A Perfect Sunday Card

Good morning.  I want to share with you another of the cards I did for Operation Write Home last week.  If you don't know about OWH, click on their badge to the right and read about the great work they do supporting our troops and encouraging them to write home.

This card was done with a pre-colored image from Heart Song Designs and a sketch from their latest challenge.

As an alternate to the sketch, we could do any combo of  Buttons, Bows, and Bling.  I did the sketch and added bow and bling.

I followed a recipe from Stamps R Us:  1 image, 2 patterned papers, & 3 embellishments.  As I said, the image is a pre-colored version so I can't take credit for the coloring.  I was running out of time to get the number of cards done that I needed to fill the box before I mailed it on Saturday, so I took the shortcut of a pre-colored image.  I fussy cut it and adhered it to a Lacy Circle die cut (Spellbinders), then layered that onto two more die cut pieces (also Spellbinders dies.)  That works for the challenge at Karen's Doodles to "Frame It."  Although the bottom layer of the framing looks more blue in the photo, it really is lavender, very close to the lavender color in the checkerboard squares.

My two patterned papers came from a pad of 12" x 12" scrapbooking papers which was in my stash.  Although it's hard to see, the beige paper has a white-on-beige print.  I chose it because it complemented the biege in the lavender checkerboard paper and also the white Lacey Circle behind the image.

For embellishments, I used purple, grosgrain ribbon (Really Reasonable Ribbon) with a bow, the flowers, and then the three flat rhinestones, adhered with teeny drops of craft glue.  This is to assure they don't fall off and stick to a soldier's uniform, making him or her visible when they don't want to be.

I have some vacation time coming up next week and that means the first three days of the week, I'll be so busy winding up projects at work that I may not have any crafting or blogging time.  But I'll have lots of time after that and will play catch-up by posting a few extra times.  I do have a couple of things done that I may be able to schedule for posting -- I'll just have to wait and see how it goes the rest of Sunday.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Crafting.  NanaConnie

Lovely card Connie! The colors you used are so rich and pretty. And I like the fussy cutting of the image so it pops out of the box.
