It's Monday again and that means another challenge at Heart Song Inspirations. This week our theme is Anything Goes OR Use Your Favorite Colors OR both. Anyone who follows my blog probably knows by now that anything in the purple family falls into the category of my favorite colors. I love pairing purple with yellow or with green.
For today's card, I used a sketch from Sassy Li'l Sketches, but I took a few liberties with it.
The image, 'Watering Can', is one of my favorites from Heart Song Designs and can be found at the store here. I colored it with Copics and cut it with a Spellbinders flower shape die, cutting around the bird, the handle and the spout of the watering can so they would stick outside the shape. The purple die cut is from one of the new Spellbinders dies I got and it has the butterflies all around the edge of the circle. I cut two of these, one from purple CS and one from yellow CS. I saved all the butterflies that dropped out of the border and I used two of them, stacked together, to add the dimensional butterfly to the image. They actually are adhered right on top of a butterfly in the image. I added the pearls to the butterflies on the die cut after adhering the circle to the black, score-embossed CS. The card base is silver-metallic CS. The gingham bow and the flowers are handmade.
I'm also going to be submitting this card to CASE Study, where I haven't played in a long time, and this week instead of CASEing a card from someone else, we are to do a card that shows our "signature style". I hope this is my signature -- I always sign my name with purple ink! Doesn't that make it a 'signature' style? I'm also posting it at Moving Along with the Times where their challenge theme is Birds. The Ribbon Reel is on the second week of their plum, green and silver/gray challenge so I'll submit this over there, too. Craft Us Crazy and Stamps R Us are both doing Anything Goes, so anything you make for this challenge would probably fit in over there, too, and vice versa.
Thanks for visiting here today and I hope you'll get a card made and play along with the Heart Song Challenge this week. After all, what better excuse for using your favorite colors on a card? Happy Stamping. NanaConnie

This is gorgeous, Connie! The purple is so stunning with the yellow and green, not to mention all the pretty white. I really like your shaped pieces, too, and the fun little butterflies you added to the scene. Butterflies always finish off every garden perfectly, I think. :-) Yes, I would say signing with purple makes a signature style -- a fun one, too!
Thats what sketches are for for taking liberties, you did a fantastic job here just love your take on the sketch. Thanks for joining us at Sassy Lil Sketches and good luck.
