Pour yourself a cup -- this is a long posting today. I'm going to share two cards with you today, each one made with the same sketch from Operation Write Home.

OWH also has a challenge going through most of June to make as many love, miss you, thinking of you, cards and get them mailed off to the shippers so they arrive on or before June 30. This is a great way to help OWH on their "Second Million" ! Click on the badge "Second Million" (to the right, & below) to read about the challenge.
OK, here's the first of my two cards for today.
The image is a digi from Meljen's Designs, colored with Copic markers, and I added the little heart with a gel pen. I just knew the tabby was an orange tabby, like Tigerman, a favorite cat from my childhood. Coloring him set the palette for the whole card, of course.
I know one of our troops is going to send this home to a loved one so they'll know how much they're loved and missed. The challenge this week at Cooking It Up with Katie is to do a romantic card, use embossing, and add ribbon. These two cats seemed terribly romantic to me! Bling It On also wanted to see us use embossing for their June challenge (all month long).
The beige panel across the middle is pre-embossed paper (from my stash and I don't know the manufacturer) to which I added a melon-colored strip of CS before layering on the image, which had been matted with the same CS as my card base. Sentiment is printed from my computer, matted and attached to the card. I tied a small bow made with orange, gingham ribbon and adhered it to the upper corner, then added the three, tiny bits of bling to the bottom corner. As always with OWH cards, I made sure all the embellishments were securely attached to the cards by using small dots of craft glue, applied with a toothpick. I also don't add those cards to the box until they have dried for several hours.
Here's the second card, which can also be submitted to Bling It On, and this one I will submit to the OWH color challenge -- purple and green. For this second card, the challenge at The Paper Variety was perfect -- Tutti Fruiti; use fruit on your project.
This watermelon girl image is from Karen's Doodles, perfect for a purple and green color scheme. I colored her with markers, then mattered her with purple CS from my stash. The middle panel is embossed with a CB folder, then sanded (a technique I learned last week and have used on several OWH cards since then), and the background panel itself is more pre-embossed paper. I added two green ribbons, one sheer and the other satin, layered together before wrapping around the panel and tying into a bow. The entire panel was attached to the front of the card base.
I printed the sentiments from my computer, matted them and attached them to the card. One more 'missing you' card for OWH. If you don't know about OWH, click on the badge on the right-hand side of my blog (or any of the links above to their challenges) and read about them. They do such a great job of helping to support our troops by supplying them with donated, hand-made cards to use. If you think you'd like to get involved with that great organization, go read about them. Your cards, too, could be part of the "Second Million" for Operation Write Home!
Thanks for visiting. If you left me a comment, I love you for it. Happy Stamping. NanaConnie

8 Comments that I appreciate. Thank you.:
Both cards are great, especially for OWH! I especially like the belly band on the watermelon card! Very clever. Blessings.
Cute cards, Connie! I think the second one is my fave! Thanks for joining us in this week's OWH Stars & Stamps Sketch Challenge!
Both are so cute Connie, and just perfect for OWH! Great cards.

Super card!
Thanks for Cooking It Up With Katie this week :)
That cat card reminds me of my 2 cats. When it is time to feed them that is the view we get to see when they are running down the stairs to their food dish. Great cards. Love the sanding on the embossed paper. I like to do that also!
Those cats are cute! I love the little girl with the watermelon, I'm with her yum! Thanks for playing in our color challenge at Operation Write Home!
