OK, I'm squeeking this in under the wire for the Sassy Studio Designs challenge to do a card with no patterned papers which ends in just a few hours. But I had to use my lunch hour to finish it and get it posted. This will be a short post 'cause I'm running out of lunch time!
I used the sketch from Card Patterns #118, and I admit I had problems with this sketch. The curvy piece at the bottom was really difficult for me but I kept at it and did a passable job.
Here's my card.
The image is from Sassy Studio Designs, a fun, summery mermaid. I know a young lady (she's not a little girl anymore -- ask her, she'll tell you) who fell in love with it and just had to have it on a birthday card. The border around the mermaid is from Michelle Perkett and I couldn't believe how well it fit with the mermaid. Both the mermaid and the border are colored with markers, and then I highlighted the mermaid with a glittery gel pen. She's fussy cut and added to the border.
I have to show you where the color inspiration was found and I think you'll be as surprised as I was. Dutch Dare Card Challenges had this as their photo inspiration:
and CR84FN Color Challenge had this one. Did anyone else notice that? Same colors for two different challenges.
Back to my card. The dp is green paper, with the 'waves' done with marker to give little texture. The border is punched with a Fiskars punch. The card base is pink CS from Gina K. The sentiment is printed with my computer on beige paper and matted with green. The flower is made from three layers of flower petals with a satin flower as the top layer and a pearl added to the middle.
Must run now. Hope your day is fabulously creative, and for those of you in the East suffering high temps and humidity, find a way to keep your cool! Happy Stamping. NanaConnie
