"Love You" for Anniversary Card

Laurie at 4 Crafty Chicks is celebrating an anniversary this month and she'd like us to do anniversary cards for their challenge.  Ditto, The Rubber Cafe -- also wedding or anniversary cards is their challenge.  [As a side note, The Rubber Cafe was kind enough to give an 'Honorable Mention' to the Grad Card I did for their last challenge.  You can see it here.]

For me, wedding anniversaries are always a celebration of love and joy, and should include lots of hugs and telling the other how much they are loved.  With that as part of the inspiration, I chose to CASE the card from the CASE Study challenge which I absolutely LOVE for its simplicity.  It's by Jill Foster.

I adore the turquoise and white, flowery background dp, and the inking treatment on the edges of the focus image.  I also liked the torn edge on the paper with the sentiment.

Here's what I did with my card.  As you can see, I stuck very close to the design layout and the turquoise.

I love these two little bears hugging each other (by Meljen's Designs), and they are perfect for a card filled with love.  I colored them with Copic markers, then put the image on vanilla CS before cutting three sides and tearing the top.  I inked the edges with a Cat's Eye, Prussian Blue, ink pad.

There is actually no dp on this card.  The flowered background is actually pre-printed on the card and I just adhered the image right to it.  I tied the bow using some Swiss Dotted ribbon, and made the flower from mulberry paper punched with a flower-petal-shaped hand punch.  I used a turquoise gel pen to color the center of the petal shape, and adhered it to the corner of the image.  Tuesday Throwdown wants to see DIY embellishments this week, and I'm rather proud of these, however easy they may have been to make.  They definitely belong on a CAS card.

Very fast and simple, clean in design, and this card is another for Operation Write Home.  Please click on the badge to the right to read about OWH, and if you want to get in on their June challenge, click on the 'Second Million' badge and read about it.  I don't know of a better way for cardmakers to help support our troops than by making and donating cards to OWH for our deployed troops to use when staying in touch with loved ones back home.  For a look at how much those cards are appreciated, just click on the Hero Blog link once you're on the OWH blog.  Fair warning -- grab your Kleenex before you start reading!

So, we're almost halfway through the weekend.  What have you done just to please yourself today?  I know how much you always take care of others.  When was the last time you took care of yourself?  God bless and Happy Stamping.  NanaConnie
