Does August Count as Fall?

LOOKING FOR THE HEART SONG INSPIRATIONS CHALLENGE POSTING?  CLICK HERE

Since the football issues are all settled now and pre-season games (usually) start in August, does that mean August is really the start of autumn?  I am ready for summer to be over and my cards are definitely turning toward fall and the holidays regardless of what the calendar says.  The Corrosive Challenge wants us to do cards using earth tone colors so that was the first inspiration for today's card.  To me, earth tones and fall colors go hand in hand.

I used a sketch from CPS - Card Sketches.

The images and sentiment are from The Doodle Pantry and for their Stock the Pantry challenge all you need to do this week is use a Doodle Pantry image.  I thought these ants riding the falling leaves were just too cute and were perfect for earth colors.  They've been fussy cut and matted with white and then black.  The leaf dp is from DCWV (at least a year old), also matted with black, and the flowers were all in my stash.  The sentiment is fussy cut and adhered to a Spellbinders, scalloped oval, die cut.

This was a fast card, despite all the fussy cutting, and one which is in the box for Operation Write Home.  They are the fabulous organization that sends our donated, handmade cards to deployed military troops so they can use them to write home.  My New Year's resolution last January was to make and send 365 cards to OWH in 2011.  Some of you have been tracking my progress and so I'll give you the latest numbers. As of today, I have mailed to the shipper in Washington state a total of 313 cards, and there are currently 27 in the box waiting to be mailed at or about Labor Day weekend.  Most of those 27 are fall or Christmas, with many of the fall cards also being 'Miss You' or birthday cards, which are always in demand.   It's just possible that I'm going to exceed my goal by a few cards, which is just fine with me!  I also owe a big thanks to a group of gals who craft and make cards with me because they jumped in and made 24 of the cards shipped in July.  I'm deducting those from the number of cards I have yet to make for OWH.

That's it for this posting.  Don't forget that the Dude Time Doodles Freebie challenge starts tomorrow.  You won't want to miss it or the freebie!  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie

Super cute card! And I know exactly what you mean about being ready for summer to be over. It is too hot and miserable, and I believe I could stand for my 14 year-old son to be in school right now lol.
Plus, fall is just so beautiful.
