This image (from Karen's Doodles) so reminded me of Rascal, a gray and white, Scotty-mix pup we had when I was a child that I just had to use him for a happy, sunny card that will go to Operation Write Home. Hopefully, one of our deployed troops will be able to send it to one of his kids just so they'll know how special they are.
Rascal was one of my favorite pets ever and the thing I remember most about him is that he was constantly curious and always ready to be friends with any person or critter who happened along his pathway through life. If this was Rascal, his tail would be going lickety-split and he'd be saying, "Wanna be friends? Huh? Huh? Wanna be?"
I used an older sketch I found at clean&simple that really intrigued me and I decided I wanted to try framing the image with the negative of a die cut. Here's my card.
I printed and colored the digi image (Copics and watercolors), then layered it behind the scalloped open space left behind by making a die cut. I matted it with black to make it stand out against the other layers I chose. I layered the dps onto a black mat, too, before putting that panel on the card base of pumpkin colored CS from Gina K. Sorry, I don't remember the actual color name of that CS.
Before layering on the image panel, I added the flower ribbon, choosing it because the flowers matched the style of those in the image. The pink centers also picked up the pink edges of the butterfly's wings. I added two more flowers cut from that same ribbon right at the edge of the frame. Definitely, Flower Power!
I kept this one very CAS compared to what I normally do with images from Karen's. There is something about her digis that just leads me to fancier cards and this time, I wanted to do it differently. I like this card. I like the simple design of it. The image really stands out!
Karen's Doodles is also having a DT call until July 20. They are going to add 5 new team members. If you think you might be interested, click the link to read about it, then make a project and add it via the Mr. Linky to their blog. Happy Stamping.
