Busy Birdbath

IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR THE TUESDAY THROWDOWN CHALLENGE POSTING, PLEASE SCROLL DOWN OR CLICK HERE.

This birdbath image is such a happy one -- all those birds sharing the bath and the flowers.  It's from Sweet 'n' Sassy , and on their digi challenge, they want us to use lace on our projects, along with a digi from SnS.  I used a sketch from The Sweet Stop.

The colors came from The Ribbon Reel; turquoise, yellow, and a touch of green with a neutral.

The image is colored with Copics, then matted with turquoise and black CS.  The dp is from my stash, also matted with black CS.  The card base is yellow, and I wrapped it with lace hem tape, then added paper flowers from my stash.  I tied a bow from the same lace and adhered it below the image.  At that point, it said it was complete so I stopped.  :-)

I remember from my childhood, Grammy had a birdbath in her yard.  There was one very large and feisty bluejay who claimed all the territory he could see when perched in the top of the walnut tree in their front yard, and that view apparently included the birdbath.  One spring, there were several sparrow families who nested in the trees and  bushes around the yard, and they dearly loved the birdbath.  But the bluejay would holler and screech whenever even one of them used the birdbath.  Eventually, he tried dive bombing it when there were three or four of the sparrows in it.  BAD MISTAKE!  Every sparrow within a two block radius took wing and chased the bluejay en masse!  They kept after him until he finally fled the neighborhood, for at least a few hours.  He did return eventually, but he kept his mouth shut after that and never tried frightening them off again.

Hope you've enjoyed your visit as much as I and feel free to come back any time.  Sometimes, there's cold lemonade in the fridge or fresh-baked cookies in the pantry.  Sit a spell and we'll have a long, friendly chat.  Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Beautiful! Perfect colors! You brought back my own memories here. My next door neighbor had a bird bath in her back garden. I used to watch the birdies through my kitchen window. Every time I'd run outside to get a closer look, they'd outsmart me and take off. LOL.
