spellbinders die cut, which is cut from sparkly CS.

The background paper is hand made by stamping with several small, Penny Black, clear stamps, then heat embossing them with clear EP.  On the bottom piece, I colored over the embossed images with a marker and that made the images stand out.  Penny Black Saturday Challenge wants us to use PB stamps to make our background dp and I love the way this turned out!  I love all those little butterflies and bees flying around.  It makes it feel like a Garden Party! -- which is the theme at Sentimental Sundays this week, "things you'd find in your garden."

The ribbon is from Gina K. Designs and the little flower was in my stash, something I probably made months ago.  It was perfect for this card, though!  Once I figure out what kind of sentiment to put on this, I'll send it along in the box of cards going to Operation Write Home.  If you don't know much about them, click on their badge on the right side of my blog and read about them.  A great organization that does a lot to support our deployed troops by sending them handmade cards they can use to write home.  You can get involved yourself, if you like.  It's a great way to share your talents and skills with those who protect us.

Thanks for coming by.  I appreciate all your encouraging comments more than you can imagine.  Have a great Stamping Day!  NanaConnie

She is as pretty as can be in her sunny yellow dress. The butterfly paper you made gives this an enchanting feel, along with the sparkly bit of ribbon. So pretty!
