Big News!!

IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR THE DUDE TIME DOODLES SCAVENGER CRAWL POSTING, PLEASE SCROLL DOWN OR CLICK HERE.

OK, take a deep breath with me -- hold it a second or two, then exhale slowly.  I've accepted a position on the Cooking It Up with Katie Design Team!  Woo Hoo!  I know I said that I had reached my limit but Katie's team was one of the first where I applied when they had a DT call (they took a break all summer) and I was so thrilled to get the invitation that I couldn't say "no".  :-)  So, from now on, you'll get two postings from me every Wednesday morning.

This is my first card done for Challenge #72 at Cooking It Up with Katie, and the challenge recipe this week is:  Something Wet (embossing, Glossy Accents, water theme, etc.), Use Brads, Have a Border.  The challenge is sponsored by Stamping with the Dragon and I used one of their delightful images.   I started with a sketch from The Sweet Stop (where we also have to use fibers this week, and I used twine).

The image is colored with Copic markers, fussy cut and adhered with dimensional dots to a Spellbinders Wonky Squares die cut, then matted with another.  The colors were determined by the challenge at Here Come the Boys, browns and oranges.  All the papers were in my stash, and all the shapes are cut using Spellbinders dies.   The three orange flower brads were also in my stash, and I cut the border at the bottom of the card front with decorative scissors.

For Top Tip Tuesday challenge (give a tip and, this week, do a masculine card):  for all of you who own decorative edge scissors:  I must have a dozen pairs around which I bought over the years before border punches were so available.  They are piled in a drawer of crafting tools and I forget about them these days because I use border punches instead.  But this pair I like because they can give me a reverse-scalloped border, depending on how I hold them.  So, dig around and find those scissors!  You might be amazed at the things you can still create with them.

OK, so the Brads and the Border are pretty obvious.  As for the "wet" part of the recipe, I guess we'll have to settle for the 'water' in the sentiment.  Since Dragons don't like water (it tends to put out their fire), there was no other way to get wet!  lol  He's dressed for water play, if that counts!

I'm also going to be submitting this card at Stamps R Us, at Paper Playtime, and at Cards for Men (boys count, right?),  since each of those is using "Anything Goes" for their themes.   Craft Your Passion wants us to use funny sentiments (or snarky or sarcastic) for their challenge this week.   I hope this one is funny enough to qualify since it's mine, printed from my computer with a handwriting font.  Finally, I'm submitting this to Karen's Doodles for their Die Cuts and Punches challenge.

Hope you'll join us at the Cooking It Up challenge this week.  Recipe challenges are always fun and Katie has a new recipe every week.  Thanks for stopping by to visit.  Have a great creative day.  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie
