Three Wishes?

Dude Time Doodles has a sketch challenge this week, and I had to think about it a bit before I decided how to use it.  I finally turned it on it's side so I could use a more verticle image.  I just had to use this particular 'Dude', Armchair Arnie, for a masculine card, but one which could also be used by a man to send to a spouse or girlfrined.  Simon Says Stamp Challenge wants us to do 'Man' cards so this one will go there, too.  Let me show you the sketch, then we can talk about the card.

Sorry, it's a bit out of focus but you can still get the design layout.

Here's my card -- remember, it's turned a quarter turn so the oval is upright and the right hand side is now at the bottom.

This image and sentiment, both from Dude Time Doodle, were just too funny (and probably in many cases, just too true!)   This is another card I've made for Operation Write Home.  You can read about that organization by clicking on their badge on the right-hand side of my blog.  In short, they ship donated, hand-made cards to our troops overseas so that they can write home to loved ones.  I have visions of a soldier mailing this home to his wife, and the shared joy of their laughter over it.

I printed the image from my computer, colored it with Copics, then cut it with a Spellbinders Classic Oval die.  At the same time, I cut the turquoise CS with a larger Classic Oval die to use as the mat for the image.  I layered the ovals onto a blue rectangle of lighter blue CS.    I chose kraft CS as my card base, and printed the sentiment on yellow paper, cut it to size and attached it to the card base.  Then, I layered on the image piece, and added the tiny, yellow flower to the corner.

I kept it really clean and simple because it's a guy card, but also because it's going to OWH and, for those cards, super CAS is better than fat, heavy, and bulky.  No worries about fitting it into a standard envelope or having to find extra postage.  The troops overseas don't have easy access to a post office, nor can they always find stamps to cover the cost of heavy or bulky cards.

Thanks for stopping in today.  It's been a pleasure having you.  May the light of creativity shine on you this week.  Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie
