Fancy Fan

     At the end of last month, I joined the Progressive Challenge over at CDAC and we have the entire month of August to complete a project for the first challenge.  After that, the challenges will be twice a month.  To learn more about a progressive sketch, click on the link above and read the rules.  We are given 5 or 6 freebie images each challenge and must use at least one of them in our project.  This is my first card for that challenge.

     I  used a sketch from  Sweet Sketch Wednesday and the image is one of the challenge freebies (from Priscilla Styles.)  The colors came from the challenge at CR84FN.

       

     I printed the fan on two different green papers and paper pieced it together.  The ruffle at the top of the fan, I colored with a lavender marker but because of the green paper, it looks more blue than lavender.  I fussy cut the fan and layered it onto a white die cut (Spellbinders) and then onto a larger, lavender die cut.  I added the bow, and then layered the entire piece onto a doily, giving it a very fancy, frilly look.

     I used a gray card base and layered on a lighter gray CS and green paper.  I wrapped the card front with two ribbons  -- one is a lace ribbon and I wove through some lavender (satin) ribbon before attaching it to the card.  I layered the doily (with the image) on top and it was finished.  There's lots of dimension to this card because of the thickness of the lace ribbon and all the layers.

     I have one more card but won't get it posted until later tonight or in the morning.  I'm off to take cookies to Juli (see the earlier post today) !  I'm sure she'll be thrilled.  :-)
