My Fair Lady

One more post for today.  I've been designing this card in my head for a few days and today it all came together.  The primary inspiration was from the theme at Sassy Studio Designs' challenge over on their Paper Crafting Planet group, "At the Movies".  I combined that with their Dare to Be Sassy Thursday challenge to "Glam it Up!" with sparkle, bling, shine, glitter, whatever.  I chose the sketch from Midnight Madness and pretty much went all out with it this time.

I loved that quilt-looking background on the sketch, and that was the final piece in having the design come together.  Here's what I did with those three influences.

Not only does that image of My Fair Lady fit the "At the Movies" theme, she's all glammed up even before I started coloring her!  I colored her with Copics, gel and Souffle pens, including sparkle gel ink to highlight the feathers on her hat and the frills on her sleeves and umbrella.  I even made her diamond earring sparkle.

The image is then matted with sparkly, black CS and then a second mat of patterned dp cut from a DCWV card base.  I made my own card base from textured, gray CS.  Then, I cut 1 1/4" squares from two different dps (stripes and polka dots -- DCWV 'La Creme' pad.)  I adhered those to the gray card base, alternating them in a quilt pattern.  Finally, I layered on the focal image and added the faux stitching to maintain the quilt idea.

I wanted to add embellishments -- flowers and leaves seemed to be the right choice since "My Fair Lady" was a street urchin selling flowers for a living before she became the "fair lady."  All the cream colored flowers were in my stash, having been made from satin ribbon and seed pearls at some point in the past.  The white flowers are punched flower shapes with rhinestones added for sparkle.  I added the green leaves for a dash of color.  The lighter green leaves have sparkle on them, also.

I LOVE THIS CARD!  Maybe that's because My Fair Lady is one of my favorite movies of all time.  I did another My Fair Lady card a month or two ago but that was using an image of her as the flower girl, and this has a completely different feel to it.  Much more elegant -- or perhaps "glamorous" is the word.  :-)

Hope you enjoy this as much as I did.  I have no specific plans for this card but it will be there in my stash when needed.  Glad you stopped by and Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie
