Thank a Veteran

This is my second post today and it's an important one.  :-) This card is one of two dozen that my crafting group made because of Operation Write Home and information they gave us for a 'Special Mission' involving veterans.  In conjunction with We R Memory Keepers, OWH has asked us to join in "Operation Thank Our Veterans" by making cards that say thanks to our veterans for their service to this country.  At the end of this post, I'll give you the address for mailing the cards for our vets in case you decide to participate in this project.  This is completely separate from the cards OWH sends to our overseas troops.  You can also read more about it at the OWH site by clicking this link.

I used this week's sketch from OWH.

I also used an image from Doodle Pantry and will be submitting this for their challenge to Stock the Pantry, which simply requires that you use a Doodle Pantry image.    Finally, my card will be going to Paper Playtime and Tuesday Throwdown for their Red, White and Blue challenges.   Here's my card.

As I said, this is just one of two dozen which I'll be mailing tomorrow to We R Memory Keepers.  A group of six of us spent an afternoon making cards, all using the same pre-colored, "You're a Star" image.  None of the cards are the same except for that.  On this one, all the dp is from a paper pad by DCWV, cut into 3/4" strips which are adhered to the red ribbon, making sure they are offset from each other to follow the sketch.   The ends of the ribbon are then folded to the back and adhered.  The simple bow was made from another piece of that same ribbon.  All that was layered onto the card front and finally the image was cut and adhered.

Inside each card we wrote a short thank you note for the service given by the veteran.  We kept each card design very CAS and it took about 20 minutes to assemble each one once we had supplies prepared.  We probably spent an hour doing the prep -- cutting dp, printing the image 24 times, cutting ribbon and making bows, etc.  Overall, we had a wonderful time working and chatting, and the end result was 24 cards we can mail to :
We R Memory Keepers
Attn: Operation Thank Our Veterans
631 North 400 West
Salt Lake City, UT 84103

Think about doing a few cards yourself or getting a group together to make a few more and get them all mailed to We R Memory Keepers by the July 15th deadline, won't you?  Our vets deserve it!

Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie
